Found this spot using Yelp! It had 4.5 stars so thought it might be worth a try. My niece had a volleyball tournament near by. We got the Molcajete. It was really good! The chile was very flavorful. The homemade tortillas definitely made our meal 100xs better. I'm not from the area but I'd definitely go back. It was a Sunday afternoon i noticed a lot of people having soup bowls. The red one tastes like sewer fish water and then green one has good flavor but is SPICY as hell fire. Like mouth burning for 20min after. The service here is absolute trash. The guy up front who runs the place is rude, dismissive and service is extremely slow in general. I wasn't sure to choose somewhere sit and order or just order at the counter, so I walked up to the cashier. Deapite many clean and available tables, the man at the counter told me to sit at a dirty table. They came and cleaned it up shortly after. I ordered two street tacos and one order of a tostada. The tostada is one plate sized serving of mainly shrimp, just the way I wanted it. Tacos were good but the shrimp from the tostada were rough. While I loved the tacos, not so much the tostadas. My wife and I live within walking distance of this place, and we feel so lucky to be nearby. We've worked our way through most of the menu, and everything has been fantastic. The nachos are one of our absolute favorites--they seriously load up that box and never skimp on anything. Their empanadas, tacos, burritos, fried fish and ceviche are all incredible as well. Restaurant of the month April 2022 - our family is doing a rotation where one of us gets to choose a new restaurant to try each month. Located in an obscure plaza that I've never noticed before! It's a sit-down authentic Mexican restaurant that seems to specialize more in seafood than your usual tacos and burritos, though everything we tried was yummy so I don't think you can go wrong. I ordered the tostada ceviche, and the rest of the family got carne asada and al pastor tacos. The food itself would be 4-5 stars, and the homemade tortillas are delicious. But the overall experience, slowness, and lack of service dropped this to a three. You order at the counter, and all prices are blocked out on the menu (maybe they're in the process of updating prices), so I only knew what the prices were around because I saw the menu on Yelp. However, when you order you don't pay. You pay after you eat so you have to wait in line at the counter just to pay once you're done with your meal. Our food also took forever! It was already a late lunch for us at 1PM so I was pretty hangry as it was. Took 30+ minutes for us to get our food. Then had to flag someone down for water, for utensils, for condiments, etc. Just overall not a pleasant experience, but the food really was delicious. read more

You may be getting tired of all my reviews of Mexican Restaurants, but I am barely scratching the surface. We live in SoCal and our neighbors to our south have brought us values, culture, and our probably one of our favorites that we can digest, FOOD! As a young boy, I thought Mexican Food was served only via drive-thru or in less than two minutes. If you know truly about Mexican Food, its created by the heart of the kitchen. Like many other restaurants, we drive to find another GREAT establishment. Plus, my wife is still looking for MORE shrimp. Let's visit Mariscos Valencia Mexican Restaurant in Tustin. Located on the northwest corner of McFadden Ave/Tustin Village Way in a small shopping center, you will find in the middle of them all, Mariscos Valencia Mexican Restaurant. Plus, it's across from a certain jeweler that I got my wife's wedding ring from that makes this place a little more reminiscent. There are plenty of parking spaces so you wouldn't miss out on Mariscos Valencia's delicious food! When you walk in, you don't get seated right away. You will order at the counter and the staff member will help select which table to get you seated at. You will also pay at the counter as well when you are done with your meal. It almost resembled an honor system type deal. We were greeted by, what it seems to be the owner. He was a funny guy teasing jokes with my wife and even during our meal to check up on us. While the name of the restaurant does offer mainly seafood, it does have chicken (pollo), steak (asada), and chorizo (pork). They have tilapia, octopus, shrimp, thin sliced Chicken Breaded Filet...Good Lord!! Mariscos Valencia knows what their customers want. My wife ordered her infamous, Camarones al Mojo de Ajo ($13.99). As for me, I ordered a simple Pollo Burrito ($8.99. Little did I know that LITTLE burrito packed quite a bit. I don't have the prices for the Mexican Coca Cola and the Large Horchata, but my total was $34.45. If you do plan on using, credit card, the restaurant charges a 3.4% surcharge on top of your total. The wait for our meal was about 10-12 minutes after ordering and one of the staff members helped clean our table as we just missed the major lunch crowd who had a lot of Micheladas! There are a few TV screens in the room, but it was a inviting atmosphere with people enjoying their food without a care in a world. It looks like Mariscos Valencia updated their tables as well since we had booths and on the photos from other Yelpers were tables. Looks like they are improving the experience and gaining new customers with the upgrade. Our food came with our drinks and, of course, I had to try my Horchata!! Large was LARGE!! It was so delicious that it helped me prepare for the obstacle that was my small order of a Pollo Burrito. My wife was happy that her meal came with tortillas, but the presentation alone of the Camarones al Mojo de Ajo was superb. My wife said that their Garlic Sauce was much sweeter than others...That's OK! It makes them unique from other places that prepare Camarones al Mojo de Ajo. As for my burrito...It was a huge single order. It was like they packed as much food into the tortilla. It had good slices of chicken, red onions, rice and cilantro. I am so glad that the staff cut the burrito in half. Add some of the garlic sauce from the Camarones al Mojo de Ajo...this became an unintended upgrade burrito. Places like Mariscos Valencia keep the search alive for more Mexican Food Restaurants and how well they make food without having too much advertisement. The owner/manager made a great impression on us. He wondered where our meat was...WE ATE IT ALL!!! Once you walk outside, you will notice the jeweler across the street. It reminded me of the day, that I was serious in marrying my partner for life. Mexican Food and Diamond Rings...Best Combination Ever!! The Journey you've made is a story you've made alone.
