Take out order of the SaltiesT Langostinos Half of them had no meat as though someone snacked on my order prior to me getting it.

We had some langostinos last month and they were good... except no extra sauce (we like to dip the fries in it) - The order was take out... ]When you eat in they tend to give you plenty sauce on your plate] Went back today got the same thing and also take out...and boy that was Not good. It was SALT with Langostino!! They were extremely salty even after adding lime - they were also dry. There was no flavor to the langostinos other than SALT... They gave no lime and no extra sauce (you know for the fries) ... it was so hard to eat them so salty. Half of the langostinos had no meat as though someone snacked on my order prior to me getting it. The order comes with sides.. the rice was plain .... Fries were ok. Felt like a rip off order. Will not be going back.. can find okay fries in plenty of places. Presentation to go was good... I'll attach an image

We walked back out and found the door to the restaurant. Staff is warm and friendly and we were seated quickly. Our server was Robert and he was great! He gave his recommendations for which sides would go best with our meals and I felt they were spot on. They give complimentary bread and butter. It was warm and delicious. Hubby ordered the rib tips with fries, baked beans, and had the hot and mild barbecue sauce on the side. I ordered the 1/2 dark smoked chicken dinner with mac-n-cheese, spicy Cajun green beans, and spicy honey garlic barbecue sauce. I agree with Robert, that the sauce pairs very well with the chicken. The tips were tender and falling off the bone. He didn't care for the fries and loved the baked beans, even though they were a bit too spicy for him. My chicken was also very tender and I enjoyed the smokiness. The green beans had the right amount of spice although they were not as spicy as the baked beans. The mac-n-cheese was creamy. We were too full to order dessert. Maybe next time. This is a great neighborhood staple and will definitely be back.

It may be the original location, or that honor may go to the yet unvisited-by-me third location closer to the Loop, but in any case, this Huck Finn definitely feels different from the one I'm used to. The lighting fixtures, booths, and art all have the same tacky early-2000s feel as the other location, but that's where the similarities end. This one is much smaller, although its dessert-case area has its own tables, and the outside of the building advertises ice cream. This Huck Finn feels like a coffee shop, which is probably why my dad says he likes it more than the "original"--original to us, at least. It has a counter, and while the building looks large from outside, it has about half the seating of Oak Lawn. There's a funky mirror near the bathrooms that makes it look like there's a back dining room--or possibly a Den of Iniquities like the original--but it's all an optical illusion. Service is quick and efficient, as it is at Oak Lawn. Our server, though, was a familiar no-nonsense throwback to an earlier time. Oak Lawn has some of those, but most of its servers are younger women with the thickest Chicago/Great Lakes accents you'll ever hear. (Seriously, although they're all under thirty-five, they sound like they're about to start collecting Social Security.) She was short on small talk, but she made up for it with sass and a whole lot of hard work. The food is good, although the menu is more limited than Oak Lawn's. One thing I don't like is that the menus are flimsy printouts. Oak Lawn at least has laminated pages, although I miss the old multi-page booklet-style menus. Oh well. They have Texas and Alaska donuts here, so it's a legit Huck Finn. It's physically possible to make a left turn onto Pulaski from their parking lot, but I think it's illegal, as you'd have to cross a quadruple yellow line. I spotted two cop cars near here, one when we were arriving, and one when we left, so be careful out there.

The waitress recommended some potato spirals because they didn't have diced potatoes. Let me say, it was the best decision ever. I would definitely recommend this place.

Of course, it was a very humble…read moreneighborhood, and people were always looking for a Mexican panaderia that would take the edge out of driving to get pastries. Mexican pastries that is, and although they are plentiful in some neighborhoods, this area at the time, lacked. I am happy to say that now it's been here for many years since I have left, and the pastries and panes (breads) are super tasty. I feel as if I traveled to another time when pastries were done by hand and not machine. But alas, I did ask the cashier, and she did state that they are no longer made all by human hands, but some are. I like that. I couldn't tell which ones were made by hand as they tasted very close to the breads of mu younger years so that puts a smile on my face. When you walk in, you can actually smell the breads, and it is a good feeling. I did order quite a few pastries, and the bill was very decent in price. I've gone to others in the vicinity, and I can say that their prices are not even close and higher. So, if you want a Mexican pastry that is not only good, but very inexpensive, you have to try their shop. I also did purchase a banana and pineapple cake for a co-worker's birthday. Now although it was good, I didn't like the way the worker decorated it. She assumed because it was for a female, that pink would be good, and that sprinkle's also were to be added. Alas, when I did get to work, I was surprised that it was more for a child. I should have checked it first, but I didn't, my mistake. But it was good regardless. I would definitely go back for more, as I hope more people will. Always try to help the local businesses before the big stores I say.

I decided on the Flagship sandwich which is a take on the Caprese sandwich. The cheese was amazing with a nutty slightly sharp favor. A combination between a sharp cheddar and goat cheeses, smooth and creamy. But what made it a bit disappointing was the sparseness of the chopped basil. It was underwhelming and only a hint of basil was detected in maybe every other bite.. If not a whole leaf, a sprinkle of shredded basil would have provided a more satisfying and consistent flavor that I kept anticipating. Service was pleasant but there was a wait. There was only one young lady making the sandwiches. They may need another oven to speed that process up. The coffee came quickly, though. Airport area was fine. Plenty of seating and charging stations!

The next screen only gave 3 options, the lowest was 18% and NONE of the options were "custom". So this was off to a bad start being forced into tipping 18%. Then the workers didn't have good customer service, no eye contact or friendliness at all, it's like the know they won't likely see most people ever again being this is at an airport. My expectations were not high, but I figured a grilled cheese and fig sandwich would be hard to mess up. However, that was not the case. The sandwich was burnt and only cute through the top slice of bread so I had to use my hand to tear it apart with made the bread fall apart. I also noticed a smell when I opened the wrapper that smelled like old oil. It wasn't fried so I don't understand this, just smelled of old oil or old butter. The bag it came in was all greasy too, I forgot to take picture of that. So for $15.69 for only a grilled cheese and dog sandwich, I do not recommend.

The service was a brighter aspect of our visit. Our server was friendly, personable, and made a genuine effort to ensure we received everything we requested. She provided attentive service and created a pleasant dining experience despite the shortcomings of the food. Overall, this visit reinforced an impression I formed years ago after dining at another TGI Fridays near Spokane, Washington. At the time, I hoped that experience was an isolated incident. After giving the brand another opportunity, I no longer believe that to be the case. While convenience brought us through the door, the quality of the food did not provide a compelling reason to return. Regrettably, this will be our final visit to TGI Fridays.
