Beep, Beep, Beep. The alarm in my room starts beeping, waking me up at 6:30 am. "Wilcox wake up, it's time for school." Mom yells. I respond, " I'm coming hold on. As I try to get up my body starts aching from soccer practice yesterday, but I push through trying not to make mom mad. As I come down for breakfast my mom, Brittany Smith, starts telling me how amazing I've become at soccer. I say, " Thank you," before going to get dressed and ready to go to school. I finally get to school, almost missing the bus, and when I walk into the cafeteria I notice my best friend, Mcdih Will, waiting for me. I walk towards him and he notices me, getting up to come greet me. " Yo, did you hear about the New York Cup?". " No, why?" I replied. Mcdih, tells me " A bunch of soccer clubs are joining, especially ours the New York Wolves, and the torpedoes." " The Torpedoes, who are they?" I ask. Mcdih replies to me saying, " The Torpedoes are the team Grug and Brug are in, they're also coming here to our school, DeMarcus High School. After talking for a bit longer the bell rings signaling to go to class. For the first period we have math class with the worst teacher ever. Not only do me and Mcdih hate her, everyone in class hates Ms.Deiver. After math class me and Mcdih start walking down the hallway towards our next class, but we see Doug and Brug sprinting towards us with hatred written all over their faces. We then dodge side stepping them barely dodging to the right. Doug and Brug then stop running and walk towards us, they then start trying to intimidate us by staring into our souls, with eyes like a deep sea. Once they start to walk away, me and Mcdih start to walk to our next class. After school me and Mcdih go to our soccer club, and Coach Aragon tells us that we are going against the Torpedoes for the New York Cup. When I heard this my heart dropped and I wanted to bawl my eyes out. The torpedoes are famous for 2 players, Dough and Brug. They're famous for running down the field, tackling and pushing through everyone. After planning on what to do when we have the tournament against the Torpedoes, we then start to practice doing drills. The next day at school Doug and Brug walks towards me, they start to tell me to leave my soccer club or else they'll destroy me during our match." They then start threatening me, this starts to make my heart drop giving me goosebumps. After seeing me turn pale they then start to walk away towards their class. I spot Mcdih waiting for me in the cafeteria, and we then go on with our day at school. The next day it's now a friday and today is time to compete in the tournament. While Ms.Deiver was talking her mouth off about how E = MC squared, me and Mcdih are called to the office over the PA. We started to pack up and walk to the office while everyone was laughing at us because they thought we were in trouble, but when we got there we weren't in trouble at all, we were called to go to our soccer club early to warm up for our tournament. Because it was a big tournament, we did some light exercises, ate, and got some rest. Now it was time to enter the stadium and start the match. When we were walking into the stadium the crowd of people made me want to go back out and go home, but I knew that the only thing I'm coming out with, is a trophy. The referee flips a coin with us as heads and the Torpedoes with tails, everything comes to who would get the ball first. The coin lands on heads, we start with the ball with me quickly passing to Mcdih. He starts to do stepovers, getting past Doug. He then tries to keep going but gets cornered by 2 defenders, Mcdih then passes it to me allowing me to do an elastico getting past a defender on my tail. I then quickly pass to my right winger, and he nutmegs their defender passing it to me to score the first point of the match. The crowd goes wild with my mom screaming, " THATS MY SONNNN." I start walking back towards the middle of the field, but Doug and Brug corner and starts whispering, " You better watch what you're doing or else we won't hold back and we don't care if we have to foul you or not." I reply telling them, " I don't care, your intimidation might work on other people but not me no matter what I will never ever let you win this match, I don't care if you break my leg I will still win." We then start with the ball again, I decide to fake a pass before rainbow flicking over the defender. Doug and Brug are now in front of me and Brug starts to run up to me trying to slide tackle me but before he can I pass to Mcdih, and he scores the second point of the match. I try getting past the defender but he steals it, passing it to Doug. Now that Doug has it, he's passing it back and forth with Brug. Me and Mcdih and 2 other defenders try to stop them, but they just power through. Because none of us can stop their rampage they shoot the ball towards our goal, but the goalkeeper dives and catches the ball. I praised him and he passes it Mcdih who was alre read more

The food was so delicious. Has all new tables and remodel the bathrooms probably no more than a year ago, since I last visited. Service was excellent our waitress "Chinna" was so polite and friendly. I highly recommend to try the food there very fresh. I am definitely coming back real soon. The only concern is parking It's a very small lot you may have to park on the street. read more

I visited this place for dinner because I had a Groupon for $50. When the waitress came over to take our order, she noticed the Groupon on the table and told us that they weren't accepting it anymore. Well, it was late and we were already there, so we decided to go ahead and order. Then I remember getting an email from Groupon last week, and lo and behold, I checked my phone and it was there, saying that the deal was canceled. Anyway, I'll be getting a refund for that. On with the review... I ordered the fish creole, which was a combination of fish and shrimp for $14.95. I comes with rice, and I asked for veggies instead of rice. But the fish and shrimp was good. The shrimp was very tender and grilled, and the shrimp was large, grilled and fresh. They didn't remember about the veggies and I still got rice. My hubby got the half lobster ($16.95), and it came covered in a mixture of shredded crab and onions. He couldn't eat it with the onions, so he scraped off and I ate it, which was pretty tasty. He didn't like the lobster at all (I found it tasteless), but ate it because he was hungry. Both dishes come with rice, green "bagged-type" salad, and some fried potatoes. Overall, it was edible, the fish and shrimp was good at least. Don't expect ambiance. It's a brightly lit restaurant with vinyl booth seating in the middle of a strip mall that has a Dunkin' Donuts in it, on the corner of Whittier and Lorena. They have 2 or 3 TVs, one had a soccer game on it, and another with music videos, and music blaring way too loudly from a speaker behind us on the wall, causing me to have yell across to hubby sitting across from me. I only came here for the Groupon, and was disappointed I couldn't use it. Overall, about $40 including tip, which isn't sky high, but I could get a better meal elsewhere for less or the same. This is my favorite restaurant in Boyle Heights. That is a bold statement when considering how much amazing food is in this neighborhood. With the option of grilled fish tacos, it provides a healthier alternative to the dominant Baja-style (fried) fish tacos. The Caldo 7 Mares is Mexico's answer to boulliabase, presented in a huge bowl and seasoned with lime & chile spice. Mojarra frita and a bucket of beers is also a personal favorite. The portions are generous, and the random Mariachi performances make for an enjoyable atmosphere. Mariscos Tampico is a good place to go with your family. Service is good. Went there today for Mother's Day and even though it was packed we waited like 5 minutes to get a table. If I can attach photos and give 1 star I would. I regret spending $50 here for two people because I ordered the medium order of shrimp and it came with an entire tomato that was cut in 4 pieces and an entire full onion also cut. It was on a big plate with orange slices to make it look fancy but I really just wanted shrimp keep in mind my plate was size medium and $20 but only came with 10 shrimps max if anything less and I waited an entire 50 mins almost an hour for that specific plate.
