Chips and salsa. The chips were perfect and flimsy and not over salted. Salsa was just right.

Mary Lou's cafe impressed me today, June 2026. First time to go there and I have been living in SA for 18 years. The food was good I have to admit. I like the atmosphere with the music playing. Our waiter came around all the time offering us drinks, salsa and chips. I can see myself coming back again now that I know it's this good.

Tortillas? Amazing! They were huge flour tortillas and puffy and so soft and good. The choriqueso was good as well. The enchiladas verdes were typical and good. My boyfriend loved the chicharrón with egg tacos, it was the crispy chicharrón too! The asas was not his favorite and something he probably wouldn't order again. Our server was kind! The restaurant itself had a good ambience and was nice and fresh inside and clean. We were helped right away and although it looked packed, we were seated right away!

Although a bit loud it was a good atmosphere. Salsa was great with the chips. I had chorizo and egg plate with refried rice and beans. Large portions!! Chorizo had good flavor but a bit in spicy.

Service was awesome very attentive and extremely quick our food only took about 8-10 minutes max to come out. Ambiance was nice and calm on a Saturday morning. Their cheese enchiladas were awesome and my grandpa really liked the chicken taquitos as well. Breakfast potatoes were amazing as well.

Today's breakfast spot was Mary Lou's Cafe. The menudo was super tasty and clean. The barbacoa taco was full of flavor and not greasy at all. Come visit Moses and his staff for some of the best service. Ask for Carlos he is the best go to waiter here in my opinion

    Mary Lou's plate!

Was headed to a different Mexican restaurant on Friday evening and stumbled on this place on accident so we decided to try it and it turned out to be outstanding. I ordered the Mary Lou's plate and it was well worth it! We decided to go back Sunday for breakfast and the carne guisada was delicious!

The food was excellent. The Carne guisada taco was the best that I have had. It was so soft, tasty and flavorful. The guacamole taco was very good fresh guacamole, and lots of it. I love the coffee, it was strong. The service could've been better. It was Saturday around 11 AM and they were pretty busy. The restaurants was very clean. The restrooms needed attention. I am giving the food five stars overall I'm giving them 3.5 stars. Because overall 14.95 for two tacos and coffee, I expect better service and clean restrooms.

Gorgeous day to eat outside on the patio even though it's a little chilly. There was a big breakfast crowd but they sat us quickly and our order came out quickly. Loved the food.

Great little local joint. Can get super crowded for breakfast on weekend. The choriqueso is served with fresh tortillas. A good mix of melted cheeses and perfect chorizo that could almost be a meal by itself. I had the Carne Mexicana which is diced fajita meat served in sautéed Pico de Gallo. Very well flavored and just spicey enough. Definitely recommend the charro beans over the refried. Salsa is so-so and margaritas are good enough.

Piccadillo puffy tacos to go (the plate was heavy)

My husband & I ordered to go & the Piccadillo puffy tacos plate weighed about 7 lbs. they were pretty tasty.. the rice was not to my liking but the plate overall was good, we also ordered Lengua guisada & I must say I've never had anything like it, it was so tender & the flavor was on point, a little overpriced but the location says it all. Next time we'll dine in.

I decided to stay in the city longer to check out this place. This restaurant is huge and the wait was 45 minutes on a Sunday afternoon. We used our waiting time to stroll through the Mercado across the way. Once the table was ready, my friend got a text. I always wanted to try menudo every Mexican restaurant I go to. But not until I saw the sign on the back cover. This restaurant is under the same owner as Pico de Gallo. Omg. I just had their menudo the day before. No thanks. I decided to order fajita chicken salad. The portion was really small. The food only filled a half of the fried salad bowl. I asked to put cheese on the side. It may had it look more but I don't eat cheese as much. I was glad that dressing was on the side. Which was too salty for me. So, if the food was the same as other chain, we could have eaten there which was closer to the hotel. But I noticed the difference was the servers. Our waitress was cuter and very polite. My friends kept teasing her. She kept good manner and responded back with a smile "uhhh no". Hahaha.

The hostess was a little drab but as I was walked in to be seated, you could feel the upbeat mood. Note that if you're dining solo, they will push hard to seat you at a dark diner type counter to stare at the kitchen area even if you have a reservation, so don't give in unless you're starving and that's your last resort. The colorful decor hits you and you're transported. I ordered the "Mexican Dinner" with chicken enchilada, pork tamal, beef taco with beans and rice. Also had a side order of fresh handmade tortillas. Paloma to wash it all down. Everything tasted great. My server was excellent. Patient and helpful with recommendations. The mariachi band was fun and they roamed the restaurant and bar to play, so chances are that if they aren't singing at your table then they're nearby.

Cooked perfectly, seasoned well, and love the pickled onions and lime on the side. My husband ordered the old fashioned, which he liked. I got the mezcal spritz which was 10/10 (and huge). They ran out of cheesecake so they gave us tres leches as a substitute--as a huge tres leches fan, this was even better. Both desserts were outstanding. 10/10 will be back if visiting San Antonio again Service was also exceptional--ask for Theresa!! Love the setting, definitely sit outside if you can! The biggest issue which is concerning is all of the birds flying from table to table and through the outside area during breakfast/brunch time of day. The staff does everything they can but it's impossible to keep birds away being outside. Leads to some concerns about the sanitation & cleanliness while birds are hanging out on half the empty tables and chairs. We could have moved inside and probably would if we visit again. The food was delicious and it is still a great place to try as long as your good with birds. My sister who joined us was a little leery of their presence the entire time.

There's such a wonderful selection, and everything we tried was absolutely delicious. As parents with notoriously picky eaters, we especially appreciate how accommodating the staff is - it's such a relief to know that our kids can also find something yummy with just a quick chat with the staff member. That really makes a difference for a family outing! And oh my goodness, the appetizers are simply fantastic. We couldn't get enough! I also have to give a special shout-out to the Carrajillo I ordered. It was such a delightful surprise - perfectly balanced, not overly sweet, with a lovely citrusy kick that made it incredibly refreshing. Definitely a new favorite drink! We're already looking forward to our next visit to explore more of amazing menu. Just a little heads-up for anyone else, we realized on our way out that there's an extra parking lot right across the street if the main one fills up. Super handy to know!

It was delicious! The concha was soft, buttery and flaky, with just the right sweetness. We took home the majority of it and it stayed nice and soft instead of turning hard like so many others. We decided to try several appetizers to go along with our concha to get a wider taste of their food than we would by just ordering a couple entrees. Let me tell you, this was a great idea! We ordered the Tosti-Ceviche Verde, Panela Asado, Mexican Street Corn, and their Spicy Bean Dip. The Ceviche Verde was excellent, the freshness of the fish and shrimp was wonderful with the chipotle mayo and avocado. We chose to have it on the salsa Verde Tostitos and it was all great combination. The Panelo Asado was a completely new dish for us and was extremely good with a savory flavor from the salsa Tlaquepaque that mixed well with the Panela cheese. Their tortillas though not made in house, are made for them and taste like mom made them. The Mexican Street Corn was great and had the perfect bit of char taste from the corn. It was creamy and flavorful, we did think it could use just a tad more lime juice though. The Spicy Bean Dip was very good. You can't go wrong with Oaxaca, Chorizo, and pieces of pork mixed with some mildly spicy beans. Our server was fantastic. She had great recommendations for us, and was quick with checking on our drinks and generally helping us throughout our dinner. The food was prepared quickly, was hot, tasteful and refreshing. We definitely will be going back, and recommend Pan Fila to all of you.
