This place was above average! I'm a hard sell when it comes to taste of Mexican food being I was Texas born and raised! On the road. Staying in Baker City at the Gieser Grand for the night. Asked at the desk for a good Mexican spot and they pointed us to this place a few blocks away. This is a family run place. They own a few other spots in Eastern Oregon and even another one in town, Arceo's. A traditional Mexican cantina with decor to match. Good stuff, adjusted for their American clientele. The chips are freshly made and kept full at the table. The salsa was nice and spicy, tomatoes (canned?) with fresh onions , cilantro and halapenos added. I had Carne des Res, a beef, onions and peppers saute (nice) and S.U. had a grilled skirt steak that was excellent. A dinner salad for an extra $1.25 was standard American iceberg and bottled dressings. Add a couple of Negra Modellos to lubricate the rest of the evening and we walked out happy and satisfied. read more

Chips and salsa: Ordinary. Cheese enchilada: like a giant mozzarella stick wrapped in a tortilla with a little sauce thrown on top right before serving. Totally one dimensional. The beans and rice were standard. Flan: WHAT ON EARTH. This "flan" was bright orange with a cherry-red sauce, served right side up in an ice cream dish with oily fake whipped topping and a maraschino cherry on top. The texture was lumpy, as though it had previously been frozen. Either way, this was not flan by any definition. A total disappointment. read more

The food and service were amazing. I had the bacon wrapped shrimp which was the best I've ever eaten, and I try it everywhere it's offered. Mi espousa had the huge shrimp burrito which he also really enjoyed. The restaurant is fresh and fun and the food was delicious. You can't go wrong here. Margaritas were also wonderful. read more

We went here for lunch and picked two of their lunch specials. First was an enchilada and taco and second was an enchilada and tamale. Both were $6.50 and tasted really good. We also got some guacamole which was $3.25 and sour cream $1.25, wish we were told those would be extra but oh well. The guacamole was freshly made and had good flavor. Overall the food was outstanding and service was really good. Next time in baker city we'll be stopping in. read more

Blazing fast service, very good food. Don't know what else to say. I used Yelp to find a good Mexican place, and this is what I got. Some friends rolled into town while we were waiting for our food, and they got a table next to us and we all pretty much had our food at the same time. I'm impressed. Eat here. read more

I'm torn on this review. The fact is, if you're from an area that has a lot of Hispanics in it, you'll know that this food is partially Americanized and just not as good as it should be. On the other hand, if you're looking at a Mexican restaurant in the NE portion of Oregon? This is pretty darn good. The chips are fresh, though the salsa tasted slightly more canned than homemade. The guacamole, while tasty, was more a "pico de gallo with avocado" than "avocado with some pico de gallo and other seasonings". They did have picadillo. Picadillo! That's not something you see all over the place. Not only did they have it, but it was pretty darn tasty as well. The service was very attentive, and they kept our drinks, chips, and salsa refilled as much (if not more!) than we needed. read more

Had high hopes for the trio fajitas but when they came out there was an abundance of butter and peppers and onions but the meats were lacking, no flavor, and over cooked. It was a bad meal. I was expecting more from this place per the previous reviews. We went in on a Sunday afternoon while passing through and felt like we made a good choice based in the number of people inside. It took at least five minutes for someone to bring us water to our table and another five minutes after that for a waitress to show up. But I appreciated the extra time because of their large menu. Lots of standard Mexican fare looking delicious in the menu. The food came quickly and it was piping hot! Looked delicious except for my Chimichanga, which I thought was supposed to be deep fried but evidently they prepare it differently here. The flavor of everything was good and everyone left full! The food was decent and the service so-so. I would be willing to go back and give them another try on my next road trip. read more

Love this place! I'm so sorry we don't live closer because we had the best dinner there on Sunday night. Our party of 4 started with the Cocktail, a warm ceviche ... outstanding. For dinner, everything we ordered was terrific, whether combo plates or other menu choices. The restaurant even made me a fresh salsa verde to go with their terrific chips. Margaritas were great, but no pitcher available - the only small disappointment. The service was as good as the food. So much food, such a great value. This is the real deal. Go, eat! read more

Don't let my three star rating scare you away -- the food at El Erradero is quite good. And overall, they provide good service. I came in on a Sunday night, and it was busy. Two large parties, and many tables and booths were filled. Nevertheless, I was seated promptly, got watered, "chipped and salsa'd" soon, and ordered in a reasonable time frame. They even replaced the chips and salsa as they got low. My mole enchiladas were great, and my margarita was just what the doctor ordered. So what was lacking? No one checked how my meal was, and I sat without a drink for quite a while before I could catch my server's attention and ask for another. I should note that the rush was ending when I was hoping for another margarita. All I ask is for servers to take a look around occasionally. So four stars for the food and most of the service, and one star dropped for a couple of misses. Still worth the visit though. read more

Six of us arrived in Baker City at dinnertime and we were hungry. The only restaurant with any cars parked outside seemed to be this one and we all agreed that Mexican sounded good. We were all very happy that we came here. Service was good, decor was cute, and the food was very good. Three of us ordered the Ensalada Costa Alegre and we're happy that we did. Stopped here while driving through town. Basic family-style restaurant with all of the usual suspects of Mexican-American cuisine. Friendly and attentive staff kept our drinks full the whole time. If this restaurant were in Los Angeles or San Francisco I'd only give it 3 stars for having basic food, but out here getting the basics right is worth an extra star. (Although, in LA or SF, getting really good table service like this would be worth an extra star.) read more

I'm very picky about my Mexican food and this place meets my needs, wants and desires almost completely. Great service, friendly staff and they aim to please. Prices are very reasonable and portion are good. Fresh chips and salsa and if you ask, they'll bring you hot-bean dip. Every restaurant we tried closed early. Then, I found El Erradero on Yelp. The reviews were right. This is a great place! The Maricopa a la Crema is amazing. This place is kinda out of the way from the interstate and there is next to no parking but the food makes up for all of that, I have eaten here twice and both times it has been excellent, nothing that I have had here has been anything but excellent. I love the salsa they bring out for the chips . And the rice and beans are great. The service here is excellent and courteous. Highly recommended. read more
