First time coming to this location & Ashley greeted us with the most positive & welcoming vibes I was actually stunned and caught myself walking to the table with a smile on my face by how friendly she was. Then it continued when Julie's beautiful face greeted us at the table and she radiated that same energy throughout the entire service. We've been excited to try this place so we ordered food to-go tonight and it wasn't the greatest. Our food was cold and they forgot to put guacamole with our order. I had the carne guisada plate and it was alright. We ordered a side of rice to share and the container was hardly filled. We will definitely try it out in person which will hopefully be better but wouldn't recommend getting it to-go. read more

Food was great as the original location but they did not include the bean soup with the meal like the original. Service was way less than stellar but it has not been open very long. Just moved to boerne and found this restaurant. First time I ordered the cheese enchiladas. Corn was still a bit undercooked. Was a little hard to cut with fork. I left it to a fluke. We are not from San Antonio or Texas and have lived here for 4 years. We've struggled to find high quality restaurants. Locals said great things so we decided to give El Chaparral a try. The food was salty and flavorless. We all ended up eating just a few bites it was so bad. $75 later for some of the worst Mexican food we've ever had. We came with our El Jarrito Jugs to be filled with our favorite margarita only to be told that we can no longer use them in the restaurant as of two weeks ago. No explanation was given as to why they won't use them anymore. We ordered the Volcano Nachos. They didn't even look like the picture on the menu. We asked for additional sour cream which of course cost us a $1 more. They were good, but not at all what we expected of what the menu described them to be. Whatever queso was on them was watered down. We were both very disappointed. We love El Chapparal. I don't know if the Biden economics are impacting them in a negative way, but it sure seems like it. I'm told that El Chaparral previously had a location in Boerne but closed. Suffice it to say they are back with a vengeance! They are apparently expecting the support of the entire community this time around with massive parking and dining facilities. It's a beautiful location with a great atmosphere, but I can't imagine this place covering the overhead. With the exception of the chips which must have been prepared in-house and were not done, (you now, when they have a slight chewiness rather than crispness?) the food was outstanding. The service was spot on. Everyone worked as a team and were very cordial. read more

I'll start with the location. Huge restaurant with GREAT outdoor patio area - Live music, fans/misters to help with the Texas heat and an outdoor play area for kids! Our server was very friendly and as attentive as she could be. Felt like they were short staffed bc things took a while, but the atmosphere kept us happy. Chips and queso to start - I prefer the thin tortilla chips and these weren't, which is fine. However, the chips seemed over cooked and the queso was average. My cheese enchiladas were under the heat too long as the tortillas/cheese on top were over cooked. My wife's chili rellano was good but nothing to write home about. Also our water tasted like it was from the well - not that big of a deal but it didn't taste fresh. My kids enjoyed their chicken quesadilla and there was a good amount of meat in it, which was nice! My dads chalupas we're good and the toppings were nice and fresh. Overall, the food wouldn't bring me back but the outdoor patio atmosphere may. read more

Food was bland a tasteless and overpriced. However, our service was good and we loved the atmosphere. I'm only leaving this review hoping management can improve the quality of the food. If they do, this restaurant could be a real hit and we would come back. My wife ordered enchiladas and the sauce seemed to be made with mostly flour gravy and very little chili at all, making them very bland. I ordered Erin's paradilla and the meat was overcooked and flavorless as if hardly any seasoning was used. The best part of the meal was honestly the chips and salsa and the small bowl of bean soup we got before ordering. This place has potential, but food quality definitely needs improvement. read more

Service was good, the food was cold as if it came out of the fridge, probably because the environment temperature was very cold! So cold people were leaving, I am from cold country and was shivering. I don't get it restaurants are crying about high cost but yet they run their room temperature at such a degree it has to be very expensive then the customer pays more for food, I don't recommend going here without a blanket or jacket, BTW: my breakfast was cod and scimpy Mc Donald's has better value for price / food ratio. read more

I've tried this place three times to give them the benefit of the doubt since the first two times, the food was not bad however, the service left to be desired. Last night was the straw that broke the camels back. When one of the members of my party mentioned to the waitress that the table was uneven and wobbling, the waitress came back and said that the manager said "they can fix it "but the waitress decided to place some napkins underneath to balance the table anyway. That was a bit shocking, but we let it go. My waitress then asks my eight-year-old grandson, after he ordered the salad Esmeralda that comes with shrimp if he wanted "meat" in the salad. Confused my grandson said no. She later comes with a salad and no shrimp and when my grandson asked where the shrimp was, she scolded him in a stern voice and said I asked you if you wanted meat and you said no. At that point I had had enough and explained to the waitress that the shrimp comes with the salad and that the term meat implies beef. She was still defiant and decided to argue with me and say that, she meant a protein and at that point I showed her on my phone that shrimp is a shellfish not a meat. I explained to her that we were quite shocked at her behavior and her managers and that I would not tolerate it any further. she immediately apologized explained that she had a bad day and ended up with her tail between her legs. I have never experienced such a horrible waitress and manager. While I was in disbelief, I came to learn that I am not the first that has dealt with these employees. I have made an effort to contact the owner, but he has not returned any of my calls. Needless to say, I will never return to this restaurant nor the others affiliated with them. read more

Boerne Location: Since it was the 4th of July, we decided to call ahead to see if they were open. The girl who answered the phone said they were open until 9:00. We left the house and got there in about 15 minutes (a little before 8:00 pm). When we arrived, a young guy who worked there came running outside and rudely said "you might as well leave because we are closed". We went inside to the hostess area and about 5 others chanted they were closed. I told them we had just called. They then demanded to see my outgoing call to them on my cell phone. I showed them and they still said they were closed, even though there were a lot of people in the dining area. These people were border line hostile. My husband was fuming, so we left and went to Las Guitarras. We were treated exceptionally well. The owner and manager checked on us consistently. The food was also delicious. The manager at El Chapparral Boerne needs to have a serious meeting with his/her employees and teach them basic manors! read more
