My girlfriend and I stopped by the Einstein Bros in Salt Lake City recently, and it was an unfortunate case of favorite food hampered by slow service. We ordered a Cheddar Jalapeño bagel with the onion & chive shmear and a Blueberry bagel with honey almond shmear, and as always, the bagels themselves were great. The staff working the counter and kitchen were all very nice and polite, and the cleanliness of the dining area was acceptable, if maybe a little rough around the edges ("clean...ish," as I'd put it). However, the experience fell apart when it came to efficiency. The wait time was truly insane for making bagels. From what I could see, the staff was completing online orders before in-store orders...which makes no sense to me. read more

It's always something with this location. Whether it's an online order not being ready after placing the order 30 min in advance or giving me the wrong breakfast sandwich or no one greeting or acknowledging the customers as they stand there. Now I have to add that even if you show up 4 min after they open, they can keep the doors locked and put a sign like this up as you try to open the door. The girl taped it up, saw me and just walked away. The picture I added even shows the time stamp to show that I'm not exaggerating. Is this the best bagel you'll have in the world? Probably not. But is it quick and effective? Absolutely. I'm slightly obsessed with the garden veggie smear, so you can catch me lathering it on everything and anything. I will say that this location in particular has a lot more potential and they could be utilizing the space better. It's very empty inside and has a bit of an uncomfortable flow, so I feel like more seating would do them good. It was more of a hearty meal than just grabbing a bagel but it was compliments of the pregnancy choice utah. So that was fun. I love Einstein bagels! But this location really doesn't do it. I ordered 1 drink and a sandwich and the sandwich was great. The drink was only made with milk and chocolate I asked the team member if the drink could be remade and he said yes. Apologized for the wrong drink and then began talking about how he is still learning how to make drinks, that it's his first day, and that they never actually trained him. Also took 10 additional fo eme to realize the guy was not remaking my drink so I just left. Then the two team members were talking about how they never get breaks at this location and again emphasis on the fact that he had just started and thrown into the operation with out training. There was a another lady with blue hair (really washed out) who kinda seemed like she was uninterested with being there not really doing anything. Over all this location sucks. read more

I would say every time i go there, the food is made pretty quickly and all the people that work there are pretty nice. the one complaint i'd have is when i order an iced mocha they usually leave about an inch of space at the top when i'm paying for a large when they should fill it all the way to the top with ice or milk. & they don't mix the syrup at all at the bottom so its just stuck. other than that its great service! read more

Never again will I walk in this establishment for anything! I'll start with the good (won't be long). The guy that took our 3 breakfast bagel sandwich order was nice and looked clean. That's the end of the good. We have eaten here for years and years and it has fallen drastically as the years have passed by. Today as we walked in, there are still no chairs or tables (since Covid, but that's been over for years now so what's the excuse now?) so there were a handful of people standing around waiting for their orders. Well the smell in this place was far from pleasant, but we walk up and place our order anyway. Our order, even though there were 6-7 people working behind the counter, took between 12-15 min to get our food. During this time we got to smell the filthy smells and observe the people making our food. Not all of them looked like they had showered anytime recently, but I can say most seemed to be respecting their food prep gloves (in not touching things they shouldn't be). I owned a food prep business so I understand the how gloves are to be used and when they should be changed. Between the smells and the growing concern of proper food handling we all began to lose our appetites. As we left and got in our car we found out we were all feeling the same way and almost needless to say, our sandwiches did not taste great. Until I hear this location has been revamped, cleaned up, and employees at least appear to be taking care of their personal hygiene, we won't be back, and you should definitely drive out of your way to have a better experience, so you still have a desire to eat your bagel once you get it! read more

The bagels here are good-- love coming for a quick bagel in the morning. However, the service left a lot to be desired. I stood at the counter for at least five minutes while several staff members were present, yet no one acknowledged me or offered to help. I grew up going to Einstein's so I was excited to be living near one. After my experiences I don't think I'll ever go back. It takes FOREVER to get a simple bagel even though there seems to be a large staff. (And the bagel never tastes good for the price). Why is there barely any seating four years after the pandemic?? It used to be such a magical place and it's gone downhill. There are other bagel spots in the area that will put this out of business soon if it doesn't change. read more

I LOVE BAGELS! A lot! and Einstein's is the one of the only good bagel shops in Utah. Moving to Salt Lake City where this particular store in the Avenues is the closest to me has made my experiences a little more disappointing. It just makes me miss how good it used to be. I just want my bagel toasted so bad but it's a refusal or they don't even do it. All I ask is if my bagel can just be toasted. Sending love though because at the end of the day I love Einstein's and I will continue to go here. But my only complaint at this time is the lack of bagel toasting. Let me just say you enter this Einstein Brothers bagels a different person than when you leave it. I mean that you leave this place a different person than you are when you enter. Why? Because you probably aged 3 1/2 years and your kids have change schools and your wife has left you because it's literally taking that long to get your freaking bagel. I understand places are having staffing issues for some reason but there were six people in this bate shop working, four of which were standing around on their phones or pretending to stock shelves all while me and another guy stood in line for at least five minutes before single person cast their eyes are direction. I was starting to wonder if we had leprosy and they were intentionally ignoring us. But alas they were not they were simply extremely inefficient and really didn't even care that they were sucking at their jobs. But the fund doesn't in there my time they finally took my order for a single toasted bagel it literally took 16 minutes!! No lie SIXTEEN minutes to get me said bagel. "Jake why didn't you ask them where with bagel was why did you wait?" Because after about 10 minutes it became comical to me and I wanted to see just how long they would go without anybody prodding them. And this isn't just a one off experience. I've been to this place at least three or four times in the last couple months and every single freaking time it's terrible terrible terrible, repeat a million times, terrible service. If you are looking to have Einsteins cater an event, forget it. They don't answer their phones, their website for ordering catering is non-functioning and when you contact someone via e-mail with your order, they just say "try a different device" (which I did and it didn't work either). I spent 2 days trying to order from them, even tried another location in SLC with the same results. Who knows, maybe they went out of business because of horrible customer service and their voicemail is paid up until the end of the month? read more

This is the worst Einsteins in the state BY FAR! Every time I come here I have to stand and wait for my food for 20 minute despite there being 4-5 employees at a time. No chairs or tables. The floors are always dirty and the employees seem to always be confused or giving attitude to customers. I'm sure the owner means well and I hope they start to take these reviews seriously and take on ownership of the problem. I am surprised it has managed to stay open. Not only do some patrons not wear masks given the times, but the (I am assuming owner) always has his mask pulled below his nose while in kitchen and drink area. I have now seen this three different times and the only three times I have been in there. Also, this location is consistently dirty. This includes dirty floors and counters. I think the employees try their best. I don't fault them for doing as they are trained to do. They have always been very friendly. The location on 13th as well as this location have been going downhill and I hope to see them turn things around and take on accountability as they are in great locations and I'm confident business would grow if these problems were taken on. I ordered a vegetarian bagel without the veggie spread as I'm vegan. I came home and opened my bagel to find they did put veggie spread on it and now I spent $7 on a bagel I can't eat... Not at all surprised this Einsteins has a 1 star rating. It's garbage. I tried coming here three days in a row ordering the all nighter bagel and the first time I came they were out of the bagel that is specific for the all nighter which I understand and I was totally OK with and I ordered a plain bagel, which is a lot smaller than the all nighter bagel so it doesn't work at all for the sandwich and becomes a mess. Might I add they were completely out of all bagels by 10:30 am. If that is the case you should have back up. You have 5 more hours of operation time. Totally not a big deal there are bigger problems in the world. But they told me that if I ordered online early in the morning and set the time then it would guarantee me the proper bagel. So the next day I did exactly that I woke up at 8 AM and put my order in for a 1030 pick up. As I arrived, they informed me that they did not guarantee my order like they told me they would and this was the same girl who told me this. Same deal, no bagels, they had a cinnamon bagel and a blueberry left pretty much all they had. Well, I tried it one more time because I figured third time is a charm and low and behold, they did not have the bagel and they also didn't have any bagel even remotely close to the bagel that would work for that sandwich. Again, I understand... This is a stupid argument, and there are bigger problems in the world than a bagel but I think this Einsteins runs like crap. The choose to sell bagels so do your job right. I asked for a refund and a woman by the name of Helen treated me like complete shit. I told her that she should make a suggestion to corporate about the application not being up-to-date and informing them about orders that are happening at 8 AM so they can hold bagels for customers that are making an effort to guarantee their orders early. She informed me that the only thing they can do is guarantee catering orders of over $200 so apparently my $12 order isn't worth anything to the company even though I get this sandwich every single morning at a different Starbucks that gladly sets the bagel aside for me. Thanks Midvalley Einsteins you rule. This one sucks. Helen told me better luck next time in a smart ass voice and I told her that I wouldn't be coming back again. It's one thing to tell me that you don't have what I asked for the last three days and followed your protocols to attain that order but it's another thing to be a complete and utter bitch about it and not help find a solution to your business running the way you say it's capable of. I am so sad to say this, but this is the worst location I've been too. Einstein's used to be my absolute favourite place to go in SLC, they were quick and had a great selection! No it seems like everything has gone down hill. This location needs a new round of employees. Oof. This place. I've never been a huge fan of Einstein Bros, but I've come to this location because of its proximity to my husband's work. It's fine by Einstein Bros' standards; I haven't experienced their running out of bagels like other reviewers have mentioned. In general it's the customer service that's somewhat lacking.The service is a little slow and they always seem stressed out, even when there's only a couple of people waiting, probably due to their always filling big catering orders. The bagels themselves are fine, nothing special, almost always rapidly sliced and schmeared in a haphazard sort of way, but they fulfill the role of bagel. The thing that bugs me the most about this location, and I hate to say it because it sounds very Mean Girl-ish, but the employees here need to clean up their act - literally. I've been served by the same couple of employees every time I go and they look like they haven't showered or brushed their hair in a week, wearing wrinkled, dirty tee shirts that look like they were wadded up on the floor. It's honestly very off-putting and kind of grosses me out knowing they're preparing the food. Your employees should be representatives of the business and the quality of the food, and if the employees can't put effort into the cleanliness and presentation of themselves, then I can't know that they're putting that effort into food prep, either. read more

I broke one of my cardinal vacation rules here--eating at a national chain. But I had little choice, as I had skipped dinner the night befofe, needed something quick on my way out of town, and found my top two breakfast choices closed. I've eaten Einsten Bros in Chicago a few times, so I figured that I knew what I was getting, i.e. something decent but not great. Wrong. I ordered a breakfast sandwich and was alarmed when they handed it to me within 30 seconds. Usually ravenous hunger enhances the flavor of food, so this thing must have been really shitty to begin with because my impression at first bite was "Yuck!" The "cheddar" cheese added nothing but saltiness; the bagel (sesame) was chewy and bland; and the egg may as well not even have been there. But the worst was the turkey sausage--truly terrible. I come crawling back to Einsteins because I'm a sucker for their bagels and cream cheese. But the service here is inconsistent. My order is frequently made incorrectly or the staff will be scrambling in a dizzy to get a huge catering order ready and have you wait for them until they're finished with no acknowledgement of your presence. It's fine and I usually shrug my shoulders and head about my day since I'm sure the employees are just college/high school students who obviously aren't wholly invested in the bagel business. I used to love coming to this location. Everyone was friendly and knew my name and the food was delicious. Yeah, they ran out of bagels a lot, but that was due to the overwhelming amount of office deliveries they go through. Seems they are now under new owner/management. All but three people (that I can see) survived the purge. It is now understaffed and takes a lifetime to get your order. My wife actually called me to make sure I was OK the last time I went there.
