Wow! This place has some of the tastiest clams I've had in a loooong time. All the seafood was super fresh, and you can taste the natural sweetness in every bite. We ordered combo A for the two of us, and it was so much food we weren't able to finish it all. Great value for the amount and quality of food you get. Service was kind and efficient. They helped us get all the seafood onto the grill and turned it when it came time. There is a parking lot to the right of the restaurant. It wasn't too busy on a Thursday night. Arrived at 10:30 PM after a long drive from San Jose. The place was still packed, with only one open table left. We were lucky to get seated. With just two of us, we decided on Combo A. We were hesitant at first, unsure if it would be enough food, but it turned out to be more than enough. The entire experience was great. The staff didn't rush us, even though we stayed past their official closing time at 11:00 PM. One thing to note: the staff cooks the food for you, which is a nice touch. However, their English is limited, so you may need to point and repeat requests in a simple way to be understood. DONT BE AFRAID TO ASK QUESTIONS: Often, the staff would move some of the food to a different section of the grill, which I assumed meant it was ready. But when I reached to grab it, I was kindly (and quickly) waved off with hand gestures. Turns out it still needed more time. So if you're unsure, just ask! The sauces were delicious but they're not brought out automatically. We only realized they were available after seeing other tables with colorful sauces, and had to get up and point them out to the staff. PARKING: Check where you park. I parked around the corner where I had seen other customers do the same. However, I later realized it was bank parking. Even though the bank was closed, security made rounds and issued tickets -- so be cautious. Overall, the food was delicious and very filling for two people. We almost couldn't finish it. A WORD OF CAUTION: The smoke is intense. While they have fans, vents, and air purifiers, they don't do much. The restaurant itself is very small and inconspicuous. There weren't many tables, but that wasn't a problem since there wasn't a single other customer there during the entire duration of my meal. Luckily since it looked like it was a one man show. The grills are actual charcoal but the ventilation is not the best. Minus star. The menu is different sized combos of seafood. We chose the$170 level which included different kinds shrimp, calamari, clams and abalone. There was also hagfish which from past experience was intimidating, but the way they grilled it, I liken it to be like grilled dried squid. (Not slimy) Included were sides like grilled cheese corn, seafood salad and a noodle soup. Service was ok as the guy grilled all the food, but not the most polite person. Food is grilled on a combo charcoal and gas stove at each table, with a server helping cook and portion out food. You get a cotton glove to help hold the hot grilled food like clams to eat. Although there is a vent above each table to help pull out smoke, the room still has a smokey charcoal smell to it so be advised if you have asthma or lung issues. I like that this place has hag fish on the menu as it's my favorite I like the crunch texture. My parents enjoyed the live abalone and cherry stone clams. I wanted Combo A because I think it would be a good combo for 2, but the husband wanted Combo B because you do get to try more things, so we went for B. It is real charcoal, which makes the food taste even better even without any seasonings. There was only one server running between tables. We asked if he was the owner, he said no, he said he owner is drinking soju somewhere, lol. Our bill has the server as the manager, so I assume he was the manager. We think he was great. He knows the timing of the food and he really cares about the food and customer's needs. I need it to be fully cooked and he would suggest wait a bit longer to be sure. He basically grilled and cut everything for us. We just serve ourselves when it's ready to get eaten. Food was great, service was excellent. Here's some other comments that didn't impact my score for them but you may want to know. It does get hot, esp your face, bc the grill is right in front you. You will smell like seafood grill, including your clothes, so make sure you take a shower afterwards, please. The smoke does cover my face so sometimes I feel like I can't breathe. So I decided to take them to the Clam House in Monterey Park since I assume it's easier to park there. It's the same type of food with good reviews on Yelp. We visited here on a Thursday and there was no wait. Of course, parking was not a problem. We all found street parking. My friends arrived before I did and secured a table. The first thing they noticed was that the menu was very simple. There were only four options. We inquired about the option suitable for a party of four and we went with Combo C. The dinner began with a shrimp seafood salad, which, honestly, wasn't that exciting but probably the only greens you are going to get for the meal. Then the seafood grilling started. All the seafood was really fresh. My friends were all amazed that the abalone were literally turning around when the server placed them on the grill. Everyone took out the camera to capture the moment. We really enjoyed all the clams, scallops, squid, eel etc. The meal also provided sides like steamed egg, corn with cheese and kimchi pancakes which were all quite good. The two different types of soups cooking on the side were good too. Towards the end, we had giant oysters, which only one of us enjoyed, as the rest of us were not really oyster eaters. The meal ended with noodles followed by half a potato and a sweet potato. They were there to really fill you up if you were still hungry at that point.
