"El Chef Tacos" is a mid-quality roadside taqueria on Beach Blvd in south-central Westminster, Orange County, California. I eat there often, as I live about 100 meters away. I've had mixed results eating there over the last 5 years. Sometimes the food is good, sometimes not. Sometimes the service is good, sometimes not. Some of the employees speak fluent English, some very little. I'll often cruise by and look in and see who is working there; if some of the more-competent crew are working there (especially the middle-aged Hispanic woman with dark hair in bangs on her forehead; she knows how to manage a kitchen), I'll drop in for supper; otherwise, I'll usually go elsewhere (such as Uncle Pete's Cafe two blocks north, or Rodrigos on Goldenwest & Bolsa). Foods El Chef typically does well at are tacos, nachos, and combination plates (carne asada, carnitas, al pastor, lengua, pollo). These are usually delicious. Foods they routinely cook badly include enchiladas (always drenched in nearly an entire cup of cold enchilada sauce, so they're always cold, soggy, and sour). The decor used to be nice (light colors, well-lit), but after they "remodeled" circa 2015, the decor has been horrible (ceiling painted black, walls blood red, lighting is dim, hard to see anything). So, my over-all grade for this place is "C" or "3 stars out of 5". If you're in the neighborhood and hungry for a quick bite of Mexican food, drop on by; but come early (6PM) as they usually close earlier than their posted closing times, and stay away from the enchiladas. read more

The court there has nothing but vending machines so I decided to try a few places nearby while serving on a jury and this was my favorite place The service was very friendly, and the food was great. I know parking can difficult. First time, and definitely not the last....boy oh boy.... Tacos were perfect.... I was craving some super fries after work, so I decided to to give this place a try. Customer service here isn't spectacular, and is somewhat rushed, but it is normal. The portions of the order is quite large. Personally, I found the carne asada to be lacking in flavour. I am also not a big fan of larger fries. The sauces, again, are too bland for my taste. If you wanted to open a taco restaurant, but didn't care, this would be the place you would own. There are stacks of catering equipment piled in the dining room along with miscellaneous junk. The ice machine is out and has no hope of ever being repaired. It gave up. Just like the flavor of the food served here. The food could best be described as 'okay' not excellent, not great, not good, just okay. Like, if you were drunk at 3:00 am you might think this food tastes good. The salsa bar is like a desert of flavor. The pico de gallo has no flavor at all, come on, some lime juice would help. I tried them all and the best of the bunch is the green sauce. First off the workers here are extremely slow. It took roughly 42 mins to make 5 street tacos, 1 burrito and 1 torta. They actually take a whole minute wrapping up the burrito and torta. Before I get into what happened to my order I'll just go ahead tell you guys that a lady came in as i finished my order, her complaint was that she had a few order for her co-worker and each and every single was wrong. On her order, her whole burrito had no meat at all.... The worker under the name of Angel also was not the nicest worker in the business. When I complained about how it took me get my food he asked me if I wanted a free drink in which I have already ordered one but yet to have in front of me. After I told him I have already order a drink hes like here take some free chips so he threw in my bag and smiled. After that Angel told me sorry it took forever and he blamed it on the lady who came in complaining about her wrong order. I told him it shouldn't take 45 mins to make a few tacos, and if he did the lady's order right the first time he wouldn't have to do it again. He then mummered something under his breath. The management has to review their employees since it such a new establishment. As for the food. The torta was bland no real flavor, The tacos were ok, and the burritos was too stuff rice and beans. Solid taco spot. Some reviews complained about the slow service. Although they took a little long to get through the long line, it wasn't by any means slow and the food came out very fast. We just visited the location. There was one couple in front of us who promptly got service. When he went to take our order a lady came over and range up a catering order. Then she disappeared. The original guy stared at us. Proceeded to touch money a really dirty towel and lot of food. No idea that he might be getting germs on the food. Then the guy starts making the food for the person that came in behind us. So we walked out. Not a clean place and ignore those that are not Mexican looking enough I guess. This place is the second one, I know they have the one in Orange. The food is great and authentic, which is why it was hard before to travel all the way out there for it before, but now they're closer! They offer some of the best tacos and burritos in OC. I've tried quiet a few places, but this is always my come back to restaurant. My friends swear by their shrimp bowl as well, I haven't personally tried it but I hear its amazing. They offer hand pressed tacos as well as street tacos. The staff is always friendly, and curious which is a plus. Everything is super well priced too for the quality type of meat and ingredients they use. They are definitely the authentic go to Mexican food anyone would be looking for. read more

Staff is 5 stars all so friendly. Their Asada tacos were good. Didn't have to add sale or lemon it had good flavor. The al pastor was not my favorite. It is better than many of the other taco places I've been to but it was not exactly what I was looking for. I was satisfied but I probably would just stick to asada. I wouldn't say this is my new taco place but it was right next to my job & it is good if I'm ever craving a taco but I wouldn't make the drive out here given that I go to so many taco places. While they're friendly, their food falls short of making my taste buds go nuts. I ordered the barbacoa taco and I wasn't really impressed. While there was some flavor, it just didn't satisfy me like other taco joints. The lengua taco could have had softer meat; I'm used to taquerias and carnecerias that have the most tender lengua available. I was driving buy and wanted something new and it looks like this place just opened up so I thought I would give it a try. It was pretty good but not good enough for a high rating. Don't get me wrong, the food I had wasn't bad at all. The carne asada needs more flavor. I had ordered the carne asada torta. The bread was really really good. Everything inside was good, but they told me they ran out of queso fresco. I just wished the meat had flavor. It needs to have a flavor that separates itself from all you mediocre food stands. The a/c was up and running on this visit. This go around I opted for the taco bowl with chicken and rice no beans. It was actually very good with the green salsa. The staff can definitely work on customer service. I was the only one in line and 2 employees working behind the counter. Me my mom and my sister went here. We went very hungry to this restaurant hoping for the best. The outside look some way nice but I think the equipment outside should have been a dead giveaway. My mom had the two Taco plate with rice and beans. I shared half a burrito and carne asada french fries with my sister and we all had a drink. I was charged for the two handmade tacos and was given store-bought tortillas the meat of el pastor was very rough had lots of flavor, and el pastor usually nice and tender. That burrito was carne asada I was so hungry I just ate it had no flavor tasteless. The carne asada french fries on my first bite had a funny taste then I tried other parts of it to determine what the taste was and thought nothing of it that it was just me. My sister didn't notice nothing so we ate it but later on notice that the guacamole was not fresh ,or the pico de gallo. It was very pricey I expected higher-quality fresher ingredients and way better tasting. I would not recommend anyone to go there. reason y! unless you want to send your enemies there to get the runs. I've been stopping by for lunch when i am in the area since thry first opened. I am a fan, so I decided to hire them to cater an event for my friends and family this summer instead of doing all the cooking myself (I only worried about adult drinks and dessert). The crew was professional, clean, and brought a good vibes along with their delicious food. Prices were extremely reasonable. I was surprised at how easy they were to work with, even with last minute planning. Everyone enjoyed the food and i was able to enjoy more time with my people. Been here a hand full of times because it's down the street from where I work. This place is ehh ok.. Nothing too special. I usually come here when I'm really craving for some tacos and I'm too lazy to drive to taqueria. Staff here are very friendly and welcoming! I usually get the carne asada tacos or burrito. They're very friendly with their portion size and the meat is flavorful. My only con is how the meat is cooked. Majority of the time their meat gets too dry and it just makes it hard to enjoy. If you are used to authentic, delicious, fresh Mexican food...this is Not the taco place for you. Everything is pre made and tasteless. The street tacos I got for my husband and I were not good.
