We stopped by El Charrito Market while visiting Gilroy, and we're so glad we did. I ordered the pambazo, and it was absolutely delicious. The flavor of the chile they used to dip the bolillo was very flavorful. It was one of the best pambazos I've had. My wife ordered the tlayuda, and she loved it as well. Everything tasted fresh. On top of the great food, the service was awesome. Everyone was friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even better. We're from Orange County, but we'll definitely make El Charrito Market a regular stop whenever we're passing through Gilroy on future road trips. Menudo, to flautas to southern Mexico cuisine is what allows you to taste Mexico in 1 sitting! Pozole for fiestas, Oaxacan delights to fresh made tortillas with frijoles and you can purchase some nice "crunchy" exotic items that bring it all together! But get this, they brought out 3 potato tacos and told me they're bringing me the two bean ones since they mixed up the order. So I got 5 tacos!! The tacos were SO good! Love this cute Mexican market. I only say cute because it has a nice variety of things. Its half market half resturaunt and the food is prepared fresh. I tried the chicken soup here for my first visit and absolutely loved it! Its soo good and it costs under $15! what's really nice is I can also order on Door Dash. I used to love this place, this is where I came to get masa to make Tamales but the couple of times I have been there it's just rude service . The masa that is prepared went down greatly in quality. Sometimes they used way to much Manteca where is just dripping out of the bag it looks like they just dumped a bucket of masa on it. Other times is way too salty where the masa becomes not good for consumption. Is sad to see this place go down like this read more

This place is one of Gilroy hidden treasures of Mexico. They transport you as you come in with the authentic music and friendly greeting. Then it divides into two aisles:1 to market to get fresh meat and vegetables plus other essentials. Then 2 takes to the flavored of Mexico by showing you a menu that is full of delicious and authentic taste of many regions from Mexico. As far north to the south, it's hard to decide what or which to choose. OMG.they even have sautéed grasshopper with garlic yummm ! The taste of all of what I ordered which was Birria taco with a bowl of its own soup plus a picadita w/o meat, a Hand Made Tortilla freshly made!! I went over board and couldn't stop myself. Poor hygiene! But the food was tasty, despite our order being wrong. It was our first visit today. There was a gentleman who was working on the market side, but also came to the restaurant side and was seen wearing the same pair of gloves without washing or changing them in between serving customers. I saw him go from the meat section, putting on his jacket and taking it off, helping at the cash register and serving coffee and food without changing his gloves. I was watching like a hawk to make sure that he didn't touch our food because otherwise I would have complained. I'm coming to Yelp in hopes that the owner will see this and enforce proper hygiene and use of gloves. In that case my family and I would consider returning. Gloves are not for the users protection and actually prevent good hand hygiene and promote the spread of bacteria and infection if used improperly. Please educate your staff!! read more

I've only been here for their breakfast burritos. We usually get their chorizo. They're really tasty & filling. I'd recommend calling ahead as the wait is always longer than most places. I get them to go. I don't know why I've never gone in the afternoon for their other stuff but I guess someday I will. Can't go wrong though with the breakfast burritos.
