I usually love Einstein bagels but my last experience here left much to be desired. After we order, we waited 15 minutes to finally get our 2 bagels and a bacon and cheddar bagel, only to discover both of our bagels were Not toasted. I was fine with it but the person I went with wanted theirs toasted so they took it back to have it toasted. They delivered another bagel un-toasted so at that point we left. Absolutely a waste of time! I'm not sure how they are still in business at this location. I went in on a Saturday morning and ordered two bagels. After waiting twenty minutes, I left with my orange juice. No bagels. No sense of urgency at all by any of the employees. No smiles. No excitement. If you must go to Einstein's I recommend making the trek to Sandy. It won't take you any longer to get your bagel fix, they actually provide quick service at that location. I normally go to Einstein Bagels in Taylorsville but when I realized this one was close to work I decided to stop there instead. I pulled into the drive through at 7:40, thinking I had plenty of time to make it to work by 8:00am since it was less than five minutes away. Boy do I regret that decision. I waited 15 minutes to even get to the speaker to order. I'd have left but there was a car pulled in behind me, trapping me in. Still, I should have realized what was coming when it took so long just to be able to place an order. I should have driven away...but such is hindsight. As I placed my order I was told most of my choices weren't available. I finally settled on a plain bagel since in the time it took the lady in the box to figure out what the even had those had come out of the oven. (We're talking a good five minutes of me hearing "uuuum, we haaaaave....one sec....uuuuum" followed by "its going to be a long crazy week". Hindsight again, I should have just said never mind and left. Still, I persisted. I ordered my plain bagel and an iced vanilla latte. ("Hot vanilla hazelnut latte?" No please, iced vanilla. "Just iced vanilla?" Yes.) I wait another few minutes just to watch the car in front of me pull into a wait spot...crap... I should have left. It was now 8:00 exactly. I was late to work for a bagel I didn't even want. At the window an older lady hands me a bag and says "$2.05". I stop her, I don't grab the bag. Obviously she's got me confused with one of the other cars. I say as much "oh!" She says "you're not the bagel and coffee?" I am, but $2.05 doesn't sound right. "Oh oops, $6.05...sorry, I don't really read stuff before talking." She laughs. I don't, but I smile and hand her my card. Why oh why didn't I just drive away. She hands me the bag "we had to keep the schmear separate because the bagel is too hot" Fine, whatever, just let me go to work you passive aggressive bagel slinging hostage holder. I watch a young guy holding an empty coffee cup staring at the espresso machine in confusion. Did I mention how I should have left? I should have left. She hands me my card and what is obviously not an iced latte. Yep, iced brew coffee with a pump of vanilla. I baulk. I remind the lady at the window that it's meant to be a latte. "Latte? She says, oh sorry!" She sets down the iced drink and talks to the confused boy. I watch them start pouring milk into a container to be heated. I quite literally yell in the window "ICED VANILLA LATTE!!!" as the woman walks away leaving the confused boy staring at the machine as the temp on the milk continues to rise. Drive away, drive away! He hands me a hot drink with a sleeve but no stopper. I argue, he says an iced latte was what he made the first time, I explain it's not and why, but no longer have the time or interest to wait for another attempt to fix it. I take the hot drink, put it in my cup holder, and finally do what I should have done all along. I drove away. Pulling from the parking lot to the street caused the first spill of over heated milk out of the over filled cup, collecting in both my cup holders, dripping down the face of my phone, and splashing on my pants. Panicked, I reach for the only napkin provided me in the bag with my ("too hot to schmear") luke warm bagel and clean up as much as I can. It's a quick 6 minutes from there to work and now I know it's a over full cup so I turn into my company lot with all the speed of an old sloth with arthritis but still manage to get greeted by another round of still too hot liquid splashing all over my center console. I carry my disappointment into work, knowing that it will taste like regret but still hungry and consoling myself that a hot latte gives more caffeine than no latte at all. This is when the final insult of the morning happens. I don't have a hot vanilla latte, I have hot vanilla milk. One taste says something is wrong, I open the lid to find it still full to the rim (despite two spills and a sip) of pure white...no foam of an airy frothy latte, no rich creamy color of milk and espresso dancing together with morning delight. Milk. And to add insult to injury, from the wateriness of it I'm guessing it was nonfat milk. Before writing this review, let me assure you dear bagel lover that I did try to call the restaurant. I got an automated message asking me to press 1 for catering or 2 to speak to someone. As I was not interested in catering my staff's day with plain lukewarm bagels and scalded nonfat milk I pressed 2...waited a little while and then heard a voice grunt with frustration and saying "too busy!" before they disconnected my call. If you're still reading this giant wall of text, thank you for sticking through the most 1st world problem complaint I've ever written. I've never had a bad bagel at an Einstein's location. They have the bagel-making down. They're always perfect. So what's the problem with THIS Einstein's? Service, speed, and stock. The service is always a bit curt, and sometimes just plain rude. I've been cut off, barked at, lectured, and talked down to just about every time I visit. Ordering at the drive thru is basically an invitation to be treated poorly. This is their number one problem. If you palpably treat your customers like an inconvenience, they'll go elsewhere! Second issue is speed. I've waited at the speaker in the drive thru for 10 minutes just to have them take my order. Not good, my friends. If you can't properly service the drive thru, shut it down and make people come inside. I almost always need 15 or 20 minutes to get a box of supposedly "grab and go" bagels. Once we were stuck in the drive thru line for 45 minutes. Are they making bagels to order or something? That doesn't work for busy customers in the morning. They've got to fix it. Third issue is their stock...or lack of it. They are ALWAYS out of something. Milk, juice, fruit, varieties of bagels--they're always missing something (and rude about it--see problem #1 again). I get that you'll sell out of stuff sometimes, but if you can't keep all 15 varieties of bagels (or however many they serve) in stock most of the time, you need to cut back on the menu. They're often out of cut fruit because "we haven't made any yet." Well, maybe somebody needs to come in earlier! You're missing out on sales and again, if it's on the menu, you really should have it. Horrible drive through customer service. Sat at the order sign for 5 min said Hello 4 times and no one said a word. Should have figured the 2 cars in front of me had the same issue. They should have better training to welcome you and ask you to at least look at the menu and they would be right with you. Came in to get breakfast with my brothers. I orders a bagel with cream cheese. One of my brothers ordered a PLAIN CHOCOLATE CHIP BAGEL. My other brother got a blueberry muffin. If you like long lines and crappy service...this place will definitely meet your expectations! At 0730 hrs on 31 August 2018, my spouse and I went into Einstein Bakery (Riverton, UT) to place a "to-go" order for a breakfast sandwich, a small cup of coffee, and a couple of bagels. The bakery was extremely understaffed to the point I noted that they shut down their drive through window. I came in at time when only a couple of people were in front of me and about a period of approximately 10 minutes had past when I finally got to the counter to place my order. I then noted about 8 people were now standing behind me. I paid and received a cup for my coffee and then found that the staff failed to make coffee. The only large metal carafe that had coffee was the decaf and it was cold. The individual running the counter started making coffee after I made him aware that there was no coffee. I received my sandwich and ended up having to leave the store without my coffee because the staff was slow to react to the coffee issue. To add to the experience, I found that there was an problem with the order but because I had to depart before checking my food, the issue could not be mitigated. Total time to from entering bakery to leaving location was just under 30 minutes. Bottom line is that this is not the first time I had seen an issue with this particular location. I told my spouse that this is the last time I will go to Einstein's. I think at a minimum this location owes me a cup of coffee and due to this locations ongoing problems Einstein's Bagels has lost me as a "regular customer." read more

I love bagels. Sadly there isn't very many places that sell them. Grocery store bagels aren't good at all in my opinion. This place though is one of the few places that make pretty darn good bagels. You need to head on over there when they just take them out of the oven so they are nice and warm and soft. Yum! That's when it's the best. I tried all the types but I always like to go back to the original plan bagel. The service at this location was good. Ive eaten at several different Einstein locations, and this one by far is the worst! Portions are significantly smaller then other locations. Most the time my bagel isn't cut. This is the worst eisteins in the salt lake valley. I have NEVER been to this drive through and not waited at LEAST 15 minutes or more when there is only one other car in front of me. On average it's more like 20-30 minutes and once you're in line, your stuck. They claim it's only in Fridays that they're busy Everytime I comment on it, but I have been every day of the week just to see and I have never waited less than 15 minutes just to other and get a single bagle and they are NEVER BUSY inside. There are usually 1-2 cars in the parking lot which I assume are employees. Any I don't even go at lunch time or breakfast, I go after getting my son from school at 11:15. I honestly have no idea who runs this location but they are terrible. My brother ordered a cinnamon sugar bagel with honey almond shmear and half way into his bagel there was egg chunks and bits of onion in it. He noticed it immediately and threw up! Their customer service is not great and sometimes rude, they mess up my order a lot (and it's not a hard order), and today their systems were down and could not take ATM or credit, and they did not try to accommodate in any way. They just said "sorry for the trouble", but did not offer any coupons or anything to accommodate for their systems not working. Just went through the drive-thru and ordered a half dozen plus schmear. Not sure what happened because I ordered 2 cranberry, 2 blueberry, and 2 cinnamon raisin (after being told they were out of cinnamon sugar). What I got was 5 cranberry and 1 cinnamon raisin.
