We saw this restaurant on Day Tripper (YouTube)and wanted to try it. I'm not sure how busy this place is on a regular Saturday but we came for our first time the day before Mother's Day. It was packed but they still had the food out fast! We started with the Queso Chorizo. It's was a tasty start to our meal. I had the fish tacos and my wife had the chicken tacos. They were good, nothing over the top but good for sure. The waiter was quick and helped make our dinner a nice experience.

Not many vegan options. My family said it was a bit overpriced for the overall quality of their dishes. My bf was still hungry after eating his tacos. Packed on Fridays and weekend, be prepared for a line or reserve a table in advance. Nice decorations. Kid friendly, there was a spacious playground outside. Mariachis arrived around 6pm. They play your table a song if you tip them.

Third time here and once again, food and service were great. Celebrated a birthday dinner today and everyone had a fabulous time. Their desserts are also a must try. Highly recommend trying this place.

We came as a big group hungry after a gorgeous am of zip lining in Helotes. Cool decor throughout and large space to hold many parties. Unfortunately, I haven't been too impressed with the meals I have ordered recently. I ordered a ground beef taco salad a few months ago, which was ended up being too salty. This trip, I ordered a frozen non alcoholic mango margarita and the two step dish from the lighter side menu. Non alcoholic frozen mango margarita- weird consistency- thick and syrupy. Hard to even sip through a straw. I had to return to server and just decided to drink water. Two step- I have had many puffy tacos and this one was not the puffy consistency I thought it would be. Normally puffy is light, this taco was thick and had a heavier texture like a cake. I left most of it on the plate. The enchilada was just ok- drenched in too much cheese- I just ate the inside and it was very salty. Sigh... Service was slow Military discount offered

Always a good choice best if you have it at restaurant. But this is the only place I will order chalupas from to be delivered as they stay crispy. Enchiladas are the only one I will eat unless I make them.

What an awesome place! Don't let the packed parking lot fool you. Come on in for a wonderful Mexican meal surrounded by bright authentic Mexican decor. The food and service were awesome! There is something on the menu for everyone. Although the bar area is quite small, you can order a drink while you wait for a text that your table is ready. They seat you pretty quickly even on busy nights. El Chaparral also boasts a pan dulce counter as well so you can take some sweets home. I appreciate the Mariachi's going around asking for requests. Their presence definitely adds to the ambiance. I loved the garden/jardin dedication to Jessica as well as reading the family's story. Helotes is a special place and local businesses like El Chaparral are keeping it that way. Honoring traditions of food, love and music the true Tex-Mex way! Órale chicos!

We booked a 1:30 reservation about 10 days in advance. My in-laws arrived around 1:15 and we got there shortly before our reservation time, but we still didn't get seated until around 1:45. To be fair, it was Mother's Day and the restaurant was busy, although there were a few empty tables while we waited. One thing they absolutely got right was the remodel. The old space used to feel dark and cramped, but the updated interior feels much more open, modern, and inviting. Our waitress was also excellent throughout the meal--attentive, kind, and clearly doing her best to keep up with a packed dining room. Unfortunately, that's where most of the positives ended for us. The chips were thicker than usual but still good, and while the salsa had decent flavor, it had almost no heat at all. We also ordered guacamole without onions, but it came across very bland and could've used more lime, seasoning, and some jalapeño to brighten it up. My wife did enjoy her strawberry margarita, which was both flavorful and noticeably strong. I ordered the mole enchiladas and found the mole sauce surprisingly flat and lacking depth. Other dishes around the table were described as just okay overall, although the kids were very happy with the thick, fluffy pancakes. The biggest issue was timing. We didn't receive our entrees until almost 3:00 PM, which made for a very long wait, especially with kids at the table. To the restaurant's credit, they brought out two slices of cake to apologize even though we never complained. Overall, we left pretty underwhelmed, especially considering the occasion. The excellent table-side service couldn't fully make up for the slow kitchen and uneven food quality. I'd be willing to give them another try on a less hectic day, but this visit didn't quite live up to expectations.

You can't find it on Yelp under the new name, which is frustrating as this place is NOTHING like it was. Even your credit card statement will still say House of Flavor. The menu is now a mariscos style seafood menu. My son and I were thrilled when we saw the change and the first time we went, we both loved it. He had a whole fish of some kind, and I had a cocktail of mixed seafood like shrimp, crab, and octopus. It was fresh, spicy, and flavorful. Today, we went back. This time my son got the seafood cocktail that I had the first time. Sorry I don't know the names, but the only menu I could find on line was a photo that was way too small to read. Anyway, he liked it and said it was the same as when I had it. I made a bad bad bad choice. I just wasn't feeling seafood to I ordered the enchiladas asadas. I mean come on... This is a MEXICAN restaurant in SAN ANTONIO. Never in my wildest dreams did I expect to be served the absolute WORST Mexican plate I have ever had. Those of you who read my reviews know that I rate a Mexican restaurant on their tortillas, rice, and beans. If those are good, the rest of the plate is usually okay at least. Let me break this meal down for you. Refried Beans- I have honestly had better out of a can. Rice- This was brought to me about 15 minutes after the rest of the food. It was plain white rice that was cooked to a mushy consistency. I tasted it to see what it was like with no plan of eating it. I had already given up on eating at all. But back to the tortillas- There were none served. Now let me do my best to describe the enchiladas. They were small corn tortillas with about a spoon full of meat inside and folded like tacos. There was a thick red sauce all over them. It did not taste like any kind of enchilada sauce I have ever had. It was sweet and left a foul aftertaste in my mouth. There was a white cheese on top that I can only describe as slimy. Yes... I said slimy. The enchiladas were flooded with that awful sauce and had turned to mush. Our server was very nice and helpful. The iced tea was very good. The venue was nice and clean. Will I be back? Yes, at least one more time once I have had sufficient time to get today's horrible food out of my head. But, you can bet your sweet behind that I won't go near anything but the seafood on the menu.

They offer lunch specials every day, along with complimentary chips and salsa to start. The staff was attentive and quick, ensuring great service.
