I went to El Asadero Mexican Grill over the weekend with my siblings to celebrate Cinco de Mayo a little early, and we had such a great experience! My enchiladas were absolutely delicious, and one thing I really loved was that they make the guacamole fresh right in front of you. It made the whole experience feel extra fun and interactive. I ordered La Tóxica, which was such a good cocktail. We also shared the aguachile for the table the ingredients were hamachi, cucumber, red onion, jalapeño aguachile, and salsa macha and wow, it was fantastic. It was actually my first time trying aguachile, and now I totally understand the hype. The service was amazing throughout the entire meal, and the atmosphere made it feel perfect for either a date night or dinner with family and friends. Overall, such a fun and delicious experience. came in on a Sunday. lots of birthdays to be celebrated which was fun to join in on that! service was slow but i am not in a rush so i didnt mind until i waited a while for our check asked for a spicy salsa and waiter delivered which i appreciated drinks were strong and tasty down to the food which is why i feel it's okay, nothing jumps out. ok chicken enchiladas, to be honest chicken was dry but that's expected when the chicken is cooked slowly with no sauce or seasoning. i added my spicy salsa to it and it enhanced the flavors. empanadas were good as well. read more

The guac is made table side but the girl didn't have a good attitude. We asked for more seasoning and it seemed to upset her. The birria tacos and steak tacos were mid. The lengua tacos were good. The quesadillas were also good. Our last entree was a churrasco which was served with what looked and tasted like frozen broccoli heated up. We had to keep getting our servers attention when we needed things. When we got the bill and noticed that tip was already included, I understood why. The mariachi is good. I came here with my husband while visiting New Jersey. We had a reservation for 7:30 PM and were seated immediately, which was great. The hostess was very pleasant and welcoming. Parking, however, was scarce, so we ended up parking in a nearby parking deck. Unfortunately, the experience went downhill from there. I ordered a sangria and my husband ordered the pineapple mezcal cocktail. Both drinks were terrible. The sangria literally tasted like someone poured red wine over ice. I sent it back and they added sugar and fruit, but it was still awful. My husband then tried an Old Fashioned, but he said it tasted like it was made with very cheap liquor. For appetizers, I ordered the octopus. It was tender, but completely bland and lacking flavor. My husband ordered the birria empanadas, which were just okay--nothing memorable. For my main course, I ordered the fish. The presentation was honestly one of the worst I've seen. The fish was buried under a huge pile of lettuce in the center of the plate. Sometimes simple is better--just fry the fish, serve it with the sides, and let the dish stand on its own. The one highlight was the chaufa rice that came with it. It was actually delicious. I would order the rice alone. My husband ordered the tomahawk steak, which should be the star of any menu. Unfortunately, it was full of fat and seemed like it had been left under the heat lamp too long. The edges were curled and overdone. A tomahawk steak should be cooked with care and presented as the centerpiece of the meal, but this one fell completely flat. Overall, it felt like the sides and presentation were trying to overpower the proteins instead of highlighting them. The restaurant seems more focused on being trendy than on delivering quality food. It felt like a revolving door meant to bring people in and move them out quickly. The bill came out to about $300 including gratuity, which honestly wasn't terrible for what we ordered, but the experience was far from memorable. Pretty darn good. Caught them on a Saturday for brunch.nice little selection. Had 2 hand crafted cocktails. Nice ambiance. Plenty of photo ops inside the spot and out front. The staff was cool. As the only melanated person in the establishment I felt comfortable. I sat at the bar. They 20% auto gratuity your bill and include a service charge. Great experience at this location. We came after a Jets game and the place was packed but was able to get a table for 4 without a reservation. They have a big menu and varied items. Plates are on the larger side. 1. Guac - made in front of you out of a cart with ingredients. Very good portion and delicious! 2. Octopus appetizer - One of the biggest and tastiest (grilled) that I have had; I'd come back for this. 3. Shrimp fajitas - 3/5. Good amount of shrimp but had tail shells on. Salty which is on par with other restaurants. Comes with lots of veggies. 4. Leche Flan - Very good, thick, good flavor. Beautiful restaurant and decor, love the hand painted plates. Our server Katherine was friendly and attentive making sure we had everything we needed. We ordered the nachos with chicken - the tortilla chips were unpleasantly hard that we ended up scooping the topping onto the complementary chips that came with a side of salsa. Overall it was tasty but those tortilla chips were not good. I had the birria tacos that don't come with cheese - it's only $1 to add on so I liked that price add on but I can get birria tacos with cheese for much less than here and still taste great. My boys enjoyed their burger and birria chimichamga but it's hard to say we will be back. It was delicious, but overpriced in our opinion. I'm not sure if there's a separate menu with the non alcoholic drinks but it wasn't present on the menu we had. The virgin piña colada was ok, ended up tasting more and more sweet than I expected and for $9 - it wasn't worth it, I prefer my drinks more natural. They also add gratuity to the check -- we were just a party of three, so that felt unnecessary and a bit off-putting. We always tip well regardless of service, but adding gratuity for a small group can create less incentive for attentive service in the future. It's another reason we may not return. read more

I'll start by saying that my family and I visited on Father's Day, and the restaurant had only been open a little over a week, so we expected didn't expect it to be flawless. I also made a reservation in advance. After we were seated, no one came to our table for about 20 minutes. During that time, we looked over the menu and decided on our food and drinks. When our server finally arrived, they were apologetic and explained they were short-staffed. After placing our order, we didn't see our server again for quite a while. We wanted water but couldn't find anyone to ask. When our server eventually returned, I asked for water for the table, but it never came. I had to ask again later, and when it did arrive, we were only given one glass for our table of three. The highlights: The food was genuinely good. We had the birria tacos, skirt steak tacos, and another dish whose name I can't recall but comes in a Molcajete with mixed meats. All were flavorful with generous portions. The passion fruit margarita a bit on the sweet side for my liking. The space itself is beautifully designed warm, earthy tones and tasteful decor make it feel inviting and well thought out. That said, it's clear that the service needs work. What caught me off guard was the automatic 20% gratuity added to the check. That's not typical for the area, and given the level of service, it felt a bit presumptive. read more

When here on a Sunday afternoon, trying to get some tacos and some drinks, ambience of the restaurant was chill hostess was chill and the waiters didn't give me problems. Service was decent speed wasn't a whole lot of customers. Food was not the best we did like the nachos with chicken. There was barely any chicken for the nachos though and they charge five dollars for meat with nachos. The margaritas were mid and not that strong. Didn't taste like an authentic margarita, more like some mix that was bought from the store. read more

We were surprised that they added 18% gratuity by default, along with a "service fee" of 3.5%, plus the "optional" tip to the guacamole maker and a minimum of $5 for valet parking, which was not optional. I'm usually someone who prefers to leave positive feedback, but unfortunately our experience here was disappointing. We started with buffalo wings as an appetizer and ordered a chicken burrito and chicken quesadillas for our main course. All three dishes arrived at the same time, which wasn't ideal, though we chose not to mention it at the time. The bigger issue was that the buffalo wings were cold and didn't seem to be fully cooked. The burrito and quesadillas were just okay--nothing particularly memorable. On top of that, an automatic 18% gratuity was added, which didn't feel appropriate given the overall experience. Provide the service to deserve the 18%, don't force it on your customers. Because of these issues, we won't be returning. read more

This place looks amazing. The decor is great from the outside as you walk up, and inside where you are sitting. The staff all have on western clothing, even cowboy hats. I'm from Texas and it made me smile. The food is well seasoned and full of flavor. I was by myself and ordered the cowboy steak that was just wow. The only two issues I have and why it didn't get 5 stars is because they do mandatory 15% gratuity, even though I was by myself. Also if you use a credit card, they charge you a 6% fee. This isn't posted anywhere that I can see. This needs to be easily pointed out to every customer and publicly posted. Surprised are not good when the bill comes. read more

If you LOVE to tip for absolutely everything, boy, this is the place for you! As soon as you drive up, you are greeted with a sign that says valet parking, who will courteously remind you that they work off tips. If you want to order an app with guacamole, they come to make the guac in front of you, tip jar and all. There is a mariachi band that goes around playing for people, for a small tip of course. At the end of it all you get the bill with gratuity included. When you sign for the grand total, that final copy also asks how much you want to tip. (Note: it does not say "additional tip," just "tip," so if you weren't paying attention on the original bill, you might be tipping twice for the same service. That is my single biggest gripe with the entire experience and a VERY scummy business practice.) Ambiance is ok, food tastes fine, location is a little inconvenient but what can you do? Portions could be better and for how much the dishes cost, it would be nice if they paid their staff better wages so they didn't feel inclined to ask for tips at every right turn. read more

So the place looks nice, but the highlight of the restaurant was the hostess. She was warm and friendly. The bar team seemed to be preoccupied with conversation. Food was pretty boring. Starting this review while I wait for the server to bring water to my table. The ambiance at this point is obnoxiously loud, can't even hear if someone on the other side of the table would like me to pass them something. The back door of the dining area keeps being used which makes the restaurant extremely warm on this extremely hot day. I eaten at the sister restaurant near the mall and it was very good, this place is Secaucus is not so good. I have never been surprised by finding something in my food and this place surprised me. The waiters explanation was it was fat in my shredded beef chimichanga but it tasted like bad seafood, maybe octopus or something that fell into the shredded beef tray. I got sick to my stomach almost immediately the rest of the people at my table seemed to enjoy the meal. To summarize it was Obnoxiously loud had super slow service, and the food wasn't great. Several items from a table of 10 was sent back because they weren't prepared properly. I don't recommend it. read more

RACIST ESTABLISHMENT. Would not recommend to any black or Afro-Latino costumers. We visited this restaurant on 11/5/25, and had the most uncomfortable dining experiences we've ever had. The restaurant was nearly empty when we arrived, yet upon walking in, there were three women at the host stand. One of them walked away after looking at us-- and out of the 2 who were there, none of them greeted us or asked if we needed help, they just looked at us. I had to ask them if they had a table for 2. The hostess ended up asking the woman who walked away if she could take us. Our server seemed to have an attitude from the start, but we gave her the benefit of the doubt, assuming she might have been having a bad day. She did do her job, but again, throughout the service we could still sense an attitude. We were seated in a section where we were the only guests, and notably, the only Black customers in the establishment. About 20 minutes into our meal, one of the male workers walked directly in front of our table - close enough that we thought he was going to check on us or clear plates. Instead, he just looked down at our table and walked away. I said "hello," thinking he was approaching us, but he ignored me and kept walking, then turned around, and looked at me directly very rudely but still did not speak. He went back to the hostess stand and we started to notice the staff looking at us. At this point we started to feel that something was up and we were uncomfortable. After that, the workers at the front began looking at us, and talking and a different male worker came by our table again without any clear purpose. He walked to the back on the section (which had no other costumers) and I later on noticed had a door leading out of the establishment were he lingered for a while. He also then went back to the hostess stand and again they were all looking at us and talking. It was uncomfortable and obvious that something was going on. Then, a man in a white shirt - who appeared he could've been a manager -- stood at the entrance of the section we were in and stared at my partner. She looked up and noticed him looking so she said "hello". He said "hi" and continued to stare at which point I reacted with a face of confusion and he looked back at me and then walked away. By this point, we felt unwelcome and targeted. Two women sitting quietly, minding our own business. Being respectful, and trying to enjoy a meal -- yet treated with clear hostility. It's disheartening and unacceptable, and hurts coming from another minority group. After our server realized we noticed their discomfort in serving us, she dialed back her attitude, but it was too late at this point. At the end of our meal, one male server politely took our plates and said goodbye as we left - there were a bunch of workers who were standing around talking near the doors as we left, and that guy who took our plates was the only person who acknowledged us. Every other worker just stood and stared, including our server, who didn't say a word as we left. We were nothing but kind and to be met with such hostility for no reason at all was so disappointing. It's sucks to be made to feel that way for no reason at all. Unprovoked. Do better. I could never recommend this to anyone. Not to mention that they include a mandatory gratuity on the bill, which was excessive and given the option, we would've never tipped for this service. read more
