It's been a few years since I last visited EDK and last time it was pretty good! But sadly not this time. Decor was fine but very noisy. The server was rude and flustered. The filet mignon that I ordered mid rare was very well done and hard to choke down, the only good part of it was the 2 tiny roasted potatoes. The aps we're pretty good, everything else was not. It had been a few years since I dined at El Dorado. As a local you can get 'bored' with the same ole same ole stuff. Fast forward to now. And the El Dorado has a new Chef in its kitchen! One that updates its menu consistently and answers the wants of his customers! El Dorado is located on the Sonoma Square and is part of the El Dorado Hotel. They offer small bites for breakfast, full lunches and dinners. They have indoor and outdoor seating available as well as a lounge where you can come in for a drink or two before venturing out for the night. I really like the patio and how closed in it is. Although off of Spain Street which has a lot of car traffic, you dont really hear that when sitting in the court yard. It has some really pretty landscaping as well. I love taking my Mom here for lunches. I now recommend the El Dorado again to friends and family when they visit. And I have been supporting them during Covid with take outs orders. SO good!!! Other than a bit too much salt on the salad, this meal was perfect in every way! Avocado toast was on a beautiful & THICK slice of perfectly toasted, yet still soft, bread, smothered in avocado smash with additional sliced avocado across the top, plus, a sliced hard boiled egg and beautiful mixed greens salad on the side. A very nice atmosphere with sectionalized seating for a warm atmosphere for such a large capacity floor. The fillet was cooked to my liking and the presentation was top notch. We had our dog Daisy with us and they went above and beyond with their accommodating for us. Overall, the food is good, the ambiance is pretty upscale-feeling and the service is fantastic. I brought a gf we were celebrating an occasion for, and they promptly sat us in the back patio it when reserving, otherwise indoors), and the climate and ambiance was perfect. An extensive list of wines and cocktails/mocktails, as you're in wine country of course! The food is great and varies from things for brunch like french toast, to oysters and plates for dinner. Great find in Sonoma - we came here for brunch, and loved the vibe with it's modern dinning decor. The brunch menu offered some really great comfort food favorites - I ordered the chilaquiles, which brings me to another good area of our experience, the portion of our meal was huge. There was no skimping here - we finished our meal content. The menu also included a wide selection in cocktails and beer, as well as wine. The service was great - they worked in tandem making sure our service needs were being met. I would recommend brunch here for anyone visiting the Sonoma/Napa area. Before we go any further, El Dorado Kitchen has the best truffle fries I've had in my entire life. And I've had a disgusting amount of fries so trust me when I say that means something. They're a must order. We came for an early birthday dinner and it was fantastic. Great services, nice atmosphere, and killer upscale food. I loved the risotto and gnocchi. My husband wasn't crazy about his seafood paella as it was more "acidic than creamy" in his opinion but of course this is just a personal preference. Disappointing. I was looking forward to good food in a pretty outdoor atmosphere for a special occasion. I picked EDK despite a fairly limited menu for my non-meat-eating tastes in large part because of the patio. While large and comfortable (much more pleasant than the over air-conditioned inside), it was almost completely covered, making it feel more like a stark outdoor room than the lush garden I remembered from a prior visit. Drinks were creative and tasty, and service was very good, but the food really fell short. Fairly early in the evening, the kitchen ran out of the few items on the menu that worked for me, leaving me to order a second appetizer for my main course. Not ideal at any time, and especially not on what was supposed to be a special occasion dinner. Had the two appetizers been excellent, I would have still left happy. Sadly, the simple caesar salad seemed like it had been dressed for hours, with leaves on the bottom limp from the unremarkable dressing. The second appetizer was merely adequate. read more

Went in for dinner tonight with friends and had a really great experience. Service was great and the timing of the food was perfect for us. Two of us got the Poke Bowl which was way larger than we thought it was going to be and they didn't hold back on the tuna. I'd come back for that dish again. My partner got the Salmon on sunchoke purée which he really loved and we shared a Caesar which was also delicious. Cocktail we're great as well - the Jalapeño Business was perfect. No one is more surprised than I am to give El Dorado Kitchen five stars for it's brunch offerings. We came here many years ago when it first opened, and while we enjoyed the modern, white dining room, the open kitchen, and a terrific location right on the Sonoma town square, we felt the food didn't live up to the pretty. Flash forward to this weekend, and we had a remarkably good lunch here. Just tops, from food, to service. This is recommended for brunch and lunch as being a very good, consistent option and judging by our experience, a more sophisticated experience than Girl and the Fig. Despite it being eleven thirty, and switching from a breakfast menu, to a "lunch menu" the El Dorado seems to know that well-prepared eggs are welcome on my plate any time of day. From perfectly rendered hash topped with oozy poached eggs, to an egg white omelette with a side of decadent crisp fries, to their inky, black french press coffee, everything came out of the kitchen exceeding our brunch expectations. Add to that a service experience that was thoughtful and attentive. El Dorado managed to make all the tables, from couples to families, feel catered too, which can be a tall order in wine country. Recommending El Dorado as a super solid Sonoma brunch and lunch stop now. They've really raised the bar. read more

This review was a long time coming. I came into EDK for lunch a while back and had the pleasure of sitting out on their beautiful patio. I ordered the Angel Hair which was phenomenal! During my meal the restaurant appeared quite busy, but you never would've known based on the service. My server, Ulyses, was very attentive and took great care of me! Initially, I wasn't planning on drinking, but after I was recommended the La Pelle Chardonnay, I found myself convinced. I mean, who am I to turn down wine in wine country? Wonderful from start to finish!! We got the cornbread which tastes like my grandmama's corn bread so that says A LOT! The focaccia bread was also a fan fav. We got the Brussels sprouts and salmon which were delicious. The salmon needed a bit more salt. But with the sauce underneath and bacon it all balanced out. The service was so fantastic that I hate to give the food a poor review. It was a special day for us and this was like a once a year fancy (expensive) meal but the food let us down. Some of the fried tortillas in our appetizer were rubbery, both of our dishes had shrimp that were hard to chew and the ravioli was rubbery. One of the mussels hadn't opened and I'm of the understanding that's not good but my apologies if I'm wrong on that. I thought everything tasted okay otherwise but it wasn't anything we'd rush back to eat again. But I must reiterate that the servers were lovely and were the best part of the experience. read more
