I've been to this location many times just because it's closer to me than the other one. The STEAK is the only good part. Out of the many times I have gone and turned a blind eye to the bad service because of how much I like the steak here, I will never be back. My last visit here was horrible. Starting from the appetizers didn't know it was soooo hard to make guacamole.... tasted like pure oil. (Mind you the waiter even recommended this lol ) after changing it for a new one it still didn't taste like anything !!! Just oil avocado and one or two scattered tomatoes. The waiter looked annoyed to have to even be dealing with us and took forever to come back and ask if we needed anything or to get the used plates offf the table. The last and best part probably my last straw about this place was how our server had the audacity of writing and adding his own gratuity to the check... after we asked him about it he acted like he didn't know what we were talking about and said it was just suggested and wasn't mandatory but he added it to our total. Very disappointed in what used to be my go-to Argentine restaurant in an area with easy parking. The empanadas tasted like they had been frozen and came out half-baked and half burned. The milanesa came out swimming in grease and half of it was uncuttable even with a steak knife. They've obviously changed from first to second cut of meat. The servers were very pleasant but inattentive. My companion was no happier than I was. It's a shame, but I probably won't be going back. read more

The new owners Valeria and Chef Juan have done an amazing job revamping the menu to this neighborhood jewel. Excellent service and sublime food. I highly recommend the hot seafood antipasto. This has become my new favorite place. The staff is very friendly and the food was delicious. We ordered the Parillada which is basically all different types of grilled meats. It was AMAZING! Came here for the first time lastnight when I was super hungry & I live around the corner. After reading the reviews which was a mixture of good & bad my husband was determined to try it out. I ordered the baked clams & shrimp in garlic sauce. BAD IDEA. Both the clams & shrimp tasted frost bitten as if they just pulled it out the freezer. My husband ordered a steak which was ok after the fact that he ordered his steak medium & got well done which we had to send back. Overall, the sangria was the best thing on the menu. This is the most terrible restaurant experience. It doesn't deserve a single star for its service. The owner/manager told us the wait was 20 mins. Another 20mins passed. He said " you r the next" and yet, after another 20 mins, he seated another party who came after us, who apparently knew the owner/manager. We waited for an hour and half. Finally, we were seated. Water never came until we requested twice. We ordered the food, guess what, we waited for another hour for our food. The waiter kept saying it is coming it is coming. I understand that u were busy, but being inattentive and ignorant is totally not acceptable for servicing industry. The owner/manager was drinking and eating at the bar by the entrance himself. He absolutely realized how long we had waited, instead of approaching us and acknowledging the poor service, he chose to ignore. Finally, our food came. It was way overcooked. And didn't taste good. Came to check it out for the first time, very disappointed. Service not to great, waited so long for everything. They brought us empenadas that we didn't order, took the waitress almost 10 minutes and very confused looks from me and my sister before she took it back to the kitchen and a minute later served it to another table !! So wrong ! I ordered a plate with chorizo, short ribs and skirt steak with a side of french fries, short ribs were mostly fat, fries were oily I guess the best thing was the chorizo. My sister order grilled salmon with some kind of sauce and rice and beans, what she actually got was an oil soaked salmon and no sauce! Sauce was brought later, it was basically a bad version of an Italian tomato sauce, beans were out of a can with all the juices from the can with some onions and peppers, really ?! We didn't want to risk ordering dessert so we skipped that. I guess the best part of the meal was the red sangria we got and the complimentary bread. Clearly won't be coming back. read more

The reason I am giving this place 2 stars is because the food was delicious. Been coming here with family and relatives many times. Love the maracuya con leche juice and love the soups and the grill. However, our recent visit was extremely disappointing! Our parillada grill looked old and dry. It looked as if they had recycled the meat and sausages from leftovers of other customers. Very disappointed. When asked about it, the waiter took it back and we waited so long that we decided to have it packed to go. Once we arrived home, we checked and the obvious difference confirmed our theory. We will not be returning to that restaurant again. read more

From the moment Valeria the owner (and chef's wife) personally seats you at this clean, modern, comfy, nicely furnished new entry to Flushing/Fresh Meadows, you feel welcome. The prices are excellent, a Parrillada Doble for two which is served with its own charcoal mini-grill at your table is HUGE, and has excellent authentic Argentinian Morcilla, Chorizo, Kidneys, and other cuts nicely cooked and arranged for less than $50. They put a comp little snack of Argentinian cheese in a light herbal vinaigrette and warm crusty bread for you while you order. The Wines list is not extensive or expensive, offers a nice selection of Argentinian reds. The house red (tinto) wine is excellent, and a great buy for a full liter carafe.. We chose a selection of baked Argentinian style empanadas and tried a new spinach filled, Nice crust, texture, and flavor, and served hot out of the oven. They are made on-premises. We got the Parrillada Doble, my friends ordered the Churrasco Platter for two, a huge 2-inch tall 32oz piece of shell steak perfectly cooked with sides, and we all feasted. Atmosphere is nice, light Latin music and often tangos in background. Homemade pastas also, but we had no room! Portions are more than generous. Dessert choices were good, ordered Italian Tartufo ice-cream balls, came with fresh raspberry filling (YUM!) Cafe con leche comes decaf or regular, and is a great flavorful blend. Was a nice evening, we had to open our belt and top button, and we all left with big take-home bags. Quality ingredients, atmosphere, service, and good prices makes this a 5-star for this neighborhood, and a worthy challenger to the old-time Elmhurst-JH-Corona parrilladas. read more

I went to this place with my boyfriend and three kids because I've seen it driving. Nothing special! The waiter was pushy and it was a complete turnoff. He told us that half carafe was the same price as two cups of sangria but it wasn't. It was two dollars extra. My boyfriend said the skirt steak was good but a little too thick. My rice with shrimp was was nothing special. It was a bit wet for my liking. The kids ate the empanadas but I think it was more because they were starving. We would not order them again. A plate of plain pasta cost me 13.90. He couldn't even charge us children's price even when we told him all we wanted was a small bowl. Lastly we told him to split one ice-cream between two kids, he said yes. The bill comes and he had charged us twice telling us he brought us two orders. I felt this guy just wanted our money. This place was recently remodeled (Used to be called Puerto Madero). Very well priced, good size dishes. We were a party of 3 adults, had appetizers, 3 combo dishes, two bottles of wine, dessert and coffee and bill came under $180 including taxes and tip. My family and I normally have no issue with this place considering we used to eat here quite often. The server that attended to us was very dismissive of the things we asked of her. As soon as we sat down she tried rushing us to figure out what we wanted. We had to actively tell her that we were going to take our time. Well I'm a pretty frequent diner at the original El Gauchito so I was thrilled to learn that there was one close to home. I am not usually in this particular area so I had no idea it had been there for the past year or so. I knew what to expect pretty much from the place as I always get the same thing. The pitcher of red sangria was delightful. The Grilled provolone cheese was as cheesy as ever. My skirt steak with my side salad was as delicious as always. I did like that the pickled peperoncini also came with a pickled carrot and cauliflower as the more the merrier. I enjoyed everything about it and it was a pleasant surprise to see a waitress from the other location here. It was nice to see a familiar face. This is an Argentine Steakhouse so do yourself a favor and come here for the steak, anything else may be a crap shoot cause it's really about the steak. The other location gets incredibly busy at times so I'm not so sure if that is the case here. I just know that I will get delicious steak and that I may have to wait a while, I also know that it will always be worth it. read more

I come to this restaurant often and I usually have an issue with the service but I normally let it slide because the food is good. I came here today on Mother's Day with 3 people and the hostess took our name and told us the wait was about 20-25 minutes which we didn't mind but they skipped us and put another group that came after us. We had to wait longer to be seated and the hostess once again tried to skip us and put another group that came after us so we had to remind the hostess/waitress that we were first. They finally sat us down and the same hostess/waitress wouldn't even apologize for the mistake and my mom confronted her about the issue and she didn't even say anything and just walked away from my mom while she was speaking to her. She came back to our table to give us the menu and still didn't acknowledge the issue so we got up and left and they didn't even try to do anything. This was the last straw with this place especially since I come here often and spend money there. The customer service is horrible and I was even more upset that they didn't even try to correct the situation. The food is good but it's not worth the headache especially with the rude and incompetent workers. So sad. read more

The food is delicious, one of my favorite dishes is the breaded chicken fillet, with A variety of side dishes. What an experience -_- . So the food was actually good but took a while for it to be ready (close to an hour). Unfortunately the service was terrible. It seems they're are under staffed because the lady who is greeting and sitting us down was also picking up plates and brining food out. I don't really see a big problem until she spilled some steak grease on my jacket because she had some plates from another table and I guess she didn't feel like make two trips to the kitchen so she stopped at our table to pick up some plates as well. When I showed her what happened she just wiped it of with her hand and rushed away making it worse. We ordered sangria and the fruit was fermented already making it taste sour to which they apologized. Overall I think they need work on their service because the plates are far from cheap and you're not only expecting great food but good service should come with that as well read more
