After so many years of living in Northridge, I can't believe I'm just now finding out about this spot! Honestly, it's kind of my partner's fault for not putting me on sooner but I guess all good things come late, so I'm not too mad. Huarache Veloz is a hidden, authentic gem for homestyle Mexican cooking. They offer a variety of Guisados, but what I really came for were the huaraches and they did not disappoint. So good! Their agua de Tamarindo is my favorite. Everything is reasonably priced for the portions you get, and the salsas are spot on. Parking can be a bit tricky since the shopping plaza is on the smaller side, so you might have to get lucky to find a spot. Seating is also limited. read more

Don't let the outside fool you, it's what on the inside that counts. Claudia is the absolute best! She pours her heart and soul into every plate that's served. The sandwiches are so amazing, you get a thin piece of steak laid across a bed of tortilla bread with beans in the middle. Then you sprinkle the cheese with the green salsa and BOOM. " there it is " One of the best huaraches I have ever tasted. I have been working in the area for a few years now and frequent this place. The food is great and fresh made. I normally would've gave it a five star but due to customer service it's horrible!!! I would recommend but just expect these things when you go in haha The lady that's on the register always in a bad mood or has a smart remark to say back to you. Like I had asked nicely if I could get one Salsa verde and she said " ya tiene salsa en tu comida , pero te cobro " . Like are you serious ?? Haha Then there's this you g employee that's usually eating by this table and has this bad starring problem when your making your order or standing on line . Chorizó Huarache is something you must try and you will be forever hooked and greatful. Very clean place and nice people.

I have never had something quite like this. I had a job up in this area and my coworker found this place. All around it, the area is completely run down. Lots of apartment complex and motels around, doesn't always make for a nice neighborhood. We came in, its a small establishment. I got the Huarache estillo D.F. with carne asada. It looked like a very simple meal, yet the taste was spectacular. One of the best meals I've ever had in my life. My coworker said its a traditional Mexican meal, I can't believe there aren't more restaurants that serve this type of food. If this restaurant was closer to home or my work I'd definitely be going here often. This restaurant, such a simple small place, simple plating, but everything is absolutely delicious. I called in for a burrito to go. I was on my way to work and found this spot. It only has 3 tables so More of a spot to take out. They have food set up like Chinese fast food does. The layout at least, just not as much food out as you would think they should. It's in a little square that doesn't have much else Other than a liquor market. My burrito was $7.25. Now I wouldn't say this is the place to go to have a sit down meal, I ALWAYS take out from here. I work just down the street from it so my coworkers and I frequent here. Their huarache is absolutely delicious. The one I usually get is the asada huarache with salsa verde. It fills me up, but I could probably eat 2 of them. The other thing on the menu that I absolutely love is their quesadillas. Now, these aren't your typical quesadillas. These quesadillas are deep fried yuminess in their home made maize dough. My favorite is the cheese and potato one. I'd never imagined potato in a quesadilla, but these are just divine! Great place to get your Huarache fix. If you don't know what a huarache is it's pretty much fried masa with beans inside with your choice of meat or cheese on top coated with a red or green sauce. It's delicious. The fact that it's about a block away from where I work definitely boosts its rating in my book. From what I've seen on the menu the prices aren't too bad and you'll definitely fill up with one of these bad boys. Decor isn't great inside (they may have like 2 or 3 tables max inside) but since I always pick up and take it back to work it doesn't bother me much. read more

Good, fast food. Have only had their huaraches- I devoured that thing! Red salsa is great! HOWEVER... CUSTOMER SERVICE SUCKS!!! Lady at counter very rude. I've ordered about 6-7 times, try to be friendly always but when I ask for extra sauce the lady lectured me about the dish already having enough salsa (shouldn't that be up to the customer???) last time I went I asked again for both the red and green salsas, got lectured and the lady picked which salsa I would get (she chose the red for me). We found this place the other day as we were waiting for our customer to load our freight on the truck. This place was amazing! The food tasted great. This was the best authentic Mexican food I have tasted in at least 20 years. The only place that come close is Abuleos in the Dallas TX, area. Anyway, this small mom and pop establishment serves food that wakes up every part of your taste bud pallet. The the corn tortilla--I have never tasted such freshness and flavor--good enough to each by themselves. The pento beans, scrambled eggs, green peppers, onions with some kind of seasoning were just fabulous! I only hope we have an opportunity to visit another one of these restaurants to see if the taste is consistent across all of their restaurants read more
