    El Bueno Gusto Plate
    Bryan M.

Cute little spot for breakfast. The food was great. They served warm, fresh bread with a delicious butter spread at the beginning. I had the El Bueno Gusto Plate with scrambled eggs, stake, chilaquiles and beans, it was delicious and really affordable.

So, while visiting Puerto Vallarta, I stopped in El Buen Gusto to grab food to take on the private boat tour with Jet's Boat Tours. Small, family owned restaurant with great service and excellent food. I ordered fish tacos and steak tacos. They were awesome & perfectly packaged in to-go containers for the ride! Close to the pier.

Excellent food, great service! Fresh ingredients. So wonderful. Small but still great. Open air covered seating.

This is a hidden GEM, in PV. Why gringos insist on overpaying for locally sourced and cooked to order Mexican food baffles us. We have visiting these folks for the past 5 years. The food is consistently fresh, tasty, often delicious and very fairly priced. We will keep coming back! There are also yummy daily specials. Muy bueno!

The spot is a little hidden off of Olas Altas. Food was authentic Mexican food. Ordered the chilaquiles with a green juice. The juice was very refreshing. The chilaquiles were not spicy but full of flavor. There was a red and green sauce, both were really good. Owners were really friendly and welcoming. Would definitely recommend.

It's easy to walk right by this place without noticing it. The fare is genuine authentic Mexican. The service was amazing and lunch was very delicious and satisfying. Be careful not to fill up on the fresh chips and salsa like I almost did. I opted for the mixed grill which had more than enough for two or three people. (Pity I couldn't take my leftovers with me.). It's right next door to Metamorfosis Day Spa (another gem). Stop by. You won't be disappointed.

I thought it would be a little scary not seeing people in the restaurant but to my surprise..... very good! Had the ceviche on the botanas menú and ordered aguas chile fire!!!! I do recommend this place if your looking for a home cooked Mexican meal.

Walked past this day after day and with my final hangover of my vacation it was almost the nearest door to food. This is 100% mom and pop place with family stuff all around as well as a handful of kids all well behaved. Ordered the club with fries and a coffee. The coffee is so sweet not my style I just coffee black no flavor. The club was on golden brown bread and inside was lettuce , bacon avocado and an egg. Came with fried that had just been cooked. If I had skipped the coffee it would have been perfect.. oh well nice little place.

What an awesome surprise been coming to PV for years and didn't know this place was here. So authentic and delicious. And SO inexpensive.

Had the molcajete grill. Was pretty average, and very similar to fajita dishes you would get in the states. Not good, not bad.

    Breakfast/Omlet

Good place for simple breakfast. They serve lunch and dinner but no good, breakfast is the best. Rack of service but not the worst lol Looks like family own little restaurant. Cash only. Note: They'll cheat the change, so be aware.

    Almost done

The food was authentic, delicious and very inexpensive. We will definitely come back. The payaso room divider brought back bad childhood memories.

The food was ok though the guacamole was superb. A note, though - they DO NOT accept credit cards despite what this site says.

You have to pluck a third of the meat with your fingers just to get the tortilla to structurally hold. There is always a line. On a random Tuesday it stretched down the street long before the door opened. I waited twenty five minutes at four in the afternoon for a seat inside. No to go orders, no doggy bags. You eat what you order and leave behind your self respect. The dining room is packed tighter than a turtle's pecker. A dozen staff members move around each other like bees tending the hive, the rhythm wild and relentless. The tacos themselves are intimidatingly large, the vibe unlike anything I have ever seen. Come for the al pastor, and come hungry. If you cannot finish, no option exists but to weep over the abandoned morsels.

It's thicker, more cheesy than what I've ever had before and very delicious. We paired that with the prime rib tacos, it was a plate stacked with meat and 4 tortillas under it, more than we could eat. The seasoning was great, it was diced so small that it was easy to eat. I got a virgin strawberry margarita, the wife got a coke. It was very affordable.

We ordered the ribeye, al pastor, and chorizo tacos. The ribeye had so much fat that we had to pick through it just to eat it. The al pastor was very average - I've had much better at plenty of other taco spots. The biggest disappointment was the chorizo. It wasn't traditional chorizo at all; it looked and tasted more like chopped-up hot dogs. We barely touched it because it wasn't what we ordered expecting, and it just wasn't good. The presentation also wasn't appealing. The meat was simply piled on top of two tortillas, making everything messy and difficult to eat. They were also pretty stingy with the grilled jalapeños. The salsas didn't do the food any favors either. None of them really stood out, and the green guacamole salsa actually tasted like it had gone bad, so we stopped eating it. Service was attentive, but almost too attentive. Staff kept coming by every few minutes to ask if we were finished or if we needed anything. While I appreciate good service, it made us feel like we were being rushed through our meal instead of being able to enjoy it at our own pace. Overall, I don't understand the high ratings based on our experience. With so many amazing taco spots in Puerto Vallarta, this one didn't come close to meeting the hype. Unfortunately, we won't be coming back.
