Great little find on our drive down to the desert. Nothing clicked driving through Barstow, but this came up on a search of local eateries. Not fancy, just great food and service. Brightly decorated for Valentine's Day. Warmly greeted, brought waters and menus quickly. Fresh tortilla chips and some of the best homemade salsa we've ever had (we've had A LOT!). Ordered the El Pastor burrito to split (needed to stay awake for the drive). Sizable dish...juicy tender slices of marinated pork combined with beans and rice in a soft tortilla. Hit the spot! We ate here for our first time today. First the restaurant is clean, bright and quaint. We were greeted by very friendly staff. The menu is very extensive offering very traditional foods as well and seafood dishes. I'm a big fan of Menudo and order it when I can. It was a huge bowl and very delicious! A hole in the wall right off the highway. From the time we walked into the door we were seated and chips & salsa on the table very soon after. Our drink order was taken. The Aqua Fresca were delicious made perfectly. We were there for breakfast and had the menudo which was so flavorful and a very large bowl. The prices were very reasonable. We stopped here on our way home. We have passed it so many times and have always wanted to stop. It was a bit empty but it was a Tuesday, so I wasn't surprised. We walked in and were greeted right away, I think the bartender. A server walked over and took us right away to our table. Our server was friendly and very attentive. I really like the booths being tall so you have more privacy. You can't see the people in the next booth on either side of you. They start you off with a basket of chips and salsa. Now, the way you know if a place is going to be good, is by the salsa. I was pleasantly surprised at the home made taste. It was fresh and appetizing. My husband ordered the carne asada burrito deluxe with green sauce. He really enjoyed it and said everything tasted fresh and they did not skimp on the meat, he commented on the taste of the beans being home made and flavorful. I ordered two carne asada a la carte tacos. I was surprised at the size, I thought they would be mini. They were delicious and I was very happy with what I ordered. I walked in before closing on Sunday to order "to go" two combination plate. One being a hard shell chicken taco and a cheese enchilada. 'The cheese enchilada was for me being a vegetarian. When I got home I realized the enchilada had chicken and I could not eat it. I drove personally three days later and asked for a replacement enchilada. She refused to because I didn't call in to report it. Then she said she couldn't because the owner was not present. If she cannot reach the owner and thinks she has the lone ability to discourage loyal business. Won't return. It's not that good and it didn't have one table seating. Probably why. Food is great but it smells like an open septic tank when you walk in the door. Disgusting for a restaurant to not call a plumber to have it checked out. Wow! What a delicious surprise in such a random location. Was out in Lucerne Valley for a baseball game and came here afterward...truly the BEST Mexican food I have had outside of Mexico. Everything is homemade and delicious! I had the relleno and barbacoa crispy taco combination. Both items were superb and the beans and rice (which for me are usually a throw away item when I get too full) were even better than the mains! The husband had shrimp tacos and enjoyed them just as much as I enjoyed mine. Guac was delicious, salsa had just the right amount of spice. I'm not sure if we will be back in the area, but if we are then we will surely have a great meal. Highly recommended! read more

The waitress was nice until the manager told her to refuse the coupon we got from restaurant.com; then she suddenly forgot how to speak English, turned her back, and walked away while we were still talking to her. The coupon was the only reason we went 20 miles out of our way to try this place. After some discussion with the manager, he decided to give us the discount anyway. I come to Lucerne valley anywhere from 3-10 times per year to visit my mother in law and for the last 3 years or so and never have I stopped to eat anywhere in town. I honestly didn't expect to find anything good, but while I was there I was craving some Mexican food and thought I might as well try something local. I ordered a. Wet burrito and I was impressed, so much so that I went back 2 days later for another. Except this time when we entered with our Service Dog in her clearly marked harness the cashier rudely..and in complete violation of federal ADA laws...not only refused to serve us...she called the deputies! Even after I informed her that I was retired law enforcement! She refused to give me the owner's name or contact information. The deputy was very nice. Horrible and very shady. I unfortunately had to do a split transaction because I lost my home and everything I own in a fire two weeks ago leaving my fiance and I homeless and having to eat out every day for the last two weeks. I had just $22.94 on my card and just enough cash to cover the rest of the bill. I told the girl at the register to charge the card 21 dollars and I would pay cash for the rest. She runs my card and it came back declined. I'm confused I just checked my account and there was $22.94 in there it should not be declined. I have her run it again, same thing declined, so completely embarrassed I say excuse me for a minute while I call my bank. I call B of A tell them what is going on and the lady says "ma'am they are trying to run your card for the full amount" I go back in and tell them what Bank of America said and stressed that I ONLY WANT $21 charged on the card. AGAIN same issue 4 more times twice more with the girl behind the counter and twice more with the manager or owner, I don't know? Then the manager says "do you want me to try to run it for a lower amount? " I say no because I have just enough cash to cover the balance after the card transaction. She again says "I can try a lower amount on the card" again THAT DOES NOT HELP ME, again I only have ENOUGH cash to cover what the card doesn't charging the card less and charging more cash still leaves me short so just forget it I give up! So I walk out of there with my tail between my legs completely embarrassed get in the car and call Bank of America AGAIN and this time I ream their butts because they keep declining me for my $21 charge making me look like a complete idiot! The poor woman on the phone says "ma'am we weren't declining $21 you had that covered, Adelita's Restaurant was running your card for $25.20 four different times, that's what was declining not $21 that you asked for" So I am beyond pissed off now because I just was made to look like an idiot, never so embarrassed in my life, bad enough I'm living out of my car right now feeling and looking like crap because of the whole fire and losing everything issue, they are going to make me go without my lunch pretty much the last thing we will eat until I get paid on Monday, I wanted it to be a good meal! So I call Adelita's Restaurant and told them what Bank of America said about the charging me $4.2 more than what I had authorized they of course denied it and tried to act like she didn't remember me and told her that Bank of America e-mailed me the declined transactions and I will be going to the Better Business Bureau and thank you so much for kicking me while I'm down, denying me of the one thing I had looked forward to and making me look like a total asshole! I appreciate it! It's not as if I was looking for a hand out, simply needed to split my payment between card and cash, what their issue was, I don't know but The Better Business Bureau is getting a complaint on this establishment and I will be spreading the word about their scam to our surrounding communities! read more

When We picked up our order not only were we missing one full meal not just two but three meals and a side to another meal. We noticed as we were passing it all out. When we called of course they were going to be giving us the 3 missing meals with sides and the other sides that were missing. So we pick it up for the second time get home and it was completely wrong and still missing our kids meal! So them wanting us to go back there a third time was absolutely too much and they explained they dont make green wet carne asada burritos after we ordered it and then Going back then It took me that third time to call and complain for them to say they don't do those burritos. I would like to give this place a higher rating based on a previous visit, but this last time was a one star visit. The chips are always fresh, but the guacamole was so salty we couldn't eat it. We told the waiter and he brought a fresh bowl and it was just as bad...we were charged for both as well! We both ordered burrito's and after the first bite it seemed like just as much salt was added to those as well.
