Service was good but food was very disappointing the mojarra was over fryer and with no flavor and the green cheese enchiladas were horrible the cheese wasn't even melted.

It's FAR too LOUD in here! Inside and outside. We sat outside and the music volume was still overwhelming. They had a live band inside and a Dj outside. The food however, was pretty good. The service was good. The food was a bit pricey though for somewhere I couldn't wait to LEAVE. There were a lot of people there though so it's definitely the place to be if that's your thing. I however, have no interest in returning.

    Paella was pretty good.

I wish I had read the reviews before coming to this restaurant. The music was too loud to the point that I couldn't hear the person sitting next to me. We literally had to use text to communicate. At a club alright, but at a restaurant, unacceptable. This seems to be a complaint folks have and nothing has changed. My server couldn't understand me. I literally had to point to my food on the menu to order (the first menu I got had gum on it). My paella was pretty good but the other dishes folks had at my table were subpar. The drinks were watered down. I will not be coming back.

Decided to try a new place after running an errand. After having a miserable experience at another Mexican restaurant recently, I was apprehensive about trying another small Mexican place. The restaurant was a nice looking place, but I'm not sure what it is about mom and pop Mexican restaurants that has them blasting the music as loud as a night club on a Friday night. The place was loud. It was difficult to have a conversation. This time around, I was gonna go for something simple when it came to food. A plate of beef enchiladas is my usual go to when trying new Mexican places. My thinking is that it's a pretty difficult thing to screw up. My wife ordered some tacos with a cheese sauce. I can't exactly remember the name of them. The waitress asked me if I wanted green or red sauce on my enchiladas. She was very friendly and had a smile the whole time. Food was served and my enchiladas were served with green sauce. I told the waitress that I wanted red sauce and she took my plate to get corrected. During this time, I can see my wife making faces while eating her food. I asked her what was wrong and she said the food was pretty terrible. My wife is not as picky an eater as I am so if she's making faces, that's not good. She said the meat was rubbery and the cheese was more like water. She also mentioned the rice not being very tasty. Being the soldier she is, she still tried getting through most of it before giving up. My enchiladas arrive and i quickly find the same is true for me. These beef enchiladas were rubbery beef chunks with an odd taste. Not ground beef like most beef enchiladas. The sauce was strong like a hot sauce. The rice was just nasty. I don't have a better description for it. I did my best to try to get through the plate but I couldn't even finish one whole enchilada. When the waitress came back to check on us, I asked for the bill. She asked if we needed a to go box and we both quickly shook our head that we did not. The manager came to our table to ask us how our experience was while holding our check. I explained to him that the food was just not good. It was as simple as that. He handed me the bill and had removed the enchiladas. I told him I was not trying to get over on them and was willing to pay for my meals. I know there are people out there who are looking for any excuse to get away with a free meal when dining out and I am very adamant about making sure I'm not confused with one or them. In the end we didn't pay for the enchiladas and as soon as we were out I drove next door to the Wendy's drive thru. I was starving. I didn't want to completely dismiss this place by giving it a one star review here. I found the waitress to be friendly and the customer service, in my personal opinion, was pretty stellar. This is why I added another star. I just wish the food didn't taste terrible. It was really disappointing. I never not finish my plate.

First off I would like to warn some folks the music is loud they have ppl playing loud music so if that's not your thing maybe this place isn't for you..... the food there is always amazing.... I love ceviche so this is one of my go to spots and the meals are always really good if you are ordering the top is the line stuff.... Maybe the generic burritos and tex Mex is your average meal that you get at most other places but I don't eat much tex Mex so I never get it but you get the fajita plates or oysters or other seafoods the food hands down is awesome.... Went there last night the drinks were strong and the service was good we sat outside since we don't go there for the live bands....

Officer Aguilar to the rescue! shout out to officer Guerra & officer Esparza too!

The food, the service, the ambiance all were 10/10! The only small inconvenience for me is the restroom wait as there is only 2 stalls and a lot of us go out to drink, so needless to say the restroom being available at a timely manner is a big plus! Unfortunately this location does not have this bonus and could definitely use another stall or 2 cause let's just say it caused some minor problems and that's why I am giving a shout out to the officers! Let me not forget the manager. I apologize for not getting her name but the way they looked out for me & my group was ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE. It's definitely a fun place! I wouldn't recommend you take your kids after 10 on a Saturday lol. I'll definitely be going back!

Great place to watch a game, listen to live music, food and drinks are incredible specially the prices Plus they carry my favorite tequila La Santa

The house margarita is a bit too sweet (for me) and light on the alcohol, but it's so big, I got a bit of a buzz anyway.
    Leah H.

If they would just turn down the music, I would add a star, but it's so loud I actually worry for my hearing, and it takes away from the overall experience. We sat outside (because of the loud music), and the food was solid TexMex, which I love. The house margarita was huge, if a little sweet, but decent. The service was great. Overall, sitting outside away from the loud music, it was an enjoyable experience. If you're looking for good TexMex, this is a good choice. Save your hearing, though, and sit outside.

    Chicken burrito,rice , and beans.

Very loud music this was even at lunchtime. The service was great. The food was ok. I only ate off the lunch menu. The rice was ok and the beans are salty.

    Nancy P.

My experience: The food was okay, the drinks were good, the service sucked (took the servers an hour to get our order for drinks and food and about 35 minutes to get our food). The ambiance on Karaoke night sucked. The DJ cranked that shit up like we were in a fkn concert but in a small room. The singing would have been nice but the music alone was way too much. It was not a pleasant experience at all. Don't get me wrong I like loud music but what I don't like is my eardrums exploding.

    Shrimp, mussels and octopussy!!

For drinks, my husband and our friends tried some of the margaritas from their large and unique margaritas menu, as well as their hibiscus agua fresca. All of the drinks were very pretty and it seemed like everyone enjoyed them, too! We started with their chips and salsa trio, which we all really liked. The chips were on the thicker side, but were crispy and not stale or chewy at all. Each of the salsas were quite different, and two were served warm, which we really liked! For the price, I'd consider getting the chips and salsa as a non-negotiable, honestly. For entrees, we tried the enchilada rojas, chilaquiles verde w/ chicken and beef, birria barbacoa ramen, and huaraches. My husband felt like his ramen could have included more meat, but aside from that everyone really enjoyed what they ordered. The highlight was probably the desserts, though! We got a quatro leches and two ordered of their giant and amazing churros. Both were incredibly tasty and reason enough to return for another visit in the future!

The "queso" w/carne seemed to be out of a can-it was orange & didn't have the consistency of real cheese- wasn't really cheese & was disgusting. It was $9.99. I am including a photo of the overcooked beef fajita. A senior citizen can get the all beef lunch fajita special for virtually the same price as the fajita combo here ALL DAY at Pappasitos. It definitely is enough for 2. The meat melts in your mouth. EVERYTHING is better quality than here. Teo charged $1.50 for perhaps 4 or 5 slices of lime to make the happy hour margaritas made with a gross mix drinkable. That's outrageous. It reminds me that I had stopped going long ago when they charged extra for onions on enchiladas. Come on. You don't charge extra for chopped onions! I have never been to another restaurant that does so. Some even provide carmelized grilled onions gratis. I'm convinced that a $15. YUMMY mango margarita at Pappasitos would have given us the same buzz & tasted better than 8 happy hour margaritas here. I used to love the in house made flour tortillas at Teo. Tonight they were tough & uneventful. We arrived on a week night when they were not busy. Neither of the salsas were as good as they used to be.The water pitcher didn't even have ice when they refilled the water. I have absolutely no desire to return. Why would I?

The restaurant has an intimate indoor space and adjacent covered patio. Both were already full when we arrived which created a lively atmosphere. The inside was so tasteful - small but moody and warm! I'd definitely recommend a reservation for the weekends! We started with the aguachile de camaron as a starter and WOW my husband cannot stop talking about this dish. The perfect blend of textures and flavors - this will be a must for us every visit. We have had our eyes on the 5-course Chef Tasting Menu for $49 + the optional beverage pairing for $30. The experience felt more than fair for the price, especially by Houston standards. Each course felt thoughtful and slightly boundary-pushing, yet really approachable. My partner and I have been on a bit of a mole kick recently, so were very excited for the hanger steak with truffle mole. It absolutely delivered and would love to order this again! We were also heavily drawn to the tuna tartare starter, masa cornbread, and tres leches. The wine and drink parings were perfect and not too fruity. The brut rose was a perfect way to start and I always love a mezcal cocktail. I highly recommend anyone visiting to start with this Tasting Menu and leave the stress in the hands of Chef Adrian Torres! We had the pleasure of chatting with him briefly after our meal and were so impressed with his story and clear excitement he brings. The rest of the staff were equally kind and really added to the evening! Side note: We had the pleasure to attend Maximo's Cinco de Mayo block party and were so impressed by the community involvement bringing in local vendors and live music. It's definitely a smaller, cute neighborhood spot with a really fun vibe. The service was good. Our server was funny, attentive, and made the experience fun. We started with the "corn ribs" appetizer and WOW. Probably one of my favorite corn dishes I've had in a long time. So flavorful and addictive. We also got the "Tiradito de Hamachi" crudo, which was fresh and delicious! For the entree, my friend and I shared the tacos (which comes with your choice of 3). We added an extra taco to make it 4. I was genuinely shocked that the mushroom taco ended up being my favorite because I almost always prefer meat, but it was THAT good. The fried shrimp taco was also amazing. For dessert, we got the tres leches cake. I'm usually not a huge fan of strawberry or fruit toppings on desserts, but the cake itself was really, really good. I ended up just removing the strawberries and eating the cake, which was moist and flavorful. The only downside for me was the drinks. They looked larger than they actually were because of the glassware, and they tasted a little watered down. I had two, and they just weren't very strong or super flavorful. Other than that though, the food and service absolutely made up for it. Definitely a spot I'd come back to!

I prefer traditional homemade Mexican food but here we are. (Oh I googled and suggested this place lol) Went in for a team lunch on a Friday. Coworker's birthday lunch and she wanted Mexican. Party of 9 and we were seated promptly. They have a lunch menu and a happy hour as well as a full menu and full bar. The interior was nicely decorated. And open. There is bar seating and patio seating as well. Our waitress was Aisha and she was amazing. Friendly, helpful and patient. And able handle our large group and a few more tables with a smile. There were a variety of options. Salads, fajitas, nachos, enchiladas, etc. Also complimentary chips and salsa. My Order: chicken tortilla soup, lunch fajitas combo - chicken and beef. Chicken tortilla soup (3.5/5) - it was a bit salty for me but I am not a salt person so most things are salty to me; everyone else said it was tasty, there were tons of shredded chicken, avocado pieces, tortilla strips Fajitas - combo (4/5) - chicken was seasoned well and the beef (medium rare) was perfection and so tender and juicy, mexican rice was fluffy, and normally I would pass on the beans and get extra rice but my coworker suggested the charro beans and wow, that was a win - the seasoning was great, there were chunks of meat and the texture was nice, the only thing that could have been done better is the flour tortillas - they over-charred them making them too crispy and left them with a burnt taste. A couple of people got the elote salad and raved about it. So that will be a next time try. Def will be back. Everyone enjoyed their meals and some even ordered food to go. Would recommend.
