This is the 2nd time the wife and I have been here. The 1st time was just ok but that was a few years ago. Today we went for Cinco de Mayo and we give them 5 stars. I ordered the Combination Dinner with included 2 Beef Enchiladas, Hard Beef Taco, and Mexican Rice. It was super tasty compared to the Panda Express I had earlier. This is a nice, family owned place we found on our way home from Florida. McDonough is a little town between Macon and Atlanta and this was one of the recommended places to eat...so we did. The salsa they serve, with chips, is thin, but spicy and tasty. We also had the guacamole...I highly recommend it...was house made and wonderful. I had the the El Agave Special. Aside from the not "sizzling" (as advertised) it was very good. The thing that struck me was that the meat, etc, was served on a bed of onions. That sounds odd, but they didn't really have an overpowering onion taste. The onions tasted like the fajita seasoning...weirdly awesome. My wife had, what can only be described as a small aquarium, of Sangria. Not super boozy, but quite tasty. He gave us awesome service (and he was working multiple tables by himself) and we didn't have any complaints of feeling forgotten about. The food was pretty good once we actually got it and it was correct. The shrimp tacos have mango according to the description, but upon arrival there were 2 small pieces of mango on each taco. When I asked for extra, I was told it would be .99. Our service sucked during the lunch hour. It took a while to get seated. Once we ordered it took a while to get our food, and then one order was wrong. Since the food took so long we asked for the checks when the food came out and specified for them to be split. When she brought the corrected plate, she had no checks. A storm came with heavy wind so she helped us transition inside. Once inside, we still didn't get our check. One word: PATIENCE!!! Where do I begin?!?!? This was my first time coming to this restaurant. Never heard of it before. I came for a 6pm reservation for a birthday party. We got there at 6pm and they were still setting the tables up. Finally we all got seated and comfortable and were told we had to share menus just for the simple fact that there were of 10 of us. Ok, no problem. Literally we sat there until about 645 before the waitress came and took our drink orders. For that size party, personally I think they should have had two waitresses. But I digress. Then after ordering our drinks, we proceeded to wait about 30 minutes just to get our drinks. Then another 20 minutes to order our food!!!! After we ordered our food, we waited and I do mean WAITED to even receive it. The food came out one at a time which was frustrating as hell and some of the orders were wrong. So if the plate was sent back, you had to WAIT to receive it again. Finally the food came, we ate and just to even get a refill of water- took way too long. And I realized that our waitress was overwhelmed, I felt bad bc the manager was a few feet away and kept observing our table. At no time did she come over and check to see what could be assisted with. Finally, it was time to get our checks and LORD HAVE MERCY- even that took forever. And I do mean FOREVER. The main issue with this restaurant was the wait time. Waiting to be seated, waiting to be served, waiting to get our checks. What would have been a 2 hour dinner was 4 hours bc of the wait time. And for the record, I asked everyone at the table "what grade would you give this restaurant?" As for the taste, believe it or not- the taste was not bad. It was the seevi Everyone said "F". The experience was HIGHLY disappointing. My advice to the management- if you don't have the staff, then EVERYONE needs to pitch in. It is unacceptable that we waited as long as we did. While traveling through GA we stopped for the night and stayed at the Tru Hotel. This Mexican restaurant is within walking distance of the hotel and was recommended by the hotel staff. Good choice. There is ample parking, nice atmosphere, outdoor seating, excellent service and the food was good. My husband and I always split meals when dining out and we shared the special, which was steak and chicken fajitas covered in cheese.The dinner came with Spanish rice and refried beans, both of which were good. The steak and chicken along with peppers and onions were seasoned perfectly, and very tender. It came with tortillas and of course chips and salsa. We both drank water and with a 25% tip the entire meal was $20. And we both had ample food. I would recommend this dining establishment. We realized we had eaten there before when we had stayed at the Tru in McDonough before and will probably eat there again as we are traveling. I've never had Chile Rellenos with meat in them... having said that, I would have them again. And the chunky guacamole was worth the flight from Canada... almost. Pros: I was seated immediately and our server was at our table in no time. I tried their guacamole for the first time. Very chunky and delicious, it tasted as if the cook took their time with preparing it. I got the Fajita Nachos! They we're absolutely delicious. That is probably my favorite item on their menu. Let me explain by saying this place has very very good food but the employees ruined the whole experience. The entire time the waitress failed to give us needed items such as plates, silverware, and fajita shells...for a very long time and after repeated requested. At the end we took our bill to the front desk to pay and my husband presented his United States Army ID card to the waitress because they stated they had a military discount. (Btw it would not have mattered if they honored the military discount...we would have have still ate there). The waitress messed up on the credit card and as she was trying to figure it out another male server came up to the register. He overheard the conversation with my husband and waitress and he looks at the waitress and with his back toward us says "I would have charged him more". So disrespectful to the military that provides his freedom. My husband told the manager and after she questioned him he said "no no I was talking about a table I served". The only problem with that is that he did not hear any of the conversation and automatically knew when asked "what did you say" that was his answer. Came to this location for my sister in-laws birthday, there was 8 adults and 3 kids, the kids and my self were the last ones to get our food. I ordered a shrimp dish and my dish came 5 minutes after everyone else's dish, towards the end of my meal I noticed that poop vien in my shrimp was not cleaned out, so I ate everything but the tail and saved it to show the manager, I didn't want a discount just to bring to their attention what I encountered, she proceeded to argue with me about how I finished my meal then brought it to her attention, she got very irate with our group and made a huge scene.she would walk away and come back and start arguing again.
