    Eggs, potatoes and refried beans.

Food : i will say this visit "it was the refried beans for me!" Never have I had them seasoned so well. All of the food very good and freshly prepared. Service is great. I am a semi-local and we eat here one in a while. Each time has been a good experience. Molly has typically served us and she does a great job. Friendly and attentive. The staff seem to know some of the local customers by name. Ambience is nice stopping by your aunts house.

Pay phone that rings for togo orders?

Hearne, Texas. Yeah, you're gonna have to google that to see where in the heck the town is. But, you need to try to Mary's El Alamo Cafe. Think similar lineage to Austin's Matt's El Rancho and Fort Worth's Joe T. Garcias. Not as old; just rocking plates since the early 70's. Picked this place to try something new. We go through this town once a year heading to a car club event on the Texas/Louisiana border. Last year, Dixie Cafe got good marks. This year..it's Mex with side of payphone ringing off the hook next to our table. Friends and GF said they never saw me eat so much; basically the ol' #1 with a little bit of everything. Queso tostada chip, beef chalupa, crispy beef taco, tamale served with chili con carne, and a chicken enchilada with "gravy". Rice, beans, and guacamole too. Very old school with no other sauce options; forget ranchero, verde, jalapeno sour cream and so on. And there was the owner Mary sitting in the back with a watchful eye as food exited the kitchen. Super reasonable prices; four diners was around $60 + tip. Will be back!

Chorizo, egg and bean breakfast taco... "to go" order! Yummmm!!!

Passing through town on a Saturday morning and found Mary's El Alamo. Bummed that we were having to get our breakfast tacos "to go" because the aroma coming out of the kitchen was heavenly! Mary's Granddaughter, Vanessa, gave hubby and me a wonderful history of the 51 year Restaurant. They have a fun "wall of fame" too! The place is clean! And the breakfast tacos with El Alamo's homemade hot sauce were wonderful! The flour tortillas were fresh and tasty. I was a little ambitious ordering chorizo, egg and bean for on the road food! But well worth the mess! Hubby said sausage in his taco was tasty! Got to go back to Hearn just to try a lunch at El Alamo!

The menu prices are way outdated it should be updated. Online the fajita plates are $10.50 period but in reality they are $15.99.

We were SO very glad it worked out that way!! Everything we had at Ama's was excellent overall. I agree with the other reviews that some of the food lacked a little seasoning (specifically salt) but that is such an EASY FIX and nothing to really complain about in my opinion. It's so much better to add your own salt than to be served food that's too salty. We loved the chunky guacamole with perfectly made pico de gallo, and the combo fajitas with rice and beans. Chips and salsa were okay. The cheese enchiladas with ranchero sauce may have been the best we've ever tried. The sauce was perfectly spicy. I wish I had that those enchiladas right now to be honest! The margaritas were great too. If Ama's wasn't three hours away, we would be visiting very often. Although I'm unable to recall her name right now, our server was great too! We will definitely stop by Ama's again on the next road trip out that way.

The chips were nice and crispy and they were warm and the salsa was tasty. I like that the chips were not over salted. When the server came to take our order, she seemed to be confused by the fact that I could not eat sour cream and other people did not want guacamole. Which resulted in extra side orders of guacamole and a plate of sour cream. I ordered the barbacoa plate and my dining companion ordered the lingua. Unfortunately, the Barbacoa was not very good. It seemed a bit dry and did not have much flavor. Lingua was actually pretty tasty. It's a family place, I saw several families dining. Overall, I believe in second chances maybe if I ordered something different on the menu I would have had better experience.

We stopped by on our way back from Shreveport expecting some standard diner food. Lucky for us, the food was way better than expected and much higher quality as well. My son and I ordered the Chicken Fried Steak, while my wife ordered the Chicken Fried Chicken due to the recommendation of our waitress. Unfortunately, they brought out three orders of Chicken Fried Steak. We didn't say anything and accepted the food as it was. The Chicken Fried Steak was humongous and packed with flavor. It was a tad on the salty side and the meat was a little tough. But for a restaurant in the middle of nowhere, it was still better than expected. All of the sides tasted great, including the Mac n cheese, baked potato, coleslaw, fries, and onion rings. I would recommend stopping by here to support them and avoid the fast food chains.

The Pharm is in downtown Buffalo. A lot of locals eat here. If you are a hunter, you are going to love this place. On the front wall is one of the most impressive collections of deer trophies I have ever seen. Lots of restaurants with hunters for owners or workers put deer heads up on the wall. Few have as an impressive a collection of top score trophies as you will see at the Pharm. The antler widths are absolutely positively enormous. I didn't think they made deer with antlers that big. * * * What goes for the antlers goes for the food. Pharm takes pride in its steaks. This seemed like a good reason to order a rib eye sandwich. That rib eye was about as wide at the biggest trophy on the wall. It extended half a foot out of my bun on one side and half a foot out of my bun on the other side. The bun was merely a handle for picking the sandwich up. The rib eye was thin but absolutely tender. It was not the $150 steak you would get at an oil magnate's private dining club. But for an everyday steak sandwich, it was just great. I was happy to have it. I was also happy to have the onion rings that went with it. * * * I would say the crowd was 100% local. I was the only highway passer-through. There were a lot of people taking a break from work for lunch. Many of these guys had the name of their company embroidered on their baseball cap. There were retirees in camouflage having lunch with friends. There was one young Christian couple having a long friendly conversation with a lady who was probably the manager. The manager was holding a hammer and waving her hammer over the place. My guess is that they were talking about some kind of repair or remodel job going on in the restaurant. But then who knows? Altogether, it seemed like a comfortable neighborhood hangout. * * * I suppose you "could" do well by eating at the Subway right at the highway junction. I recommend you do better by going into Buffalo itself.
