Let me start by saying, there aren't a lot of places I would drive 5 hours for...let alone, somewhere for a Mexican food. However, today...the Mexican food fan in me was reborn. The food, flavor, portions, service and price...when combined together are arguably the best Mexican restaurant experience I've had, hands down! Hands down, the best salsa I have ever had. I like my salsa chunky by the way. My man had the chili verde, asked for it to be spicy, and said it was the best he has ever had, and he is a chili verde snob! Prices were ok, portions were big so it makes up for the price. It's my first visit to this place and what a find! Whenever I'm traveling I always Yelp for help and once again I was stirred to the right place. My wife and I had the carne asada plate and was HUGE so we split it. Cooked just right, tasty, good rice and beans, charbroiled onion and best of all home made corn tortillas! Yummy. The kids had an enchilada and tamale plates and cleaned them off also. I think I've eaten in just about every Mexican restaurant in Jackson and Josephine county and this definitely is the winner, and the food is well priced. Check it out and you won't be disappointed. Road trip from California and stopped here with the kids. We were so happy we decided to stop!! The food tastes just like home!!

A perfect place for tired and dusty hikers coming from crater Lake on their way to Jed Smith redwood forest. The salsas were homemade and the beer mugs frosted. The portions are huge and the food is decent. My son ordered the pollo asado which could feed two easily. My tostada was large and good enough for one person. Great place. As good as any you would find in my old hometown of Dallas and ten times better anything you would find in My new hometown of Portland. read more

Tuesday night after Christmas so... I guess it's understandable. But the service was extremely slow, no one ever really checked up on me. I order a soup while I waited for my to go order. The To go order came before the soup. I waited 30 min for a tortilla soup. The restaurant seemed moderately slow in my eyes. By this time the food was whatever. Wife and I had first meal here we both tried a combo plate I had the enchilada and tamale wife had enchilada and Chile relleno we were both quite surprised as the food was very tasty and moist Not dry at all I ordered chicken enchilada but got the shredded beef it was very good and was better than the chicken enchilada that my wife had the chile relleno are very good as they use Pablano chile and do them right the rice and refried beans were also very good we requested some hotter salsa they brought out a very nice roasted Verde tomatillo salsa that was also excellent service was also very good we will be back oh yes we will. Nice folks, horrible food. Not sure what was worse: terrible atmosphere (lighting like a discount mattress store), persistent flies, or the terrible food. Burritos, enchiladas and tacos - all crap. Really, I am not angry, just surprised Mexican food could be so bad, and yet be so highly rated on yelp. I lived in Tucson, Az and in California for 25 years, eaten lots of Mexican food - this was the sort of stuff Denny's would serve - if they served Mexican food. The good was delicious and there was plenty of it. The service wAs good and attentive. The ambience left something to be desired. It was do hot in the restaurant we couldn't wait to get back in the car to the air conditioning. And the windows were really dirty. Yes, as good as it gets. Sadly, Grants Pass is not a Mexican food hotspot, but this place is GOOD! I spent my childhood in Southern Arizona, and I know how good (and how bad!) this cuisine can be. It is not about huge servings for me. I have tried a fair number of the other spots in town, none of them so far comes close to the quality of food here. Chile relleno is always a good test. We have eaten here on a few occasions while on vacation. I love the ceviche! This last visit of our group of 9 - 3 adults and 2 kids had the nachos and none of them enjoyed them... but everything else that we have had, has been very good. We came here because of the reviews posted here on yelp because we were passing through Grants Pass to Eugene. It was delicious with awesome service. Three out of four of us had the chili relleno dinner which was very good and extremely filling. The servers continuously asked how we were doing and offered us refills.
