The beef empanadas were delicious and the addition of a light sprinkling of powdered sugar was inspired. Added a whole other profile to the fried goodness. The causa was a new item for me. Think tuna salad and mashed potato casserole served cold, but as a light and refreshing dish, with some crema on top. This would be a perfect dish for any backyard mixer or bbq. Why 4 stars? Because this was a solid rendition of lomo saltado. --- --- --- I fell in love with lomo saltado while living in Tampa for the last 15 years, where I felt like we had a pretty decent contingent of Peruvian restaurants. When I found this food truck on Yelp with a perfect 5-star average, I knew I wanted to get here soon. After several weekends in a row of not making my way over, I finally got a chance to experience it. The verdict: it definitely hit the spot, but I do think I've had a bit better. The meat was seasoned well and the flavors were on point, but I think the super thick cut fries is what I didn't love. They were a bit much - I'd prefer a more standard size fry as the thick ones are a bit dry in the middle. But I definitely want to come back and try the paella sometime and will be sure to do so! read more

Feels like forever since I found a place with good paella, never would've guessed it has been hiding within a food truck! Not only was the food delicious, but the prices were affordable. I receive a large portion of paella and canned soda for $20. The owners were super nice, and willing to chat. I was brought my food, which I thought was super nice compared to a buzzer. I enjoyed this venue more than other food truck parks because the parking was so open an convenient. The seating was nice and shaded, if you wanted to stay. Everyone was home at lunchtime today so we decided to try the Peruvian food truck parked in the VFW lot on the South side of 1488. It opens at noon and you can call your order in, but we didn't. We decided to wait at one of their picnic tables, with umbrella, and broil till our food was ready. I had the paella...plenty of shrimp, clams, mussels and little fish fillets on a bed of parboiled rice. Very nice. The shrimp was split with the shell still on and was a bit difficult to peel. My son had the lomo beef sandwich with fries... said the beef was great and fries were soggy but that could have been bcs we did takeout instead of eating there. Wife had the empanadas which she loved and of course the alfejores for desert...a nice finish to a great lunch. This place is a very nice add to Magnolia eateries and definitely worth paying a visit. read more

Wow! If you're looking for authentic Peruvian, this is the place! We started with the empanada. It was super flavorful and the crust was flaky and perfectly. Next the seafood ceviche was so good, served just like you'd get it in Lima with choclo corn, crispy corn kernels, and sweet potato. Lastly the Lomo Saltado was delicious and super tender. Driving by and decided to stop into this location that had several food trucks. We tried snacks from Latin58 and it was awesome so we decided to have food from here. Let me start off with the ceviche...WOW!!! The ceviche is a definite slap from your momma delicious!!! It was tangy, savory and the dried corn was amazing! You literally wanna eat a mouthful of fish, shrimp, red onion and corn all at once to gets the amazing flavors. The second dish we tried was the chicken tallarín which is literally chicken with spaghettis but with some amazing spices. Very tasty, perfect on the noodle and chicken grilled to perfection. My kids wanted to try the salchipapas which is French fries with grilled hot dog slices and of course they loved it. I also really love this place as it's one of the only to have Inca cola, a definite traditional soda from Peru and it's really tasty.
