The food is delicious! The pork Columbian Tamale was soooo good. Of course there is a reason for only three stars! The women taking orders at the counter was rude to me from the second I walked in. Then I watched her. All the men she was saying, "hi how are you today". The women she waited on were treated just like I was treated. Barely a greeting, took order, and told me to get my own drink. 4/5 because I really do think the food is great enough to make up for the rest. The rice is addictive, the quesadillas and burritos come packed with veggies, everything is really flavorful, rather than just salty and spicy. That being said: the prices are very high, and seem to be "what people will pay" rather than "what we should be charging." The portion sizes aren't universally small but the smaller portion sizes definitely don't come with a proportionately smaller price tag. Also, be very specific when you're ordering and make sure you check any "to-go" orders. Service isn't much of a problem because the only time you're served is at the counter and as the food is brought out, but I've had multiple "uhh, this isn't what I ordered" moments. Again, the food really is great. I think everyone should give this place a shot. I just wish the owners ran things a little differently. read more

Absolutely the best Colombian food. The wraps are heavenly using fresh ingredients and with different flavors of tortillas as the wrap. The food is not as greasy or salty as many south of the border restaurants can be. Portions are generous. Quesadillas, pupusas are also featured. Very good Papusas. We had the pork and the Zucchini. As the Name would suggest the place is like an alleyway in size. There are small tables on the right side which leaves a place for the line to the register on the left. It is cozy but nice, I would highly recommend it. read more

This place is delicious! Papusas were GREAT as were both of the sauces on the side. I wasn't sure about shredded beef tacos, but they were GREAT...easily the best tacos I have found in Golden, CO so far. This is really more like a three star but that 4.5 needs to be knocked down, it's totally misleading. My burrito was just ok, and my bfs Hawaiian quesadilla was overloaded with canned pineapple and pineapple juice, it had copious amounts of liquid running out of it which made it crazy soggy and eventually it just fell apart. I love this place! Slammed right up next to D-Deli on main street El Callejon is a hidden treasure. There will always be lines out the door for a $15 sandwich but if you want your money to go further, and are ready to be smacked in the face by flavor, I definitely recommend passing on D-Deli and hitting up this little hole in the wall. Ready for a bonus? There is almost never a line for El Cajellon, and trust me it is NOT because of the food! My favorite meal is the pulled pork burrito. The papusas are incredible but they occasionally verge on being too rich for my tastes. Their secret pink sauce is AMAZING, I would die happy drowning in a vat of that magical dip. The staff are kind, quick and take pride in their work. I have never hit up the Colombian Plate as some reviewers have but I have always left feeling full and happy, nothing has ever seemed overpriced or left me wanting. They make fresh to order delicious food and it is run by the kind of folks I want to support. My biggest complaint is that it is closed at odd hours - probably because it is run by one dedicated family. read more

I thought the pupusas here were amazing. I wish I could eat them daily, they were the most delicious, cheesy, warm, soft, comfort food ever! $6, can't beat it. Not only were the pupusas great but the radish-cabbage slaw on the side was tasty too and I don't normally like slaw at all. This was not a soupy or creamy slaw, it was fresh, light and tart and gave a nice balance to the heavy (but not greasy) pupusa when combined. I had a green chile and cheese, my mom had a black bean and cheese and our friend had a spinach, mushroom and cheese. While I think we all meant to share with each other, we inhaled them before that could happen. They were just so good! Words can't describe the heaven of a gooey cheesy pupusa. I had a sip of the coconut lemonade ($3) which tasted like a virgin pina colada, very refreshing. We also shared a bowl of chicken stew with avocado and capers that we just had to polish off in spite of being stuffed from our pupusas. It had a complex but comforting blend of flavors and textures. Growing up in Puerto Rico, I was able to experience real Latin American foods, and this was just like a restaurant back in El Viejo San Juan. This is as good as it gets in Colorado. We first entered the place after seeing Colombian Tamales wrapped in banana leaves (just like a native Puerto Rican dish called Pastelles) being eaten by a couple outside. As we started to discuss the menu, the lady cooking overheard us talking Spanish and jolted over to speak to us. She was sooooo friendly! She gave recommendations on what to eat and my mom enjoyed a great conversation in Spanish with the lady. After their talk we ordered 2 Colombian Tamales ( $5 each) and 1 Pork Papusa (3.99), and went to sit outside. The young girl that seemed to be the lady cook's daughter brought out our food and we were ever so delighted! The lady cook even threw in a side of ripe plantains so that she "would make sure we became frequent customers". It was the best meal for the best value we have yet to eat in Colorado. Hands down an awesome hole-in-the-wall place in downtown Golden to sit down and chow down. Loved the atmosphere of the little place and the outstanding, authentic food and service. read more

I went here to this small hole-in-wall eatery twice, now. And I say that with respect because it works. It's like a little gem almost tucked away down town. I've had the tacos and I've had the papusas. Both are delicious and they carry a very unique character that I have not had anywhere else. Some of the ingredients are re-used in these recipes but they are great ingredients so I will not hold that against the place. These folks know what they are doing. My wife gets the vegetarian options here which is nice that they have that option. Just thought that I would throw that info out there. The tacos are my favorite though. Great body, perfect filling, excellent flavor and a great price tag to follow it all up with. and I never feel the need to put any other sauce on them. That's an accomplishment in my book. I'd recommend this place, for sure. Keep in mind that it is LATIN, not mexican. please don't assume this is mexican food because this is a different flavor profile and it stands out with its culinary style. read more

This place is phenomenal! I went there yesterday for lunch and had the chicken burrito - smothered. Easily one of the better burritos I've had in Denver. The ingredients taste fresh and the variety of veggies used in the salsa makes it super delicious. Today I went back for the wrap - #6 with a chipotle spinach wrapper. WHOA!
