We chose Gambino Mexican Grill to celebrate my mother's birthday, and it was the perfect spot for the occasion. There were 12 of us, and from the moment we sat down, the service was attentive, friendly, and incredibly accommodating to our large group. The food was amazing across the board. We ordered a variety of dishes including sizzling fajitas, flavorful carne plates, Hawaiian chicken, burritos, shrimp cocktail, and of course plenty of cheese dip for the table. Everything came out hot, fresh, and full of flavor. The fajitas were perfectly seasoned and served sizzling, the carne plates were tender and well-portioned, and the Hawaiian chicken had a great balance of savory and sweet. The burritos were packed and satisfying, the shrimp cocktail was fresh and refreshing with the perfect kick, and the cheese dip was smooth, creamy, and hard to stop eating. The ambience did not disappoint either. The decor was nice and welcoming, creating a warm atmosphere that made the celebration feel even more special. Host was very friendly, server was great (he remembered my request for water as well as my mixed drink.. a small, but meaningful measure of attention), food was wonderful and I recommend. I'm Salvadoran and Mexican, was raised in California. So I'd say I was raised with some pretty good authentic cooking (my mom's cooking is A1 though)on the West coast lol. Bob Marley drink was made with tequila, so I went for it vs trying the mojito and it did not disappoint. I don't try my son's tacos, but they looked tasty. Price was more than some places I've seen, but good for the quality of service and food on a nice dinner out. I'll definitely be back if I do end up moving here. The restaurant is large and looks a bit more like a sports bar with a Mexican flare. There are tv's everywhere. The bar is large with many TVs as well. The menu is large and there are lots of choices including a lunch menu. The prices are reasonable. I Ordered a cheese quesadilla with a side guacamole salad. Came to Gabinos on Sunday with my wife. We were seated promptly. Her first words were "It smells like someone's food was burned." Our food arrived on iron skillets, steaming and smoking. I could hardly see across the table. The food wasn't bad, but was charred a lot. I don't eat burned meat, or anything else for that matter, because it's carcinogenic. It's just a fact. I ate around the charred parts. If you're into that sort of thing, you'll likely love this place. I do suppose you could order the food not burned. That's what I recommend. The service was good. I wish I could give it 0 stars Visited: 4/8/25 I came to Gabino's Mexican Grill last night for dinner while my husband is in the hospital, hoping for a good meal and a little peace. What I got instead was an absolutely frustrating experience from start to finish. The waitress ignored me and started taking orders from people who arrived after I did. When my drink finally came, it was made incorrectly--and instead of starting over, I watched the bartender pour the wrong drink into another glass and then make the correct one on top of it. Completely unprofessional. I then sat there waiting for TWO HOURS for my food. Eventually, the waitress asked if I wanted my meal to-go because they were about to close. I specifically told her NO--I wanted to see my food plated, taste a bit, and then pack it myself. Despite that, they brought it out in a to-go box anyway. And to top it off, they forgot the second order I had placed to-go. The food itself? Bland and tasteless. After all that waiting, it was extremely disappointing. I also watched 3-4 other tables dealing with bad service, and the manager was rude to them instead of trying to fix anything. I will never dine here again, and people deserve to know: Gabino's Mexican Grill has awful customer service, rude staff, and food that's not even worth the wait. So being from south Texas it's hard to find good Mexican food. I have to say Gabino's seems like they take their inspiration from Mexico City. Queso is great, white cheese. Salsa is holy cow! Couldn't say enough good things! Right when we got there we got seated by a the lovely hostess in the front. Then, our waiter Johnathan came by with our drinks. I can not say either about that young man! Extremely welcoming, and amazing conversation skills. The whole time he was chatting it up with me and my husband . We use to come at least once a week if not a couple of times. The manager, Omar, that was working 8/8/25 needs to be replaced immediately! We were here for 20 minutes with no one bringing our drinks or getting our order. If we had been a person coming in for our lunch break we would have had to leave and do without lunch. When we asked the manager if someone was going to help us he said our order was coming out. Really?! I guess they were going to read our minds because no one had taken our order yet. So when our server came out with 8 or so drinks on a tray, we only had 4 people in our group, the manager walked over and VERY RUDELY said "I thought you said no one had waited on you!" Seriously, we have been here this long and you are going to get an attitude with us?! The server was working as hard as could be. The manager needed to pitch in and stop giving the paying customers an attitude. The other managers they have here are wonderful. This guy by the name of Omar needs to leave this great establishment. I went to this restaurant and the manager was very rude. I called ahead of time and made reservations and was told once I arrived that the lady whom I spoke with never wrote the reservation information down so we had no table to accommodate our part of 30 ppl. Finally after asking if we could just sit on the patio I was asked if I can give them a name of someone to contact if anybody decides to run out on their bill. I gave my information even though I was upset bc I've never been asked that before...Everyone took care of their bills and tipped despite the managers comments and this fool still called the police to the restaurant as additional backup! After being separated from Mexican food for a whole 5 days I started having withdrawal symptoms. Like, not desperate enough to eat Taco Bell and pretend, but definitely enough to say "yes absolutely" when someone brings me here. They're really good at making margaritas! And they're served up to 32 oz. if you're feeling just a little adventurous. I would totally sit at the bar next time! Other than that, the food is OK if you know you're expecting Tex Mex. They are top notch at preparing their meets. Both the chicken and steak in our queso were actually so amazing I wanted a plate of just that with salsa (but not *their* salsa, it's too mild) and some tortillas. But the queso itself was runny and bland. I have no idea how to eat this with the side of flour tortillas without making a mess. I still liked it though. I had a second opportunity to try the queso when I ordered a chimichunga, which was topped with it. It was actually really modest in size, but came with rice, a small and ice-cold salad, and a dollop of sour cream (which you wouldn't really want on this) and some guac, which was OK and something worth ordering. Just enjoy it for what it is. It's really affordable, and with a well-stocked bar and FIFA on the TV, potentially fun. I'm OK with that. read more
