The two star rating is due to the cleanliness of the restaurant. The fabric on the seats of the booth I sat at were badly stained and the lights over the food prep area clearly needed to be dusted and wiped down. My Wife wanted McDonalds breakfast and I told her that I was going to get her a higher quality more expensive breakfast sandwich instead from Einstien Bagel, in which I have been a loyal customer since they opened and the breakfast sandwiches where twice the size. Well when I got home with the quality breakfast sandwiches hers had black stinky grease on it. This was disgusting and could not be consumed. In all fairness I called to inform the management and they gave a credit for a free bagel sandwich. Well it's been 5 months and I haven't been back in to redeem. The food here is usually pretty good, but I just paid $6.81 for two bagels. The ordering process here is terrible. They have two registers on opposite sides of the counter and only use one, but there are no signs and no one will tell you that you are not in line. We've had to help customers because the staff ignores them. There needs to be an order and pick up location. I doubt management has noticed because Betty - the General Manager is always at the window, barely trying to reach out the window. I had to unbuckle and lean out today. At least pretend to care. Wow, I can't get over the low ratings for this place. If I could choose between Einstein and the other "soup and bread joint" Einstein takes the cake ALWAYS at least for me! I was having a pregnancy craving for a bagel and cream cheese one beautiful Saturday morning and I suggested to my husband we go here. They also have a nice little patio outside so we could bring the pup. I ordered the usual bagel I get cranberry bagel with hazelnut cream cheese. The bagel tasted fresh and delicious along with the sweetness of the hazelnut cream cheese. My husband surprised me with a delicious dessert Bar along with it. He ordered a bagel sandwich served with egg and cheese in it which he throughly enjoyed. We'll be back again soon Einstein. The food was great and everything was made fresh! read more

What ever happened to my Einstein Bros bagels? This place sucks. I went in there on December 26th and bought a half dozen bagels. 4 everything, 1 Poppy Seed and 1 Sesame Seed. All 6 were not only smaller than ever which is such a huge disappointment, but I'd bet $500 that they were day old bagels. Either that or this company has really gone to the crapper. I love Einstein's. Super bummed at my visit here bc it's so close to my home. Bagel was doughy - underproofed and underbaked. Store isn't super clean (don't look at the ceiling)(but also don't look at the floor) and there are maintenance issues visible. Just Nasty! This location is so dirty it grosses you out. Garbage on all tables, spills and sticky spots everywhere. The staff definitely does not clean throughout the day. They bagels are good when you are able to get what you order, but the service isn't. They are usually slow and they often get the order wrong. I've had the wrong kind of cream cheese, no cream cheese, on the side, and butter. All I want is plain cream cheese on a bagel, and that shouldn't be hard. I've also had nothing because after they ring me up they realize they don't have the bagel I want, and I've been there 10 minutes. I've tried a breakfast sandwich also, and it was horrible. I really dislike this place. They always screw up in something! Today I asked for extra sauce on the side and it went on one bite of the sandwich and that was it. They barely give me any! I only go because it's very close to my house but otherwise I would avoid as much as possible! If you're taking out, I would suggest to check your order. Watch out for the ladies too! Everything thin with blueberry cream cheese! All time favorite. Also, my hubby got the breakfast panini, it's also very good and he finished it all. Attempting to purchase food at this location is an experience. I placed a simple order, yogurt and an iced latte. I took the yogurt out of the case and placed it on the counter. All they had to do was make the latte. I paid for my food and the cashier just stood there and looked at me waiting for my drink to magically appear. Finally she turned around and tried to figure out how to make the drink. Thinking that this was just an off day I went back the next day. It just got worse. I tried to order a bagel and a latte. Again the cashier just waited for my drink to magically appear. And AGAIN the cashier finally figured out how to make the drink. However, with about half a dozen employees behind the counter, it appears that no one was responsible for filling the food orders. Maybe reading the screen with the food orders would have been a start. I then told them that I did not want the food and asked for a refund. This required a manager who did not know how to do a refund and took forever. The excuse for poor service was that 2 employees had called off that morning. Was this their standard excuse? The manager passed me off to the GM so she did not have to listen to me. More excuses about employees calling off, new employees and the drive-up window. Some suggestions: Train your employees not just for an hour but while working on the job Managers should manage and not act like counter help Eliminate the drive-up window since you can not handle this and the counter Know your product and how to make it WORK AS A TEAM !!!!! read more

I don't understand the poor reviews posted about this location. My wife and I had a late lunch here and experienced satisfactory customer service. Our bagel sandwich's were delicious and it was a comfortable dining atmosphere. The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars was because they were out of quite a few bagel flavors. However, it was 2:00pm and just after the lunch rush. Since they close at 4:00, they probably depleted their supply for the day. Will update review after my next visit. read more

Stopped in here Saturday morning for a quick breakfast. What a mistake! The line was almost out the door. Once we finally ordered, it turns out they didn't have the bagel I wanted my egg sandwich on. My wife and I each ordered the bacon egg and spinach sandwich (her's without cheese). Instead, we both received the mushroom spinach sandwich. What a let down. The line was still incredibly long, and I didn't want to slow down the process any further, so we just ate our sandwiches and left. Pull out my smart phone and log in to my account which shows my phone number. Show the employee the reward I want to redeem. Employee presses some buttons and says "It" won't allow that discount. I cancel my order and ask for a manager. Young male comes over. I tell him my phone number which is registered is not coming up. He says "Okay". When I was ready I walked up to to the register because that's where the lady positioned herself. I waited about a minute while she stared off into space although I was a few inches away from her. It was about a five minute wait so not too bad. The bagel was truly delicious and very filling. They lay the salmon on top of cream cheese. The inadequacy management is verbally abusive and should be reprimanded. The cleanliness is of despair, and utterly grotesque as Kendra one of the managers has bed bugs in her home. There a flies and other insects crawling from her hair and sinks of her home. The policies of such a despicable company are to use and harass people and continue as the company swirls the drain. A downward spiral of Kendra parish in charge has served black lettuce, rotten tomatoes, and re-used containers for food that should not ever be re-used in accordance with the law. Health code violations are not beyond the negligent management, as the store in palatine (store # 2089) has failed to keep above 90% cleanliness since I have began eating there. now the health code of conduct see's that at a 76% and is far below the levels that should be serving food to the public. This review is solely on their drive-through. Very long wait and there was only one car in front of me. I ordered two bagels and a hot chocolate. bagels came out quick hot chocolate took them several minutes to me. When I did get it I tasted it, Probably the worst hot chocolate I have ever tasted. Since I was already running late for work due to the amount of time spent waiting for the hot chocolate I did not go back. Update: I have gone back a few times mostly using the inside instead of drive through. I was disappointed today in the product. My plain bagel with plain cream cheese had green stuff (glad I'm not allergic to avocado) on it and tasted like it had some onion on it. There was hardly any cream cheese. I'm super disappointed but whoever was working prep around 845 should change their gloves and wipe everything down. If I was allergic to either of those it would have been a very bad day for me. You could send someone to the hospital if your not careful! I've worked good service and cross contamination is a big no no! Had to throw out my breakfast because it was so nasty tasting due to the different flavor in each bite! There's good money down the drain again... Update again: why do I keep coming back to this place. The cashier tried to steal $2 from me. He gave me $1 and took the other $2 and put them by the monitor of the register.
