5/22/2022 A late lunch and always passing by.. This time I actually stopped. Inside is large and colorful.. Several customers eating and service was quick. Great server, who also knows every detail of the menu.. Lots of menu items and the best part is lunch price is 7 days a week! Prices are very reasonable! Chips were a mixture of corn and flour served along with salsa and cabbage slaw .. Ordered the number 8: I got the carne asada street taco with a pork tamale $8.98 Also one order of a chicken chimichanga.. Totally worth the price and food was very good.. I'll be stopping more often!

This place is still my go to Mexican restaurant when traveling through Minden! Love the fresh flavor, Margaritas as well as their top notch service. If you find yourself on US 395 traveling through, stop by and give them a try!

My favorite Mexican restaurant! Food is freshly made and the service is outstanding! Their chips and salsa are made daily, along with their mole sauce which is the best I've ever had, and I appreciate their beans not coming from a can but made fresh as well. My go to dishes are: Shredded beef mole enchiladas, Chicken mole, grilled chicken tacos, fajitas, or their carnitas. I appreciate that the grease in the carnitas is rinsed off/removed before being served. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed!

This is a great casual Mexican spot to check out while you're visiting the greater Tahoe area. I came here with my large family without a reservation and they were able to seat us immediately. Carla our server took great care of us, and was especially polite to my 96 year old grandmother which was so appreciated, especially when she has many dietary restrictions. Their homemade chips were warm, salty, and perfectly crunchy and served with two great salsas. I then ordered a michelada which came with the tamarind straw and Tajin rim (perfect) and an order of chicken fajitas. Portions are extremely generous so make sure to come hungry! Everything was well-seasoned, and everyone left stuffed with a few takeout boxes. Will definitely be back!

Mexican Bistro is a short drive down the 395 from David Walley's Hot Mineral Springs Resort: Shhh~I'm skulking leaving a REAL tip-I'm here!

This young man was the best. We were brought chips and salsa, and we also requested the extra spicy for the Hubby. The mild was perfect for me. The chips were nice and crunchy with a great corn flavor. We did order a sangria for me and a margarita for the hubby. They have a really nice lunch menu with great prices and a very extensive regular menu. I ordered the #6 off the lunch menu. A chili relleno with the sauce on the side and a crispy ground beef taco. The rice was so good, great flavor as well as the refried beans. 5 stars for each of these. The taco was so full of meat (ground beef) and fresh veggies. The chilli relleno was huge and perfectly cooked. I get my sauce on the side so leftovers will not get soggy. Now this sauce was like a ranchero sauce, looked like onions, celery and maybe tomatoes in it. It was really tasty. Hubby got a #13 off the regular menu. 1 enchilada, he got ground beef, 1 crunchy taco with ground beef and a tamale which was shredded beef. I tried the tamale and it was very delicious. We did ask to speak to the Manager who looked a bit nervous coming over. We explained to him it was our very 1st visit and won't be our last. We told him everyone wants to call you over to complain, we were like we wanted to give you major compliments on everything from the awesome waiter Ivan to the food and atmosphere. Music was at a perfect tone etc. We were seated by the bar area in a booth. Very nice in that area. We will definitely be going back

Gayle was off with her Sister on a Cruise, or what she calls "Sisters Without Misters" or "Misters Without Masters". I was coming in from Markleeville and stopped in Minden for gas an a burrito combo to take home as my first "bachelor" dinner. I hadn't set foot in this building since McDonald's was here, and found that the subsequent renovation to be impressive. I'll need to come back for a sit down with music, but for this visit it was a To-Go order at the counter. The order came out relatively quick and hot, so much so that I had to be careful taking it back to the car. It was a huge amount of food and so much so that it was good for 2 very satisfying dinners. Even a little microwaving on Night 2 didn't really dent the experience. My only quibble is that I prefer black beans to refried, but either forgot to ask or wasn't sure.

I checked this place out in the afternoon before deciding to go to dinner there. It looked pretty casual in the menu look like something everybody would enjoy. When we got there, we were greeted nicely and our server, JC, was very nice. All of the food was bountiful. We ordered the appetizer with three different items which was pretty good. It was onion rings, fried zucchini, and fried mozzarella sticks. The zucchini was a little undercooked. On to the main courses. It took longer than we would think and they brought it out in pieces. The two men got theirs first and my daughter and I got hers a few minutes later and Grandma was served last. Grandpa ordered a steak sandwich and he said it was good. My husband ordered a Philly cheese steak, which she said was decent. Grandma ordered fish and chips and she said it was so so. The french fries were thick steak type that were really good. A couple of us tried them. My daughter and I were excited when we saw the lobster tacos and we ordered them. The chips that came with them were salty beyond belief! We could not even eat them. When I told JC, she said there's nothing they could do about the chips and she offered to take the salad off the bill which I thought was nice. Both of my daughter and I could not eat the chips. The lobster tacos were not good. If the corn tortillas were warmed or cooked, it must've been very, very little. The lobster was chopped up in a wait and mixed with some kind of sauce that we can barely taste the lobster. We got two tacos and barely ate one. We took them home, but it didn't seem worth it to try to mend this. The best thing I can say is that the people they were very welcoming and pleasant. Also, JC gave my father-in-law a lemon bar for his birthday as we walked out. That was really sweet. Lastly, make sure you bring cash because you have to pay extra for using a card. We have to pay over $6 extra because we used a card. Am I understanding is that is happening a lot in restaurants. So, I don't think this is unusual.

It's the nearest practical airport to me. South Lake Tahoe is too busy and at high altitude as is the Truckee airport. I takes more experience to deal with the high altitude. The Taildragger Cafe is right here at the Minden Airport. Basically walking distance from where you can park the plane. The food here is very popular breakfast food, but they do serve all day till dinner even. Service is super friendly and efficient. The inside has I good view of the airport runways and planes. The full menu is posted online on their FB page. We had some lunch and did our meeting. I had a cheeseburger with fries and my boss had the Citation sandwich, which was roast beef with cheese and caramelized onions. My burger came with fries and we shared an order of onion rings. My burger was pretty good, cooked med rare as ordered. Pretty standard burger. My boss liked his Citation sandwich with the caramelized onions. The onion rings were decent as well. He had coffee too, and it was kept full and hot by the server. I'm glad this little restaurant is out here at the airport, it's a good place to have if you fly in and need food right away. The little airport I have in Redding has a Chinese restaurant with a view of the runways! I'll take little airports over big ones any day!
