Went to El Folklor Bakery this afternoon. It was my fourth Mexican bakery visit in San Antonio. I didn't find anything special about this place. We purchased a lot of their pastries. They were terrible. The good reviews were n here must be fake reviews or the people making these positive comments have never been to a good bakery and have low standards. I have been to Mi Tierra restaurant downtown; they have a decent bakery. I was raised in a larger city with many ethnic choices for baked goods; I know what good bakery products taste like. This place is absolutely terrible. I will never visit them again. I've included the aftermath of my bad experience in the photo. I bit into and chewed out $20 worth of baked goods. Not much money but not worth the $2 it took to make this stuff... skip this place and spend your hard earned money elsewhere.

Tamales! Melt in your mouth moist goodness!

I just picked up my dozen of tamales for lunch and they are superb, melt in your mouth. The tamales were moist and tasty. I can't wait to pick up more dozens. WOW! The bakery also has fresh, wonderful pastries.

The customer service was poor, partly because of the language barrier. I was also charged twice for my order.

There is also a good selection of drinks as well. The staff are so friendly and welcoming, it makes the experience even that much better. I also got the opportunity to try the mango matcha refresher and OMG, it was so good and refreshing, especially during a hot texas summer. I look forward to coming back here and trying more things on their menu. I came as a part of yelp's hot matcha summer series, and I am beyond grateful to have been invited out here!

My wife and I also purchased the Captain Crunch donut to try. Since we visited about an hour before closing, it seemed like the staff was starting to wind down for the day. The matcha drink was definitely the highlight of the visit and had great flavor. Unfortunately, both donuts were cold and seemed a bit stale, which was disappointing. Overall, it was an average experience for me. I'd recommend visiting earlier in the day for the freshest donuts, and the matcha drink was worth trying.

It advertises its doughnuts in a few revolving glass tower. Not all look appetizing tbh because they are huge and display only BUTTTTTT I ordered an ugly one lol and I wish I had gotten two! I ordered a banana chocolate caramel and peanut doughnut. It was HUGE! Big as my head The flavor and textures were nothingggggg like I've ever tasted. It wasn't heavy and cake like. It almost favored a croissant but with more depth. The banana flavor was not artificial either. I wish I could explain how it took me by surprise and I doubt I'll find another like it. I will say it's THE BEST doughnut I've ever had. My husband had an Oreo one and loved his as well. He's a doughnut guy and idk if he's ever had one he doesn't like. We ordered a dozen plus 4 regular -- and first off, our dozen box looked like it had been thrown together from across the room. The box was just throw together rather than lined up gently (and without any parchment between the heavy, icing-covered donuts!) so by the time we got where we were going they were all stuck together and sharing icing flavors. Every haphazard donut stuck to the next. Unappetizing, I assure you. Secondly, after all that, they didn't even give us our four extra even though we paid for them.

Aggressive drivers, anxious shoppers, and every retail worker putting in a Nikola Jokic triple-double. I understand it is a different beast of food service when it is December 24th. Christmas breakfast is what starts off your day before ripping through presents, and this year my parents thought Duck Donuts' Christmas-themed donuts would be a fun change of pace from the cinnamon pull aparts that we normally do. On Christmas Eve, we placed a mobile order on the Duck Donuts website, which requires a mandatory tip to order online, and we selected the ASAP option that said it would take about 30 to 40 minutes. My dad, who was in charge of picking them up, said they were kind of behind and typically that was fine. However, as the donuts were coming out of the fryer, they were immediately decorating them with the icing and the crazy and unique Duck Donuts toppings. When the order was ready, my dad noticed that the dozen donut box was quite hot. Donuts are not usually served warm like that. When he got home to show them to us, all the designs of their gingerbread and other Christmas flavors had melted. All the creams had completely melted. It looked gross. We put them in the fridge to try and preserve them from melting any more, but only so much could be done to salvage them from their depressing state. It was a little tragic. I feel like this is a very rare occurrence from Duck Donuts, as we have had donuts from this location before and enjoyed them. It felt like the fault of Christmas special orders and the rush that led to a breakfast disaster from what was meant to be a special start of the morning. All things considered, the donuts were fine. They tasted okay, but they gooped up in your hands and just felt wasteful. For the price, you would hope they would not melt before you got home. Duck and cover donuts. RIYL: Specialty donuts, just not on December 24th.

At first, from the outside, I thought I was walking into a barbershop because of the door, but stepping inside was a fun surprise. The space is really unique--almost like a mini indoor shopping mall. The coffee shop is right at the front, but as you walk further back, there's a barbershop and a few other small shops to explore. Despite all that, it still has a chill, relaxed vibe.
