The service was not very well in attendance. The restaurant was barren, there were no other people, yet, all of the wait staff was belly up at the bar having their own drinks and conversation so I would write a deficit in that category. The food was four out of 10, not anything to write home about. I had a margarita that was probably a six out of 10. We were there around 6 PM so the place should've been hopping, it was not. Amazing! Ordered the pechuga tampiquena and boy were we surprised! Chicken was tender, flavorful and the enchilada was a chicken and cheese enchilada. Very delish! Rice didn't seem water logged and beans were very pungent with flavor and sausage chunks. Tortillas were served mixed as requested. Those were just ok, not the best tortillas. At a club alright, but at a restaurant, unacceptable. This seems to be a complaint folks have and nothing has changed. My server couldn't understand me. Decided to try a new place after running an errand. After having a miserable experience at another Mexican restaurant recently, I was apprehensive about trying another small Mexican place. The restaurant was a nice looking place, but I'm not sure what it is about mom and pop Mexican restaurants that has them blasting the music as loud as a night club on a Friday night. The place was loud. It was difficult to have a conversation. This time around, I was gonna go for something simple when it came to food. A plate of beef enchiladas is my usual go to when trying new Mexican places. My thinking is that it's a pretty difficult thing to screw up. My wife ordered some tacos with a cheese sauce. I can't exactly remember the name of them. The waitress asked me if I wanted green or red sauce on my enchiladas. She was very friendly and had a smile the whole time. Food was served and my enchiladas were served with green sauce. I told the waitress that I wanted red sauce and she took my plate to get corrected. During this time, I can see my wife making faces while eating her food. I asked her what was wrong and she said the food was pretty terrible. My wife is not as picky an eater as I am so if she's making faces, that's not good. She said the meat was rubbery and the cheese was more like water. She also mentioned the rice not being very tasty. Being the soldier she is, she still tried getting through most of it before giving up. My enchiladas arrive and i quickly find the same is true for me. These beef enchiladas were rubbery beef chunks with an odd taste. Not ground beef like most beef enchiladas. The sauce was strong like a hot sauce. The rice was just nasty. I don't have a better description for it. I did my best to try to get through the plate but I couldn't even finish one whole enchilada. When the waitress came back to check on us, I asked for the bill. She asked if we needed a to go box and we both quickly shook our head that we did not. The manager came to our table to ask us how our experience was while holding our check. I explained to him that the food was just not good. It was as simple as that. He handed me the bill and had removed the enchiladas. I told him I was not trying to get over on them and was willing to pay for my meals. I know there are people out there who are looking for any excuse to get away with a free meal when dining out and I am very adamant about making sure I'm not confused with one or them. In the end we didn't pay for the enchiladas and as soon as we were out I drove next door to the Wendy's drive thru. I was starving. I didn't want to completely dismiss this place by giving it a one star review here. I found the waitress to be friendly and the customer service, in my personal opinion, was pretty stellar. First off I would like to warn some folks the music is loud they have ppl playing loud music so if that's not your thing maybe this place isn't for you..... the food there is always amazing.... I love ceviche so this is one of my go to spots and the meals are always really good if you are ordering the top is the line stuff.... Maybe the generic burritos and tex Mex is your average meal that you get at most other places but I don't eat much tex Mex so I never get it but you get the fajita plates or oysters or other seafoods the food hands down is awesome.... The food, the service, the ambiance all were 10/10! The only small inconvenience for me is the restroom wait as there is only 2 stalls and a lot of us go out to drink, so needless to say the restroom being available at a timely manner is a big plus! Unfortunately this location does not have this bonus and could definitely use another stall or 2 cause let's just say it caused some minor problems and that's why I am giving a shout out to the officers! We were a party of 16 which included 3 children, a Friend recommended my Husband this restaurant since we were in town for the weekend. Unfortunately this restaurant was super load, we could not talk, it's not a suitable for children. When ordering my Margarita had little to no alcohol keep in mind it was $15.99 then we wanted a boil the waitress stated it was 24.99 a pound then came back and said it was 74.99 a pound. The worst experience of my life. The wait staff was very rude. And the person in charge was very very very Rude. I was over charge for my meal. I brought it to the waitress attention and she ask the person in charge for help. The person in charge came to my table and tried to make me pay extra and I told her that I am only paying the correct amount. because I was over charged and the person in charge got angry and raised her voice. So I ask for her name. She would not tell me her name so I got up to ask all the staff that was on duty no one would give me her name. so I took out my phone trying to record the situation and she attacked me she snatch the phone out of my hand. Thats a dirty rotten thing to do to a customer, especially since he never explained that when I placed the order. ****As a small business owner I understand how important reviews are. We had a group come in and we were having a fine time until the music began. It was SO LOUD (PERCUSSION and TUBAS) that we could not even speak to our party. I spoke with the manager and she said that there was nothing that she could do and that this volume was a normal thing for a Thursday through Sunday. There was also "nothing they could do" to accommodate our table. All members of our table just got our checks, to go bags, and left our margaritas and beers because we could not get out of there fast enough. Caught our waiter smoking weed in the bathroom but didn't really bat an eye, until he decided to throw a fit just because we asked to do a split check with two cards. Well this is for sure a tough review to write. My son had been here earlier this month and said it was fantastic, and brought us here on Saturday night. We got there at 6pm, and everything was going beautifully. Service was good and the food was really good. Very nice selection of traditional Mexican fare, and then the added bonus of various seafood offerings. I love seafood, so i was thrilled. Then came 7pm. Apparently at 7pm or therabouts, they start a live band with live music. This is not a huge restaurant, and when you have a full band playing real time, all chance of enjoying the rest of your meal is gone. Don't believe me? As soon as the second song started and we realized this was how it was going to continue, I asked for our check. The server brought me another beer. OK, I drank that and ate a few more bites of my food, thinking the check was still forthcoming. I asked again for the check, and this time I got a second shot of tequila. At this point its now laughable, and my son enjoyed my second tequila shot. We did finally get our check, but it cost us way more than we intended, as well as the annoyance. Not to mention we did not even get the box I requested to take the remainder of my food home. I think we would go back again, perhaps on a different date or maybe a different time, but I would definitely first check the possibility of live music first. read more
