I stopped by because I received a coupon on my phone, and I like bagels: real bagels like I could find in CT and around the NYC area. My wife was with me, and we bought six bagels to take away. We asked for them to be sliced and we went home. We enjoyed the bagels. They toasted up nicely and were enjoyed. They may not be the best, but they were good enough that they could have enjoined a second trip; however, there were a few vexations. I gather the shop has its regulars, and there was some banter among customers and staff, which is fine. But you feel dismissed when you are trying to order, and attention is being directed elsewhere. Questions were responded to but you got the feeling staff would be happier if you just left. Upon arrival home, we opened the bag and discovered the bagels had only been sliced halfway or three-quarters through. I don't expect to be fawned over when I'm a customer, but I appreciate a friendly staff. That friendliness can bring me back even if the product isn't great. Now I was there on a Sunday around 8 am and that's the staff that was there. There may be a friendlier staff other days, but I will never find out. Sometimes it's not just the product alone that makes for a repeat customer, just saying. But for those of you not deterred by service, there are a variety of bagels and other breakfast treats; and they offer a variety of coffees. read more

I have driven by this Einstein's many times and resisted. My bagel eating days are over since I try to limit my carbs. But I was starving and I caved. I cannot believe how bad this place was. The wait was over 20 minutes for two items: a breakfast sandwich and avocado toast. The students who work there are all over the place. I don't think anyone was in charge. They seemed so disorganized. The store was dirty. The avocado toast was a joke. The avocado was spread thinner than I would spread cream cheese. And they sprinkle a bunch of everything bagel spices on top of the greenish so-called avocado spread. The whole thing was an insult to decent avocado toast. I would never step foot in an Einstein's Bagel store. read more

I don't know why any one would go here for a Bagel when there is a real Bagel Shop a few blocks South on Tamiami Tr. on the other side of the street??? Lox and Egg Bread Company which is a few blocks South boils their Bagels in water before baking them in the oven. There is a big difference in taste when you cook it that way. I was here last week and there were no issues. Today I returned and it was a disappointment. This location does not have the tuna that is listed on their menu. My Plan B bagel was the everything bagel with a smear. I hear my name called so I go up to fetch my bagel and it is charcoal. I ask for a bagel that isn't burned so I get a practically raw untoasted one. Um, I still wanted it toasted, just not a smoking ember of a bagel. The woman in the back seemed annoyed to have to redo a bagel. Once again I am reminded that you can have the best business concept in the world (and I'm not saying this bagel shop is some stellar business model) but if you staff it with uncaring staff it will fail. It doesn't take any more effort to do it right and self correct than it is to do it wrong and try and pawn off the inferior product on a customer. read more

Visited here twice this month. Both times service was slow and begrudging. Very sour employees.

The food was fine. It's a bagel- how hard can it be? Coffee was okay, too. The problem is in the layout of the restaurant. If you want to get anywhere, you have to shimmy down a narrow passage where the line is. Forgot a coffee stirrer? Good luck! Another five minutes of, "excuse me, excuse me, sorry- coming through" and you're there! Food presented by surly bagel-toaster guy one item at a time at the crowded pick up area so that I had to "excuse me, excuse me" a few more times. Not worth it. Decent bagels. Poor service, run by children. Even the older women though seemed to not care at all about customers. One kid was just walking back and forth doing absolutely nothing, there were two people helping out one woman at the cash register for a simple order. There were five other employees and no one helped us for ten minutes. When we finally ordered, we asked for it to go, and my bagel sliced, she asked twice if I want it to go and sliced. Change out your staff for more competent employees. Maybe pay more to get better staff? read more

This place should be called Einstein's "bagels". First time I visited, I tried their breakfast... their bagels are not the consistency of bagels. They are fluffy like bread, not dense like a true bagel. Today I was desperate for lunch so I thought I'd try their veg out sandwich. Omg. It was so foul. The "whole grain roll" was a fluffy, overly sweet, bun that tasted more like a Hawaiian sweet roll than anything else. It was insanely small as well. They also poured an overly sweet dressing over my veggie sandwich. Ew! The veggies were few. The veggie smear was flavorless. The onion - they cut about 1/4 of an inch thick for the sandwich - was the ENTIRE onion - that's like 6 whole rings of onion. This food was definitely not that of a genius. I was really amazed how delicious the bagels and coffee were here. Our pleasant counter person Natali explained they are made fresh daily. We had a delicious lunch and the atmosphere was very modern with lots of natural light. A great place for conversations and I saw people there working away on laptops. I went back for a cookie on my way out and it was amazing- molten chocolate on the inside and crisp on the outside with chunky sugar-omg. I am dreaming about that cookie, also made fresh daily, I understand. What a wonderful spot for a healthy breakfast or lunch - loved it! read more

Stopped by to buy a dozen bagels last week while visiting in Florida. The bagels were excellent!

Excellent customer service especially by Judy, Jason and especially Stephen I'm not a breakfast person but they took the time to explain to me the menu and the quality is excellent! Thanks Einstein! Ordered bagel and locks, also 1/2 doz. bagels. Didn't toast bagel very thin smear of cream cheese on bagel, one ring of onion tomato one inch diameter, I would be embarrassed to serve someone. The bagels were sliced thin on top and thick on bottom, totally unacceptable, bad experience. read more

Went there this morning to buy a bagel and a hot tea. Which would be where the story ends except they no longer have regular black hot tea. You know English Breakfast, Lipton...the kind of outrageous thing one might like to order from a breakfast place. Who is running this place? The manager is incompetent to not bake enough bagels to have any inventory left in the afternoon. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO GO TO THIS STORE AFTER 12 NOON IF YOU HAVE A PREFERENCE FOR A KIND OF BAGEL. When I stop by they never have pretxzel bagels and I have called 3 times in last 2 weeks at 3 pm to set aside bagels and they don't have the ones I want. What a disappointment. I used to like this place before caribou coffee came in and spent a lot of money to remodel and make changes. The occupant flow of an already small crowded place is much worse. Don't expect a true New York bagel from this ubiquitous chain. They dispense a good baked item in multiple varieties, many with a center hole. But bagels, REAL bagels??? I don't think so. As described by others, these "bagels" are definitely crunchy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. After having lived in New York for 25 years I learned that real bagels are never fluffy. Chewy yes. Compact, yes. Fluffy is for brioches or hush puppies. Tries for the real thing but, in my book, misses. read more

This used to be my favorite breakfast place until they remodeled it and turned it into Caribou. The environment is so cold now and unwelcoming. The employees are extremely rude and not helpful at all. No one ever smiled, welcomed me or told me to have a nice day. When I was ordering the cashier asked me a question that I was unsure of and instead of offering me a suggestion she gave me a dirty look! Einstein has a good selection of bagels - plain, pumpernickel, everything, cinnamon raisin, etc. They are fresh-made daily and tasty. Are they genuine, dense, chewy NY-style perfection? No, but for Sarasota, they are about the best around. And, for a recent Sunday brunch, the order I placed the day before was accurate, ready on time, nicely packaged and still warm.
