Ordered the chilaquiles Verde, they were pretty good. Wish it had a little more sauce on it. The eggs were good, beans and rice were a small portion but good too. I believe it needed some purple onions and a queso or creama to add to the flavor. I don't usually leave negative reviews because I know mistakes happen, but I was really disappointed with my experience today. I ordered a wet burrito and specifically requested no beans, but to add cilantro and onion. While I was placing my order, I felt like the cashier was rushing me, and I don't think my request was heard correctly. The burrito came out with beans, which is the one thing I had asked to leave off. When I brought it back, I was told my ticket said "plain." I explained that I had only asked for no beans and wanted everything else, including cilantro and onion. They remade it, and this time the cilantro and onion were added, which I appreciated. Unfortunately, the food itself was still very disappointing. The burrito had almost no flavor, no salsa inside, and the wet sauce tasted more like spaghetti sauce than a traditional enchilada or wet burrito sauce. It wasn't what I expected at all. At nearly $15 for one burrito, I expected much better quality and a better overall experience. I don't enjoy leaving negative reviews, but I hope this feedback helps because there is definitely room for improvement in both customer service and the food. read more

Who knew that a tiny place in Montebello would have such a great Mexican restaurant?? Yelpers came thru big on this one. I have been craving green salsa chicken enchiladas for a while, and almost every place where I have gotten them has been a disappointment. Finally, I found a place that comes thru, and the name is La Enchilada! This was a wonderful plate of green salsa chicken enchiladas for about $11, and I so happy with the flavor and the temperature of the food. The only knock on this place is that they don't give you a number to take to your table. So when they said, "green salsa chicken enchiladas" I said, "that's me" because that's what I ordered and I had the receipt to prove it. In actuality, I took someone else's order, completely by accident. Luckily, I didn't take 1 bite off my plate and the original customer trusted me and ate it. The cashier then brought me the plate that I had ordered, about 5 mins later. However, I feel like this entire situation was avoidable if they handed out a number to bring to your table. 4 stars! read more

I also had the chicken taquitos BOMB with guacamole on top, the fried tortilla on the taquitos is very gentle, kind of flaky when you bite it which is good cause I hate those hard taquitos with thick tortillas.. oh! & it has a lot of chicken in the middle and fresh! The food is not the greatest, I ordered the enchiladas and they were not good. The tortilla was dry, the chicken felt like it was a grilled piece of chicken that was chopped and not shredded chicken but I guess it's preference. I'm actually writing this on behalf of other customers who we witnessed getting bad service. We've been here a few times but it's not one of our go to places, it's decent but to be honest I wouldn't recommend it. The food is decent but after what my wife and I witnessed today I will more than likely not be returning. It wasn't overly crowded but our order was taking a while when I told my wife let's be a little more patient because the guys sitting at the table next to us hadn't received their food either and they were about 3 customers before us. We then see one of the guys, who had just gotten his food get up to ask the girl bringing the food to the tables that she hadn't brought all their food, she asks for his receipt and with a smug look and reply she said well I guess you're going to have to wait aren't you my wife and I heard and were upset for the guys because they didn't deserve that response. I was about to get up and say something but I must have had that look because my wife grabbed my arm and told me hold on relax it's not even your food so I didn't say anything but I did say it's ok I'll just give them a review on yelp which is part of the reason for the review. For those of you thinking I'm just a rude customer I'm not, my daughter is in the food service industry and know what they have to deal with from time to time. The food honestly isn't that appetizing to me, but I continued coming because is near my home..Unfortunately, there is new staff working here now, and the attitude and customer service have really gone downhill. They rush you while you're ordering and ask questions with such an attitude, as if they're the ones paying for the food. I don't normally take the time to leave Yelp reviews unless the service is really bad, but this experience was frustrating enough that I felt I needed to say something. I understand that the restaurant closes at 8 PM, but that shouldn't mean customers have no choice about where they sit or eat. They isolate customers to one side of the restaurant and basically force you to choose a side you may not want to sit on. If you're running a business because of your customers, why not make the effort to provide quality food and quality customer service? Unfortunately, after this experience, this will be my last time visiting this restaurant. The attitude from the new staff completely changed my opinion of the place. I ordered two fish tacos and one Carnitas entrees. The cashier was friendly. It took 15 minutes for my order. At home I ate the fish tacos, beans and rice for lunch. I must say the food was disappointing. Fish tacos tasted like Swai fish breaded. I think Del Taco has better tacos. The carnitas was so dry and lean it was hard to eat. My wife and I visited La Enchilada Sunday, around 6:30pm. We ordered 1 dine-in Pozole, 1 take-out Pozole, and 1 dine-in veggie wet burrito. We got seats and waited for our order. I noted the time on the receipt said 6:41. We got our food around 7:15--close to a 35-minute wait. To be fair, the place was busy (many take-out orders being filled), and we probably hit the dinner rush. The food itself was very tasty; the red Pozole had boneless pork, and was very richly-flavored. My wife likes a bone or two, but she didn't miss them. The toppings were fresh, and tortillas were served on the side. (My wife thought that a little odd, as she is used to Pozole served w/o tortillas.) I enjoyed the Veggie burrito, with salsa roja, but could only finish half--very large! I took the rest for next day's lunch. La Enchilada is a simple, clean restaurant, with fresh, tasty food. Prices are very reasonable. Try to avoid the busy times, but you won't be disappointed with the food quality or quantity served there. I passed by this place many times and finally went in on a Sunday morning for some breakfast burritos for me and the family. Always looking for a place that makes quality, large breakfast burritos and I think I've found it. Mine was massive and very tasty. Both the red and green salsa were very good and even though there was a bit of a crowd service was fast and friendly. Plus they serve breakfast ALL DAY which is always a huge plus. I was over at Best Buy spending an excessive amount of time getting my computer into the shop for repair when I grew increasingly hungry. I started looking for Chili Relleno ; my all-time favorites that I hadn't had in months. I yelped local places and showed it to the Best Buy agent who happen to be Mexican and said I've never eaten there, that should've been my first red flag. This Best Buy in Montebello is employed by a large number of Latin people and the three I met at the counter couldn't tell me anything about this place. Nonetheless, being super hungry, I decided what the heck I'm gonna go on over there give it a go right what's the worst that could happen?. Upon entering, I quickly noticed that it was a counter service. Will bring your food out to you establishment., no big deal. I'm done with as long as the grub is good.. They were having taco Tuesday and they have cabeza $ Al Pastor Taco option- another two of my favorite. So I ordered the chile Rellano plate with an extra Chile Rellano as well as 2 Cabeza tacos & 1-Al pastor taco , which the plate came with Al pastor Taco. When the food arrived, Tye Chile Rellano looked, and I say respectfully, looked like it was heated in a microwave. It was very clear. The edges were melted into the plate. The chilie Rellano was flat lack that bold flavor that you would think would come from the sauce. The cheese and the chilie Rellano was just stiff. I moved onto the tacos, which I found the tacos to be good, not great good. For me, the overall flavor of what they presented to me lacked that bold authentic Mexican flavor. The white boy that's been in LA for about 25 years and I've been around the taco bar a few times so I know what I'm talking about. I was really disappointed that the individual who brought out the food to myself and other customer sitting there when she walks by my table -she doesn't even say how is everything -which tells me you don't care how I think the food is -the sale is complete. I honestly could not finish this meal. It was $49 and change and I literally walked out.. No, I did not go up to the counter and give them the opportunity to refund and or make it again because having owned my own restaurant and worked in the food industry in my life, this establishment had closing hours at 9 PM. It was 8:30 PM. They were just doing what they had to do to get out of there.. They even told me don't sit on one section of the dining room because they were turning tables up. They were closing and getting the food out as fast as I can so the customers can eat and get out of there and they can go home. I understand I've been there.. But if you want to keep your jobs and the owner wants to keep those doors open, you gotta take that extra step and the extra step was not there so I just got up and left. Keep in mind that this restaurant does close at 8 PM. Our group came around 7:20 PM and there wasn't a lot of people at that time. The staff brought out of orders pretty timely and was friendly. The carne asada torta is my go to mostly every time! The flavors are so well balanced! Fresh and crispy lettuce, perfect tomato, bread is soft, guacamole creamy, thick cheese, tasty beans, and the carne asada is lean and well seasoned! I add the jalapeños to it, and drizzle the red salsa on every bite! We've had their cheese enchilada plate, carne asada burrito, and shrimp fajitas. Portions are good, rice is also delicious. Gave them 4 stars because they start cleaning 30 minutes before closing with a STRONG cleaning spray that overpowers the taste of the food. We were already eating at the table when this happened. Also, 30 minutes before closing you have to order to go, which is probably a good idea since you're eating experience will be ruined with that chemical smell! read more

The menu board has a variety to select from. I ordered the Machaca and egg burrito and chili verde plate. Service was fast and efficient. 4.5/5 Machaca was juicy and very flavorful 3.5/5 Chili Verde was outstanding. The beef was tender and marinated perfectly. I placed the beans, rice, and beef in a flour tortilla and made a burrito. It was scrumptious. 5/5 I definitely will go back and try something else. This was a great find. read more

Went to this restaurant for cheese enchilada for lent. Ordered 2 number 1 (cheese enchilada) and received 2 number 1. The problem is my husband plate was smoking nice and hot. The cheese on the top and inside was cold. Nothing was melted. The beans and the rice warm. We will not go back to a place that the name is El Enchilada, and they can't serve a cheese enchilada. The place was clean and smelled good. It was a little loud so you couldn't hear any of the TVs. They could have added captions so you could at least read what you were watching. Although the cashier girls smiled our service was slow and very nonchalant. We placed our order and everyone who ordered before and after us received their food first. I felt like the food might have been given to us cold on purpose due to us returning the horchata. Some parties had 3-4 guest which included more plates of food yet they still received the food before us. We were literally the last guests to be served. (6 different parties arrived and ordered food after us and they received their food before us) We ordered the Tuesday $1.99 soft taco special. We ordered the tacos with carnitas, al pastor and carne asada. All had no flavor except for some chile and again all cold. We requested no chile and they placed a roasted chile cut in half right on top of the tacos, decorations maybe but we still requested no chile on the plate. We also ordered a quesadilla with carnitas and again cold and greasy and they must have ran out of cheese because it didn't have much cheese, at least not to qualify as a quesadilla. We ordered horchatas and it was literally only rice water. No flavor at all so we had to return it and get a soda but not after getting mad dogged by the cashiers. Ordered the taquitos plate #12. Service was fast. Excited to be back bec i had a good experiencethe first time. Got to go, as the dining room looked like it was shutting down. Styrofoam container. Got it home in five minutes. Taquitos were nicely dressed with mex cheese and sour cream. But they weren't crunchy, kinda soggy, could have used a few more minutes in the deep fryer. You get 4 taquitos, and i was so pleased it possible to get 2 chicken 2 beef, yay. The taquitos look like the store bought frozen kind...I was hoping for homemade ones...and for crunchy-ier! Both the frijoles and the rice were lukewarm, and both a bit stiff, so needed to shovel it onto a plate and give it a few seconds in the microwave. Also my flour tortillas I asked for..alas were missing. But loved the guacamole, it was cold, yay. Plenty of free parking. Maybe it was close to closing time on a Sunday...a lot of the chairs in the dining room were already upended onto tables, so I decided on food to go. read more

first steps in i noticed a nice and a spacious dining area, the menu wasn't too overbearing so i ended up getting the number 1 plate to try it out. service was of standard nothing too much to mention, but the food was the real deal, very yummy and on point. the enchiladas was soft enough where i can cut it with the two chips accompanied with the plate, tomato sauce was a bit plain but no complaints really. the meal was quite filling and of perfect proportions, i do have to say the food looks exactly like the menu which is very impressive given how menu pictures can be quite misleading at other restaurants. my friend got the asada fries and they also looked exactly like the menu. safe to say ill be coming back here. read more
