I don't know if El Chalan is the oldest Peruvian restaurant in Miami, but it likely is among the oldest, been around since 1985. Way before Peruvian restaurants become as numerous as Chinese restaurants or McD's in Miami. The restaurant manages to be pretty good with the upkeep of the the place. The food is good, though hardly the best with so much competition around. One time we had the tallarines verdes with chicken and the meat was totally dry. I like their Aguadito Mixto, a seafood soup for cilantro lovers. I always order their chicha morada, which is more flavorful than at other Peruvian restaurants,

I recently visited El Chalan Restaurant, and I can absolutely see why it's my sister's favorite place to eat! The Peruvian food here is outstanding. I had the Tri Color Fish Ceviche, and we shared the Seafood Fried Rice. My niece ordered the Lomo Saltado, and my dad, cousin, and sister shared two orders of the Jalea de Pescado. Every single dish was delicious and incredibly fresh. The portion sizes were great, and the price was very reasonable--everything came out to around $140 for all of us. Though the place is small, the atmosphere was cozy, and the service was excellent. Our waitress was attentive, made sure we had everything we needed, and frequently refilled our waters. I highly recommend this place if you're looking for amazing Peruvian food and great service!

Food was hot and fresh but the jalea pretty much had calamari, not too much of a "mix" as its supposed to be. Service was great though. The down side of this place its that it's very small and it doesn't sell cocktails, just beers and sangrias.

Got the pescado el macho (grilled not fried) and it was delicious! Peruvian food is served this was a great first time visit on a busy Sunday afternoon

I like this place! I I like the fried seafood! The service here is also good. I also tried the dessert.

It's nothing fancy but the staff are always friendly and the Peruvian food is great! The ceviche is fresh and has so much flavor. The fried red snapper fish is well seasoned and the presentation is great when they serve it. Sometimes the best places are simple!

Nothing like enjoying my bday weekend with friends at my fave live jazz bar in this area of Miami!…read moreWe called in on Saturday night and got a nice comfy half booth in the live music room right away. The room is so cool, staff is relaxed, cool and inviting. Tonight Ollie is onstage playing guitar, singing and taking all our favorite requests! We all sing along and have a great night of good food, good music, good drinks and great company of other live music enthusiasts! They have a fresh fish case stocked with great stuff including stone crab--The food is terrific! From my favorite raw bar starters, fish soup, sushi, whole fish, protein bowls, steak/chicken, kids choices, and the like. Menu is huge, something for everyone. The complimentary starter is fish dip and saltines. It Definitely sets the fish house mood! I love the decor--so jazzy, so mardi gras, so eclectic kitsch. It's just a relaxed fun time right on Miller Drive. Feels almost like a speakeasy! Aahhh, Miami--so chock full of these little unsung spots that you must be a local to know the secrets! All the fun is inside here. Check it out, it's all good at the Fish House. Thanks for following me, happy 2026! ~Tami in Miami

Nice and rustic ambiance, definitely seafood related decor. Welcomed to the table with crackers and seafood dip. I could eat a tub of the dip! Ordered two Margaritas for $6 each which were excellent in regular good size mug. Service was very good team effort. Appetizer was conch fritters, rather small, but tasty with dipping sauce. Lobster bisque on point, can eat a 5 gallon bucket of this easily. My wife had the fried shrimp with parsley potatoes. Tasty and enjoyable. I had the shrimp linguini covered in Parmesan sauce. Ate every bit of it even though I should of taken half home. Definitely recommend going for Happy Hour and save half the cost of dinner menu. Almost forgot Cuban Mojito to finish off the meal. Overall, just as good as the first time we came years ago. Go get yourself some !!!

When I heard La Pata Gorda was coming from Ecuador to Coral Gables, I knew I had to try it. I definitely went a little crazy ordering, but every bite made it worth it. First up were the grilled conchas (grilled oysters) and WOW! These were the star of the night. The flavor was so unique and absolutely incredible. Next was the shrimp ceviche, which was different from the lighter versions I usually have since this one had more of an orange colored sauce, but the flavor was still very much there, super good!
