Taco Dorado, Taco Marlin and Taco de Camaron (Shrimp Taco) and Taco de pescado (Fish Taco)
    Erik G.

This is a review for the taco take-away spot. There's also a restaurant on the premises. I've been disappointed lately with some well-known Mexican spots in the area. This one was a different story. It exceed my expectations. I don't know why the reviews are so bad for this place because everything that I sampled were delicious. I ordered 4 tacos: Shrimp, Fish, Marlin and Shrimp Dorado. All the taco were great. I saw they had a fish tostada on special for the day and I ordered that after my initial order after seeing many folk ordering it. It was also great. From my experience, no matter what you get. It will be delicious! After bringing home some disgusting food for my wife, I knew I needed to atone for my sins. LOL Since, I really liked the food here. I decided to get the same order for my wife as well. She's a picky eater when it comes to Mexican food and she liked it. That's how I know its good. I got called guero here. I'll take it as a compliment. ; ) [[HIGHLIGHT]]They have restrooms for the customers and you can ask for the code.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] This guero liked the food here!

What can I say.. for convenience this was a quick go to on the way home. Light fares with delicious flavors of the sea. Outdoor seating and kind of quick service. The place is maintained as far as tidiness outside, but in the little shack I'm not quite sure. Today I witnessed a worker packing French fries and she had a glove on. Well that gloved hand picked up fries off of the floor, put them in a box and put to the trash to come back inside the "stand" and continue her packing without a change of gloves. .. idk about you but that equals unsanitary, germs and in an environment where seafood is handled, the potential for heartache at the toilet. No bueno! Not sure this is the place for us anymore. Disappointed to say the least.

My fish taco was delicious today! And Mary always very sweet and very attentive. Great service. Gracias Mary

Their shrimp tacos are absolutely amazing with the right crunchiness and soft fried shrimp inside. The sauce that comes with these tacos are jam packed with flavor adding to the overall flavors/texture of the shrimp taco. Hurts to say it but this might be my new favorite shrimp taco in ELA/Boyle Heights area. The service here is quick and friendly. I went on a Friday afternoon and did not find busy crowds at this food truck. Street parking is available and the times that i've visited other food trucks nearby i was able to find quick parking. Its a busy street so you will find people coming in and out of parking spots most of the time. I enjoyed my experience here at Mariscos Jalisco and will be coming back very soon. I had the address on my car navigation but as I drove up to the block I noticed the 4 Vientos truck and wrongly assumed this was Jalisco. So I turned it and promptly ordered at the truck. I did briefly question why the signage was different but the long queues and the delicious looking morsels that everyone around me were eating made me assume once again that I was at the right place. In my ignorance, I did not know that this entire stretch of Olympic Blvd was home to many such mariscos and taco trucks. In any case, I ordered. I ate. I was plenty satisfied and more than impressed and it wasn't until after I got home and did more research that I realized I was at the 4 Vientos truck. Well, no harm done. It just meant I needed to go back for the Jalisco truck very soon. Fresh seafood! Excellent tostadas. You can't go wrong!

Social media brought me here and I'm unsure if I would come back again due to personal experience. If a friend wants to come by I wouldn't object to it but I wouldn't make my way out here on my own. Food was good but no wow factor, skip to the bottom for food description. My fluently Spanish speaking friend called in the order to avoid us waiting too long. I went to pick it up with different friend ( we both don't speak Spanish..). We told the staff that we called in the order she went in and grabbed the receipt $74.25 total. I handed her $84.25 she went inside with our money while we waited. She came back out with the box of food neatly packed, receipt taped to box didn't have any dollar amount only the list of what was ordered. I asked her "my change? my money" she looked at me stunned.. and she said "oh your change..." She came back out with five $1 bills and a single $5 bill. She had in one hand my receipt and $1 plus a $5 bill on top of the receipt covering, totaling $6 while she was handing me that she said "seis dinero." I kept telling her "no I need $10.. I gave you $84.25.." She still said "yes $6." One hand had $6 with my receipt, other hand the $4. I pulled my calculator out and typed in 84.25 to show her. She said "yes $10" and handed me all the bills.. I'm not sure what was miscommunicated or what was misunderstood.. but there was no reason for her to hold the other $4 in her other hand if she wanted to give me back a total of $10 in change. I later see on the printed receipt that whoever manned the registered entered only $80.25 Tostada Aguachile Verde -good, flavorful and fresh. Al Gobernador (tacos)- Sinaloa type of shrimp tacos. Shrimp was cooked perfectly and not overly cooked. Shrimp was super flavorful paired with chopped onions and bell peppers. My favorite out of the things we tried. This might be a better option if you personally don't really like tortilla that's just heated up and not fried. Ensenada Camaron (tacos)- shrimp was a bit overcooked under the batter. Batter was light and fluffy. Didn't personally like the tortilla it's served on. Dorados (tacos)- seems to be their signature dish, deep fried shrimp tacos. Shell was crispy and shrimp inside is well seasoned and doesn't come out overcooked. Good but not wow. Ensenada Pescado (tacos)- fish was buttery and flakey, batter was light and fluffy. Also didn't like the tortillas it's served on.

I've been craving mariscos for MONTHS. Sadly, I was not satisfied. This isn't the type of place to just try whatever they offer. We ordered the tacos gobernador. Those were pretty good. I've had them before at many places. I also had the batalloso. The batalloso was full of beautiful seafood. Packed! That part was amazing. But I couldn't get with the flavor. I couldn't even finish it. I never have a problem finishing mariscos. My husband at two tacos - one shrimp, one fish. The presentation was also beautiful. And packed! The downside is, the only salsa or chile you're getting is tapatío on the table. We asked for salsa or anything else they have besides the taptatio. The answer was a hard no. Tapatío only. So that took away from the tacos. My daughter had the fried fish and shrimp plate. This was good. Fries were really good. Unfortunately, they're not mindful of what they put on the tvs. First, it was a dental infomercial. Then a starving children with visible health problems infomercial came in after. It was hard to eat seeing all of the adversity. We asked to change the channel. They did not. Lastly, there are no restrooms. Even for patrons. So bring your wipes and sanitizer. Cash only.
