Great authentic Mexican bakery. Concha's were on point. The service was friendly and helpful...we were very pleased with all we got.

Go-to bakery for Mexican sweet breads, cookies, cakes and biscuits. They specialize in traditional Mexican Pan Dulce, along with some original goodies. Affordable in some cases, it does get pricey, when buying some of the more holiday typical offerings. We come here weekly to get their biscuits, which are more Mexican style and delicious. Can't say enough about this wonderful small bakery. Prices are so reasonable! 3 pastries for 5$ !! The ladies are very welcoming and friendly. The product is lined on the walls showcased wonderfully. The Semita de Anise is great for breakfast. They make it daily and will set aside as many as you want for same or next day pick up. The staff is friendly and the selection of other bakery goods is abundant. Very nice and clean. Our go to for bakery goods. read more

I'll preface this with the events that led to going to this bakery. We wanted to treat the office with some pan Dulce but was a spur of the moment type event as a way of giving thanks. There were two guest inside when I arrived which gave me time to look at the different pastries offered. When it came to my turn I apologised to the lady behind the counter about it being a large order considering the season. I was immediately yelled at in front of two other customers behind me. I was told to never do it again which to be honest was my first time and possibly last time at this establishment. As it was the guest there before me were also treated in a snappy way. When I had asked about what would be a preferred timeframe for future reference to order I was once again yelled at. By the way they need a weeks notice. Yet however between the two staff members stated everything was first come, first serve. I've never felt so confused at an establishment like this before. The pan dulce however was sweet and soft. Probably some of the better pan dulce I've had in the city. The office loved it for sure. It is just a shame the customer service here is almost non existent. read more

A historic Mexican bread bakery that has been in operation for 60 years! Was not sure what to order my first time here, but the staff was more than helpful! There are just so many choices to pick from. The Pan Dulce options include: sweet potato empandas, Pink Cake, and conchas. Pick whatever you think looks good and you won't regret it. I choose the sweet potato empanada, the gingerbread pig, and the Mexican wedding cookies. All were delicious. Different than what you'd taste in a normal doughnut shop but so many fun flavors to experience and try. Bedoy's is an iconic name in brown San Antonio, i.e. la raza lol. They have a classic selection of Mexican style pastries and sweets. I arrived right before closing tonight to find a young lady cleaning in the back but dutifully donning her apron to come wait on me when she heard the bell. You can tell they had a busy day because alot of the inventory was wiped out but there was still enough to choose from. Maranitos (gingerbread pigs), empanadas (turnovers with filling, usually pumpkin), piedras (sweet pastry made like a drop biscuit), and polvorones (large sugar cookies) are among my faves. My most favorite (but they run out alot so I don't always find) are the Mexican biscuits. I warm them in the micro and put some butter and rasberry jam and I am in heaven! read more

I've been wanting to give this bakery a try when I was visiting San Antonio. Finally stopped by today to check it out. There was a small line to get in due to Covid restrictions and how many customers (7) are allowed in at one time. They have a much wider selection of treats than I thought and I was able to come home with a few. Unfortunately, none of it's labeled, and as a "gringo", I don't know most of the items. I originally went in looking to find bolillos that were similar to those of my youth when my mother would go shopping somewhere in San Antonio. These bolillos were OK and very simple. Good bakery for authentic Mexican sweet bread, there is a lot of volume and plenty of variety such as cookies, buñuelos, and plenty more! On all the times I have come around noon there is still plenty of treats still in stock. I am always quickly greeted and have a friendly baker pack my order as I browse their selection. I really enjoy their rosey pink sugar cookies, conchas, and doughnuts! Their sweet bread stays fresh for days, I think for the low price it's quite the bargain. Excellent selection and fresh! We were spoiled with the selection at Mi Tierra. This place is has similar pan dulce, but better! The pan dulce has the original Bedoy style and flavor. The family business has been around for probably 60 years or so. Javier Bedoy, the current owner, has picked up where his father left off. That pink cake....wow! All the pan dulce here is excellent. The empanadas, conchas, donuts, cuernitos and polvorones are all great. But the pink cake is the best of all. High rising, moist, great vanilla flavor and the pink icing just perfectly sweet. Went & got some today for the merienda & a night snack. Best in this area of town, for sure. I had enough food to feed myself and my coworkers and it all came out to less than $10. They're extremely well priced and have a wide selection of great sweets and treats that you can take home to enjoy. That was a long, long time ago in a galaxy far, far away. On entering Bedoy's, I felt like a 10-year-old kid again! The same EVERYTHING: looks, sounds, smells. This IS authentic: spartan and minimalistic. We got there a bit late in the afternoon, but the selection was still pretty good.
