Local spot serving amazing ribeye tacos and burritos. Everything I've tried here has been fresh and delicious. Super friendly staff and relaxing atmosphere. They have patio and a private parking lot. The restaurant was sold and it went downhill fast but luckily the old owner bought it back. Now it's back to having fresh quality meats and solid food. Their happy hour is really good too. Their micheladas are perfect. Not too thick with the right mixture. If you have time for dessert go across the street to El Gallo bakery. It's the same owner. We frequent this restaurant due to its proximity and great dining.

Everything was delicious. Michelada's were awesome. The service was beyond amazing. The Michelada mix it's a in-house special.

The food is amazing from the Rib eye the birria and asada the guacamole the nachos the salsas. Cold ass beers friendly service ambiance rustic mexican vibes. Definitely recommend this place located in a rough part of the neighborhood considering parking. Outside patio for a la fresco dining.

Delicious food, good service and very reasonably priced. Gabrielo was very courteous and attentive, the ambiance is beautiful and there is plenty of inside and outside seating. Parking is a bit tight, but well worth it

Although this restaurant has some redeeming qualities (some food items and drinks) the overall experience here at this restaurant is mediocre if not very poor overall. Having visited this establishment once before a second go around was again a let down. The food is overpriced! I asked for a large order of chips and guacamole and was given a small bowl with 4 chips...4 CHIPS...$15?! The waitresses and staff need to be updated to younger staff as the workers take at minimum 15 mins. to check in with the table unless having been flagged down to ask for another refill/drink. I would stay away, better Mexican style restaurant with better food, prices, staff and ambience.

This place isn't closed by any means. We were there 02/18/2024 for breakfast. Love the vibe, food was freshly made and the server was very friendly. I got the chilaquiles with egg and carne asada. Chips were still nice and crunchy, green sauce was delicious and the meat was pan fried, light crisp edges. They also give you birote (bread) and potatoes. Prices were mid-range for the quality of food and service. We will be returning soon, we usually go for bread at their bakery across the street and that's what prompted us to try out this restaurant. Oh and they have their own parking. P. S. I just noticed on my bank charge that this place is going by the name, Dame Veneno. Even tho the signage still shows El Gallo Grill.

1/25/25 - Carne en su juego y Modelo Michelada. Vamos aver. I've been here several times and the food is awesome!

This place is a hidden gems!! We stopped in to get a to go margarita the owner was kind enough to offer us fresh homemade tortillas with butter we said we'll be back for dinner sure enough we came back my fiance got breakfast which is served all day and I got chicken and steak fajitas it's not on the menu but said they can make whatever which made my partner get a omelette W/ cheese. The chorizo queso was the best I've had 12/10 I recommend everything! When I say this is the best Mexican food I've had outside of my own kitchen I'm in love with the freshness and quality of the food and meats the flour tortillas are amazing handmade and light. Food was amazing and piping hot coming to our table. The service is 10/10 our waiter was literally the sweetest person we'll definitely be back for the ambiance, service, food and quality.

Out of the appetizers, the sprouts was the one that surprised me the most. The bacon and seasoning complement the baked Brussels sprouts perfectly. The calamari was whatever, I felt it was too battery for my personal liking but my friend loved it. The oysters were smaller than what I usually get from other restaurant but it still hit the spot. The entree was amazing and the jambalaya has quite a kick to it even when I ordered it at medium heat. There was plenty of shrimp, mussels, sausages, and protein in the pasta and rice dish. Parking in the plaza was atrocious because it is a busy plaza with a gym and other amazing restaurants and quick bites. Can't wait to stop by again.

The environment is family-friendly, with several tables occupied by kids and families. Just be aware that the music and overall noise level are fairly loud. Service was attentive and they checked up on us regularly. We ordered 2 dozen oysters ($1.50 each), the fish and chips ($11.50), mussels and clams ($10.50), and a beer. The oysters were fresh, mostly clean, and came with the usual accompaniments. My only minor complaint is that small seafood forks would have been nice to have available. The mussels and clams were the disappointment of the meal. While the broth itself was flavorful, the portion was downright sad. We received only 4 mussels and 4 clams total, and the bowl felt almost empty. The standout was definitely the fish and chips. Dare I say the best fish and chips I've ever had? The batter was well-seasoned without being overly salty. The fish was crispy, hot, flaky, and surprisingly not too greasy. The fries were also excellent, with a crunchy exterior and fluffy, mashed potato-like interior. I would absolutely order this again. Overall, for happy hour, come for the fresh oysters and fish and chips. Skip the embarrassingly skimpy bowl of mussels and clams.

We started with the oyster sampler featuring selections from Hollywood, MD; Pope's Bay, VA; Buzzards Bay, MA; Chesapeake Bay, VA; and Wellfleet, MA. The oysters were exceptionally fresh and served with great accompaniments. We always order oysters when visiting seafood restaurants because freshness is so important to us, and Water Grill absolutely delivered. A must-order. The grilled Spanish octopus, served with fingerling potatoes, Niçoise olives, roasted tomato, pine nuts, and olive oil, was very good (3.5/5). We're fairly picky when it comes to octopus, and while we would have liked a bit more char, it was still among the better versions we've had. The New Zealand king salmon sushi with avocado, hazelnuts, papaya, and white soy-lime vinaigrette was fresh, clean, and delicious (5/5). While not particularly unique, it was executed perfectly. The crispy calamari with harissa aioli and cilantro-mint sweet chili sauce was also well done (4/5)--crispy, not oily, and very enjoyable. Calamari is another dish we frequently order, and this version met our standards, even if it wasn't especially memorable. The standout among the appetizers was the New Zealand pink bream ceviche with cilantro, red peppers, onions, lemon juice, and olive oil. The presentation was beautiful, and the flavors were incredibly fresh (5/5). We only added a touch of salt. This is another must-order dish. The Peruvian bay scallops with pistachio citrus pesto were somewhat underwhelming (3/5), and the Brussels sprouts with bacon and chestnuts (3/5) didn't leave much of an impression either. The lobster itself was excellent (5/5)--sweet, fresh, and perfectly prepared. The accompanying coleslaw wasn't our favorite, but we'd happily order the lobster again and probably go for a larger portion next time. The absolute star of the evening was the Massachusetts black sea bass. It was easily one of the best dishes of the night and possibly one of the best fish dishes we've ever had at a restaurant (5/5). Tender, juicy, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. To top it all off, the restaurant surprised us with a complimentary birthday dessert featuring chocolate cake, vanilla cake, oatmeal cake, and ice cream. It was thoughtful, delicious, and a wonderful ending to the meal (5/5). Overall, Water Grill earns a well-deserved 5/5. The quality and freshness of the seafood were outstanding, the beachfront ambiance was beautiful, and the service was friendly and attentive throughout the evening. Definitely a must-try seafood destination in Los Angeles. Thank you to the entire team for such a memorable experience--we truly appreciated it.

Turns out Yelp was having a moment of brilliance. We rolled in with a full-on clan of 14 hungry young adults, and somehow everyone left happy, full, and already talking about what they'd order next time. Our table was stacked with garlic string beans, walnutshrimp, special fried rice, French beef and Lobster with pan-fried noodles. The shrimp was a crowd favorite, the noodles were loaded with flavor, and even the string beans earned plenty of compliments. My only tiny critique is that for me the walnut shrimp was a bit more breaded than I personally like, but that's a minor speed bump in an otherwise fantastic meal. Pro tip: ask them to bring the rice out first. The dishes are packed with bold, rich flavors, and having a bowl of rice ready lets you soak up every last delicious bite without feeling like you've gone ten rounds with a sodium ninja. The service was outstanding too; our servers teamed up and handled our group of 14 like pros, stayed attentive throughout the night, and never missed a beat. We separated the youngins and OGs in two close tables. We arrived about 3 hours before their 11 p.m. closing time on a busy Saturday, yet nobody made us feel rushed. It took 45 min to be seated and we stayed to closing. Er had so much fun in this VIP experience. The restaurant itself is spacious, tucked into a shopping center with plenty of parking, making it an easy choice for groups big or small. If Kim Tar can keep 14 people fed, smiling, and agreeing on dinner, that's practically a miracle. I'll definitely be back for another feast. Next time I'll have the 3 pound lobster just for me!
