    Asada Fries

Came here randomly on Sunday while in Natomas. I order their Asada Fries, Camerones à la Diabla, an Adobada Super Burrito, and Menudo. I ended up getting take out because it was a little loud, but everyone was singing and having a great time! I really enjoyed all the food, would say about 4/5 for everything across the board. Probably would have tasted even better if I had it at the restaurant itself. Notably, not sure if this is uncommon or not but I noticed this restaurant uses red onion more, which I absolutely enjoy. The food came out pretty quickly when I ordered it and the person who served me was nice and helpful!

The service and food quality have always been excellent. They have a huge menu, a friendly staff, and a relaxed atmosphere that feels a step above a typical taqueria or fast casual spot, with solid table service to match. It's about time I gave them the credit they deserve because their food is consistently great. Historically, I've loved their enchilada plate, especially the mole enchilada. It's one of my favorites. Today, with the sun out, I was in more of a mariscos mood, so I ordered the shrimp ceviche and the fried tilapia plate. The ceviche is very bright and fresh, with mango mixed in, which adds a really nice layer of flavor to the traditional combination. It comes with freshly fried tostadas that are crisp and flavorful. I'm not personally a fan of the white crackers on the side, but they also bring complimentary chips and salsa, so once the tostadas run out you can use the tortilla chips instead, which works just fine. The tilapia was excellent. It's hard to go wrong with a well fried tilapia, and they do it right. The guacamole and pico on the side are great for building tacos, and the beans and rice are both perfect. You really can't go wrong coming here, especially with the variety they offer. Sitting outside on the patio is nice, though this particular location can feel a bit sketchy at times since a few odd characters often cut through the parking. It's mostly fine, but if you're looking for a more relaxed patio vibe, the other location might be a better option. That said, this spot also has a comfortable indoor dining area.

You order at the counter then are given a number. Picked up some complimentary chips and salsa and waited. The salsas here were pretty good. Particularly like the mild red salsa. Fresh radish and jalapeños available too. I loved my California burrito. I added avocado to it. The asada were meaty and plentiful. Fries were crunchy yet not greasy. My mom loved the beans here. That's always a big deal with Mexican spots. The chilaquiles were delicious. I'd order that myself on the next visit. We didn't care for their scrambled eggs on the plate, could've went a bit softer on the scramble. Overall this place is a great local spot for Mexican eats. Affordable while still serving big portions and awesome bites. Cashier was super friendly and patient.

It is a very casual setup, so do not expect an elevated dining experience. We ordered the FOB shrimp and the Chicken Katsu plate. The shrimp arrived a bit too sour and noticeably greasy for my taste. The Chicken Katsu was average and lacked the flavor and crispness I was hoping for. The macaroni and cheese that came with it was also quite dry, which made the plate feel incomplete. Service is minimal since you order at the counter and pick up your food yourself. I went in with high expectations and left feeling disappointed, especially considering how popular the place seems to be. That said, I am still open to giving it another try. There are a few other dishes on the menu that look promising, and I hope they will deliver a better impression on my next visit.

Honestly, I'm so…read moresad it's been so long since my last visit, because this place serves up some amazing food. The menu changes depending on what they're making, but they have certain items that are pretty consistent. One of those is poke. I LOVE their poke here, they have their own seasoned poke mix with fresh fish, veggies and sauce and it is delicious. They offer it as nachos, a bowl, or loaded fries and while I'm tempted to try some of the other options the bowl is my go-to. The poke bowl is $15 and comes with rice with furikake as well as a good portion of poke. Like I mentioned, it's preseasoned and it delicious. The ingredients are fresh and I love their flavor combination. I would love if the bowl came with a scoop of mac salad, but with the portion at this price I'm happy to add it as a side. I ordered the spring rolls ($4) and it came with five pieces of crispy and flavorful fried spring rolls. Great value for the price. I also ordered the pork laulau ($14) and Musubi ($3) for my husband and the portions on these were also great. The musubi was hot and flavorful and they gave me some FOB sauce with the musubi that went surprising well together. The laulau plate had mac salad, rice, and the wrapped pork. The pork was fattier than some of the laulau I've had in Hawaii, but was flavorful and the whole plate was a perfect portion for the price. The team working here was very friendly and helped me get in and out with my to-go order pretty quickly. The food was packed with care and made it home and was still nice and hot after the drive. They use high quality to-go containers and line them with aluminum foil which is a nice touch. They also made sure the vents were open on the spring rolls so they'd stay crispy. They have plenty of seating inside, as well as some outdoor seating. This restaurant is a bit tucked away, but has plenty of parking. I will definitely be back, and I won't wait as long between visits, because the food is so good! Check out their instagram for specials.

I asked if she thought we would be able to receive our food in enough time to eat it in about an hour. She pointed out a couple of dishes that would take some time to prepare and said the rest would come out quickly. She checked a couple of times to make sure we had everything we needed as she wanted us to be able to finish our lunch in enough time. Now the food: Avocato Smash (guacamole) served with tortilla chips was so fresh and fantastic! The clam chowder was delicious as was the large portions of Caesar salad and Farmers Market salad. The Farmers Market salad was so flavorful that I didn't need any salad dressing. Crushed pistachios surrounded the edge of the plate. I couldn't really taste it, but not a problem. The guava mocktails were light on the flavor, but still refreshing after a long walk outside. I'm so happy we stopped by. Maddie, you're a gem!
