Extremely disappointing experience with this plumbing company. I hired them specifically to complete work needed for a health inspection so I could open my business. I was clearly told the job was done correctly and would allow me to pass inspection. That was not true. After their work, I still failed inspection due to issues with how things were installed. When I contacted them to fix it, the story completely changed and I was suddenly quoted a much higher price to correct something that was originally described as a "simple fix." There was poor communication, lack of accountability, and what feels like misrepresentation of the work being done. The entire situation delayed my business opening and caused unnecessary financial and operational stress. I would not recommend this company to anyone who needs work done correctly the first time, especially if it involves permits or inspections. read more

Since he still works for you, working from several temporary homes, and you claim to hire honest people with credentials, I'd suggest you have a problem due to his poor workmanship and ethics. It's interesting that the response omits the part of my email about the technician leaving the job site to go poop, and the fact that we had to rip out the caulking that the plumber put on and put it back on ourselves because the appearance was piss poor. There's not a dishonest word in my review or complaint to the BBB. So add false accusations of dishonesty to my complaints. Here's the part of my email to Jared that evidently doesn't fit in the character limit: In this case, the majority of the appointment time the apprentice was not even on site. Between his two small errands, he jumped in the truck and drove off. When I casually asked Ron where he had gone, Ron responded that he needed to use the bathroom. When I commented we had a bathroom upstairs, Ron responded, "he needed to go number two." It seems like I got charged for the time that your apprentice spent driving back and forth to some public restroom and the time he spent pooping. I imagine the travel time and mileage I got charged probably covered the extra distance traveled by the truck for this purpose. Calculating how to account for the extra mileage on the truck no doubt added to the time spent on post-appointment paperwork. Additionally, the time and material spent on caulking the sink (and sending the apprentice out to the truck to retrieve the caulk gun and caulk) was wasted. The job was done in such butt ugly fashion that we have ripped out that caulk and will be replacing it. While I admire the commitment you demonstrate by putting a considerable amount of time in responding to my concerns, my concerns are only very partially alleviated. Please let me know whether there is anything more you can do to satisfy us. read more

I asked Einstein to connect a kitchen sink, install hardware and a disposal and to connect and install a bathroom sink. Einstein does not charge by the hour, but by the job: it gave me a fixed price for both work: $753 for the kitchen and $564 for the bathroom, total $1317. I was told the kitchen work "might' require moving the drain line lower. I asked about the price if the drain line did not need to be lowered. The answer was: "the same." In addition, Einstein could not do the work that day because not enough time was scheduled for the job, although I had told the person who answered the phone the nature of the work and they scheduled it. When I inquired about this I was told the person taking the call didn't know plumbing. I decided to go with another plumber, who charged by the hour including travel time. The other plumber completed the work, without needing to move the drain line, and charged $668, or 50% less than Einstein's price. Given this experience I would never call Einstein again. read more

Definitely look elsewhere for a plumber. Every negative review about this company is accurate. I recently had Einstein plumbing out to my property to investigate a backed up kitchen sink and bathroom, instead of providing me with a thorough analysis the company stated that they could not identify a clogged pipe and that they will need to look at the building diagram. That was all they provided, they were at the property for less than 20 minutes. I hired another plumber to investigate the issue and this time it was a much more accurate description and analysis of what was going on. Complete waste of money and time, when I followed up asking to speak to the supervisor he was also extremely rude and had nothing to offer. They appear to be a newer company, you would think they would emphasis on customer satisfaction and provide stellar support. read more

I had a leak under a sink a couple weeks ago. Einstein was able to come out the next day, and the plumber was a nice guy, however after tightening a couple parts on the drain to fix it, he charged $216! He was there for a total of 45 minutes. No parts needed. I'd say that's quite alot of money for a very simple fix. Would hate to know what a job with parts would cost! Also didn't give me any kind of a "quote" for the work once he identified the problem. Will look elsewhere next time. read more

I thought I could repair my own toilet- I was wrong! I called another company who wanted $1100 to fix the problem (which is insane). Einstein came out the next day and fixed the problem with out trying to up sell me services or products that I didn't need for less than 1/3 of that price. They even sent a text with the picture of the plumber and a brief bio so I would know who to look for. read more

Einstein plumbing fixed my problem after two other reputable plumbing companies failed. My 1948 house had a slow leak under the toilet and after replacing the wax ring twice, I was ready to tear into the floor. Kenny Bush did not give up, and after a couple of attempts failed to work, got the leak stopped. We had an emergency plumbing issue and Einstein Plumbing was able to squeeze us in quickly. I liked that they emailed me a picture and name of the plumber who would be showing up to perform the job. Doug called to let me know he was on his way. He arrived on time, diagnosed our problem quickly, explained our problem and how he was going to fix it and got to work. Unfortunately my experience with this company was not a good one. I hired them to install a new water main, which they did, however they also cut off my irrigation line and told me they were not hired to do any work on that line, they drilled through electrical wires when installing the new line and had to pay my electrician to fix it. The parts they brought were wrong and materials needed were not thought out ahead of time, so they were at my house until after 10pm. I have water to my house, but I have a LEAK in the EXACT same spot where this all started. The owner of the company drove from Bend to look at things and after a very brief glance told me it looked fine. I asked how it could look fine when they leak was under the gravel and that he would need to dig and find out what was causing the leak since his team should have capped that line. He said "I am not digging" many times and spoke in a condescending tone. He also said that I could hire someone to look at the leak and that if in fact his men did do something wrong he would personally come back to fix it. HE DROVE 3 HOURS TO TELL ME THIS :) How much easier it would have been if he had just dug the 18" down to discover why it was leaking again since his crew were the only ones to work on that leak in the first place. I am hiring a professional company - Oregon Pump - who will not leave me stranded with a leak or offer shoddy workmanship. The Salem crew is no longer with this company, which I knew since they told me they did not care for the way the owner ran the business. I would recommend using a 5 year old to do the job before hiring these people. Call Judson's or anyone else who will stand behind their work and not leave you with more problems than what you started with. read more

JUDGE FOR YOURSELF This was my experience and the respond I got back from Einstein Plumbing: * Hello Travis, I had water heater repair serviced by Dough yesterday. Based on the phone conversation at the time of setting up the appointment was that there would be a fee $67 if the service was not done by the technician. However, the fee would be waived if the service is complete by the technician and the service charge is based on the project, not the time. The estimated charge for replacing the thermocouple is $275 the burner assembly is $650?! the new water heater is $1450?! All he did was cleaned the end tip of the thermocouple, put it back, lighted it up, and the heater was working again. The charge was $250. I was surprised and shocked at the same time. I've asked him why $250. That is so expensive. He said he has to charge me the minimum. This minimum charge was never mentioned in the conversation I had when I set up the appointment and this $250 charge was never mentioned before the service begun. At the end he gave me $25 discount. (which shown in coupon on your web site) I felt reluctant but had to pay him. Please be honest, does it really cost $250 to clean the thermocouple? With a 12 year old water heater, 9 times out of 10, a thermocouple will not fix the issue and we don't suggest a burner unit assembly either on anything over 10 years. However we advised Doug to give you all 3 options at the pricing options you mention. Your wife then approved the work to be done at the thermocouple price. Normally the price for this is $262 which Doug edited to $250 and then applied a $25 off coupon, which he also waived the $67 diagnostic and trip charge. At 4:24 Doug completed all of his paperwork on the job and left the premises. As a for profit plumbing company, our rate of $262 is standard for diagnostic, drive time, materials, fixing and paperwork. Now to help you feel better about this and not feel like you've been cheated, I'd like to point out how some of our competitors in the area who charge time and materials would have ran this call. Time would have started the moment they started driving to the end of the call. We can call this two hours at a rate of $165/hr. Now much of our competition does not show up in a full stocked service truck and would have had to make a plumbing supply run which would have added an hour to the call. Without taking into account materials, can we safely say they would have had a total of 3 hours into this call for you? But let me be fair and also say that they may have ad a thermocouple on their truck. 2 x $165/hr = $330 3 x $165/hr = $495 I'm very happy that the thermocouple worked for you which does shock me on a 12 year old water heater. I hope you can see that in our flat rate pricing options presented to your wife right up front that we provided many options and completed the job as requested. I am truly sorry you felt this way, but I do hope that with the explanation above you can feel good about our company, our pricing and the SAME DAY level of service we provided for you. Total rip off and I felt scammed to the max! Quoted a 4-tier price option to fix a kitchen spray nozzle. Bottom price started at $447. and topped out at $1,400. (Does that include replacement counter-tops as well? No, but it should.) I was also quoted $223 per hour, to re-caulk a shower stall. No warranties could be extended for the repair. That's not my idea of reasonable or competitive, but I'll let you be the judge. read more
