I finally had a chance to eat at the original. It's amazing to me how consistent the base flavors are at each farolitos restraunt. The parents have passed on a tradition that lives on in all three farolitos restaurants. Fullerton, East Raymond St and Placentia all three have that distinct farolitos flavor that you can only get at these three locations. To me keeping these flavors and recipes consistent is an art form that I truly appreciate and worth the visit. read more

We've been here once before on the recommendation of my uncle. Such a great recommendation. We were in the area once again and stopped in for a quick lunch. I ordered a burrito and my husband had breakfast enchiladas. Everything was so good. I took home a major portion of my burrito because the serving is so large. My son ate my leftovers and loved it. My husband said his plate of food was fantastic. The restaurant doesn't really look like a restaurant from the outside. Always consistently good every time we come here. The food is always good and the service is outstanding. We love coming here for authentic Mexican food. Papas plate is our go to with chicken enchiladas in red sauce. It's the best red sauce you will ever eat. They are under construction with the expansion so they no longer have that outside seating where it was a parking lot. The outside looks beautiful so I don't know how long it will take for them to open that side up. They still have a lot of seating without that portion of the restaurant. This is the quintessential Mexican food restaurant and it was amazing!!! We came at 230p and sat down immediately, though this place is reportedly busy and can lines out the door. Chips were fresh out of the fryer and the salsa was incredible. Service was polite and quick. I had the carne asada plate and I loved every bite. Even their rice and beans were phenomenal. My wife had the chile relleno and cheese tamale and I was blown away by her food as well. I love places like El Farolito that leave no stone unturned when it comes to flavor and quality. Came here based off a friend's recommendation! This place was very busy and parking situation was a bit weird. Thankfully, there is a small public parking lot down the street from the restaurant if street parking isn't an option. I was expecting the wait to be fairly long, but I got seated immediately as it was just me. Had a friendly waiter take my order, serving along a free side of chips and salsa, which was surprising but very much welcome! The waiter told me that it is always complimentary! I ordered the carne asada, which came with rice, beans, and a side of two corn or flour tortillas (by choice). My order came rather quick despite how busy it was. After taking bites of everything, everything tasted good! No component of my dish really stood out in a way where I can vouch for it highly, but nevertheless I would say you are definitely getting your money's worth. I do wish that the carne asada was of higher quality as I found it to be the biggest let down of the dish. Simply put, the meat was a bit bland and lacked in seasoning even when mixed with the other components of the dish. In the end of my experience here, I still believed that there is more to be had from El Farolito, especially when their menu has a lot of depth! I would go here every weekend for breakfast. I went back for dinner after 4 ish years. The food as always is VERY good. But the service was not so good. The server was very rude. I am truly very disappointed and upset to have not just me but my friend who I saw after 4 years get the same service. She dropped the bill and started chatting about our table to another customer. We parked on the street. A little tricky for a Friday night. There is parking up the street too. Remember, you are in a neighborhood. We were there a little later...about 90 minutes before closing. People were still coming in and others were waiting outside. Took a reasonable amount of time to get a table for 5. It was super busy. Every table was taken! They pack people in too. The waiters were focused to assure good service. We ordered 2 pitchers of margaritas. Good move! I dont know how all the waitstaff kept up but they did. It did mean that we had to wait to get refills. Ordering the multiple pitchers really helped! The food was really, really good. I have to say that I didn't expect it. I guess that is why it was so packed in there. The bill was extremely reasonable too. It was so worth it. If you are looking for good food and great margaritas, come to this place. read more

Not sure their issues but they definitely need to review I had the large menudo and it was the size of a small at most restaurants in the area. There isn't a bad selection on the menu. Our family favorite is some combination of the Mama's Plate with some additional cost add-on such as a Chile Rellenos. The chile sauce they serve with the taco chips (free) makes for a perfect seasoning for every dish they serve. I end up asking for another so often they bring 2 automatically when they see my wife & I are seated. There are other El Farolito restaurants in Orange County but this is the original one and the best one. Their success story is impressive. Many of the family live in the the same neighborhood hood....in gorgeous houses, by the way. Their food is delicious, the staff is friendly and helpful. El Farolito is the best traditional Mexican food I've had in Southern California. Even when it is crowded, they will seat you fast and food is always quick, no matter how many people are dining. The owner, I cannot recall his name, is very friendly and the staff is always friendly as well. Breakfast lunch or dinner, I've never had anything short of perfect at Farolito. For breakfast I highly recommend the breakfast enchiladas or the chorizo with potatoes. Dinner, I recommend the Carne Asada plate with a Piña colada. This will forever be my top recommendation for traditional Mexican food. I have not found a single place that's ever beat Farolito's flavor. The food is all made by the family's original recipes and is always perfect every time. They also have a new dining patio in the rear of the building which came out beautifully! read more

Came here last night to a long line of people (of course since it's a saturday night). My sister put her name on the list and we waited for a good 45 minutes. Eventually we started to wonder if they skipped our name. We asked and they said they had actually crossed out our name. 45 minutes waiting outside and nobody had called out our name so idk why it had been crossed out yet they never crossed out a guy name "Kobe" who's name they called about about 15 times in a span of 30 minutes still waiting on the guy. Then we finally sat down, my drink was way too sweet and had zero taste of alcohol. My sister ordered the regular piña colada and i should've ordered hers it was good but hers also didn't taste like alcohol until you got to the very last sip at the bottom of the cup. My tostada was really good actually but i didn't like the fact my whole plate was covered with all lettuce that i could hardly see my food or knew what i was really biting into. Loved that the chips were made fresh there but wish their salsa was a little less spicy or they had another option for a salsa. Also wish the place had been cleaner since it was dusty around the decorations in the store. I wish there was a easier way they could call out peoples names or an easier system of the way they do things but im guessing that's why they're building a larger opening in the back of the restaurant. we'll see , ill be back for when they renovate :) read more
