Puerto Vallarta can cater to its tourist with more Americanized food so we appreciate authentic hole in the wall places that remind us of d me of parts of Mexico my family's from. This is a hidden GEM, in PV. Why gringos insist on overpaying for locally sourced and cooked to order Mexican food baffles us. We have visiting these folks for the past 5 years. Walked past this day after day and with my final hangover of my vacation it was almost the nearest door to food. This is 100% mom and pop place with family stuff all around as well as a handful of kids all well behaved. Ordered the club with fries and a coffee. The coffee is so sweet not my style I just coffee black no flavor. The club was on golden brown bread and inside was lettuce , bacon avocado and an egg. Came with fried that had just been cooked. Wow! We stumbled upon this place just checking out menus for dinner. Looking inside I was a little hesitant, but the menu was good and the prices were fair- so I thought we'd give it a shot. They served us complimentary chips and made in house sauces and dips to start which were quite good, and I ordered sirloin tacos and my partner ordered a shrimp burrito and neither of us were disappointed at all! During many Vallarta stays over the years, it became a sort of "home away from home" place for us quite often, for breakfasts and dinners. "Down home good" Mexican and International fares. What we have had there: typical breakfast fare - eggs, with chorizo sausage, ham, bacon, chilaquiles, and etc., fish (dorado) - pan-fried fillets, and via fish tacos, shrimp - breaded, and via tacos, burgers and cocktails, chicken - fried, liver and onions, hamburgers, some very good freshly-made guacamoles, nacho chips and freshly-made tasty salsas, tortillas (corn) - hand-pressed and made-to-order, and cold drinks. Very decently-prepared food, inexpensively-priced, and served up in a casual, friendly, family-style surrounding. It may not be a place that everyone would like and find 'comfortable' - it is family-oriented, and some of the young family members when present can be quite 'active' at times!! A great family-style restaurant in an unassuming environment. Much better than the tourist traps down the street. The owner is super friendly and not pushy at all. We ordered 3 beef tacos, 1 order of garlic crab (comes with two crabs), and some beers. The crab took a while but it's delicious. Service is very good. We'll definitely come back. We go to PV annually and know many restaurants. But this trip we stayed in Old Town and this place was just over a block away. We ended up eating there atleast five times in ten days. It is family owned and operated and the food is home cooked by mama. We had both breakfasts and dinners. The menu has a big variety. At breakfast we had everything between nut waffles, fresh fruit, and chilaqueles and eggs. At dinner we had fresh seafood, coconut shrimp, and Mexican food. Did I mention the the cost??? Cheap! They are one business off of Olas Altas on a side street which is their downfall, because most people walking along don't even see them. Take a chance. My husband and I just spent a week in Puerto Vallarta. We aren't used to traveling places so touristy and found refuge among wonderful waiters, the chef, and delicious food at this restaurant.
