Wanted to order a quick lunch and very glad I got take out from here. I got the five empanada meal…read morewith a drink for $10. Franklin, the owner, was very nice and steered me to some great choices. I got the beef and cheese and the beef chimichurri, both outstanding. I am saving my guava and cheese one for later but it also looks good. While the empanadas were delicious, the generous portions of sauce complemented quite nicely and kicked it up to another flavor level. The pink Siracha is creamy with a kick. The chimichurri sauce is very fresh with lots of garlic. You can pick up to three empanada and two sauce flavors for the meal. The store looks empty but if the door is open, walk in and someone will be out from the back. I had dogs in the car so i waited outside and Franklin was nice enough to bring the order out, as well as with my sunglasses which i had left on the counter. I will definitely be ordering from here many times to come.

The empanadas are made to order so expect a little wait. I thought it was on the expensive side, but it was a better empanada than some other places that barely put any meat. Flavors were good - next time i'd probably go with just cheesesteak and chimi sauce. Other things were just okay, probably wouldn't try them again. Friendly service, I'd stop by again when the craving hits.

Being honest, the food here is about three-star-worthy…read more But the prices. The prices are from 2010, and as long as Chango keeps its menu at those prices, I'm going to keep loving them. Christ on a chopstick, I haven't seen an $8 sandwich since I was in grad school (back when dinosaurs roamed the earth)! We started with the Tamal Cubano, which was fantastically delicious, though the accompanying sauce wasn't hot at all. A shame, because it was well-flavored--just needed a lot more capsaicin. My Cubano was very well done, but barely had any pickle in it, which made me sad. I opted to add fries and wasn't sad about the small, thin ones I got (very McDonald's-shaped). However, the Pechuga de Pollo Adobada con Escabeche de Calabaza was a disappointment. The grilled chicken was drastically overcooked, probably because they used really lean breast meat. The accompanying Caribbean pumpkin was interesting, but too small. The other side of rice and beans was perfect, though--great bean texture and lots of savory flavor. With tax and tip included, our meal came out to $33. $33! You can't even get lunch for one person for that price at 90% of Manhattan restaurants south of Central Park. I could've cried with wonder at the bill. Time travel is real guys--at least financially. Just hop into El DeLorean and come to Chango.

Casual spot, good Cuban food…read more Their chicken soup was perfect for a cold winter evening. Not overly salty. We also tried their chicken empanadas and shredded beef dish. Both were tasty. We got tres leches for dessert and unfortunately it was still frozen and did not taste good. We let the waiter know and he quickly resolved. Recommend if you're looking for a cheap and quick lunch/dinner.

DDL is elite. They have it all. Fantastic pastries, cakes and sandwiches. Great coffees. Spacious,…read moreclean and cozy seating. Friendly and helpful staff. Super affordable prices. I've never eaten anything that I didn't like. My faves are: milhojas, breakfast croissant sandwich, and any and every cake with dulce de leche filling. I only tiny, minuscule complaint I have about this place is the lack of signage for the pastries and cakes. It would be nice to know what I'm looking at without having the ask. Absolutely zero gatekeeping here. Please everyone keep patronizing this establishment. I need this place to continue to exist in my hood.

The cake here is very good! Super moist, and the frosting is light and fluffy when ordered fresh…read more Unfortunately the 2 cupcakes I got, both alfajores and the chocolate covered one too were stale, like super hard and dry. So get anything fresh, like made to order cakes or things you see come out right when you're there. Otherwise you run the risk of getting old stuff, which sucks that they don't manage that at all. On a Sunday afternoon lines moved quickly and we were able to find seats. This is a cute cafe that offers plenty of savory items and lunches, plus drinks like matcha, cakes, pastries and cookies. There is also a bathroom! The women behind the counter were all nice and patient with my questions, they also kept the line moving and were quick. I had high hopes for the Alfajores as this is an Argentinian bakery but unfortunately the ones given to me were stale. The cookie was very hard. Also the Dulce de leche was too sweet and burnt tasting to me. I also got a chocolate covered one and the cookie in that was also hard and dry. The strawberry croissant was amazing. Never had anything like that before. Not too sweet and very flaky. It has a ribbon of red on the outside which gives it a unique look. I would love to come back and try savory items. I'll continue to stick with the cakes and croissants for desert and make sure it's fresh!

Their case was filled with so many delicious looking bites but I held some self restraint and just picked up a few pastel de natas and a guava and cheese danish. Delicious! Both were perfect and everything was under $10. They had so much there that I can't wait to stop back in for: Portuguese rolls, empanadas, drip coffee, etc. While Salem isn't right by me, when I am in the area, this will have to be my new go to bakery when I am in need of a box of pastries to bring along to a party (or just for myself).

Fresh bread, pastries, and baked goods that are incredibly affordable. I drive by all the time and there are always numerous cars double parked outside. Now I see what the commotion is about. The bread is great if you plan to eat it fresh or freeze for later. The Heroes and Portuguese Rolls are my favorites, and the prices are unbeatable. The Glazed Donut was a good try; it's more like a cake than a donut but would definitely pair well with a coffee. I saw the Empanadas on display and decided to try two. The Beef Empanada was pretty solid but the Chicken Empanada threw me off a bit with the carrots inside. With $10 in your pocket, you can walk out of here with so much! Highly recommend supporting this local business.

this review is from last friday as i forgot to check in!…read more wanted to try this place for the longest as my coworkers always talked how great this location is. so why not? it is about a 16 minute walk from the path station (newport) it's really not that bad of a walk (for those who don't mind walking that is) okay got to the restaurant and it was picking up as this was the start of the dinner hour. No live music but they were playing spanish music which sets the mood greatly. now if you wanted a quieter setting i'd advice eating outside, from the music playing and the groups of people having loud conversations it was a bit hard of hearing when i was asking the waiter questions. so we order the Tamal En Hoja (one) and no i completely forgot to take photos :( very soft and not too dense and i do enjoy pickle onions on top! okay for each of us: one had Vaca Frita, one had Masitas De Puerco, and our child had Camarones Ajillo. i have the Vaca Frita which came in the cup made of crispy plantain chips. Meat was not salty (thank the stars i'm on a low sodium diet because of my Bp so i was enjoying this) with the arroz moro and the side of lime was amazing. the family did enjoy their meal as we did not wait to long for the food to come. the nose level increased and it was definitely harder to hear what the waiter was asking us. but that's okay we all enjoyed ourselves. what i DID get a pic of was the desserts: Tres Leches and Flan con coco Tres Leches was good (not too sweet and the added chocolate balls made it good too) Flan con coco kind dens but flavor was there and i love coconut (it's coconut flakes on top) I will come back and try a different dish and maybe eat outside. for those who can't handle loud noises best to have earplugs (loop) or eat outside i guess. the staff treated us nicely and my son and i do look for that in places i go to make sure everyone is treated well and respected.
