Sure wish I could leave 0 stars for this dump. Went here Friday 7-1-22 with my family. Arrived at 4:45pm. Finally we're acknowledged after 10 minutes and a booth was cleared. We were seated at 5pm. Drinks took forever. Chips and salsa were never replenished unlike the other guests. 45 minutes passed and we started noticing 4 other couples/families that were seated well after us were already eating. 6:11pm rolls around and we get our food. 2 meals were kid's meals and my wife ordered chicken enchiladas and I ordered beef nachos....wtf took so long. My son starts eating and noticed something black in his meal and showed me. Sure enough bugs in his food. Manager never would come talk to me and the server removed the $5 kids meal from the bill. Nothing else for the fact that he didn't place our order after taking it. Never will we return. Place takes advantage of all the drunks from lake of the four seasons and could careless how they serve sober people. read more

This is my go to Mexican restaurant in Winfield. Friendly service, and the food is always very good. Taco Tuesdays are perfect for sampling tacos of every meat or seafood they offer. "This place had more of an open concept feel, which I didn't care for. The first impression for me wasn't too great, but I don't judge things by their cover, so I continued to be seated in hopes that I'd be surprised. My girlfriend and I got the Lime Margarita On The Rocks. It was on the average side with a decent taste of lime. They should have enhanced the lime flavor a bit more for a classic Margarita taste. We also got a shot of the El Jimador Tequila and woah, it was strong! I'm glad we shared it. It had almost a clear complexion and I'd consider it top shelf. We ordered a Small Guacamole and the Jimador Special, which included Skirt Steak, Chicken, and Shrimp. The Guacamole was not good. It had a paste-like taste and had no enhancement of any flavor, such as vegetables or even lime. The Skirt Steak was average, the chicken was average, and you guessed it, the shrimp was also average. There was nothing special about the flavors of these items. It came with rice and beans. The rice had cheap flavor as if it was microwaved. We didn't get lettuce and we had one sliced piece of a sad excuse for a tomato. Usually with a Fajita type meal or having a House Special type of dinner, you'll get lettuce, sour cream, tomatoes, pico de gallo, and even guacamole most of the time. This wasn't the case here. When we got the bill, they tried to charge us a hidden fee for our sour cream. We let our waitress know about the hidden fee on the bill. She tried to scam us. She refused to take it off and resulted in calling the police, since we refused to be scammed and pay for the hidden fee. The police arrived and we went back and forth about this fee that they tried to hit us with, for I'd say, about half an hour. It's wild how they get to make up their own hidden fee when it comes time for the bill. Apparently, they changed the menus. They had a different menu up front than the one we were given. It's funny how they had it handy up front as if they were waiting for people to challenge them. Who knows, this may be something they try to do with every table. It's truly pathetic that a business would want to argue over something so small, especially given the fact that they could be destroying future business with myself or even new business from other patrons. If it were my restaurant, I'd apologize to my guests and state there must have been a mistake, take the charge off, and express gratitude towards them for the inconvenience. Why would someone want to risk a potential, future visit for another 50 dollars? It blows my mind how there can be cockiness and unprofessionalism in the food business like this. Her justification was that it was just an extra dollar. Yes, it's a dollar that you're trying to steal from me. A dollar may not be a lot, but the concept of theft doesn't sit right with me and I'll fight until the end about it. If it were a penny, I'd still question the hidden fee. If they're doing this to every table or even every few tables, they're making quite a bit of extra money daily off of this scam. My girlfriend even has bad anxiety on top of it all, so the bickering of the argument and the police being around triggered an attack. After the event, we had to have an ambulance called for her panic attack. It's unfortunate that we had to try a restaurant and it result in us getting legal help for an attorney to open a case for this event. Overall, there food wasn't worth another visit, beyond what happened afterwards. I would check your bill if you give them a try and definitely do not blindly pay the bill. I recommend that everyone in the country steers far away as they have no decency or customer service." requoting my husband as this is a fact. Service has been absolutely horrible on multiple occasions but we decided to give them one more chance on above quoted experience. Last time. Absolutely and incredibly rude and disrespectful. The waitress even mentioned to me how she is going to make sure she finds me and whoop my (I'm not going to say this word because it is so unprofessional). That is what triggered my panic attack. She told me she would follow me home and make sure I learned about not paying. I still to this day do not know what she meant but I am still absolutely terrified. This restaurant was pretty good being in a strip mall. I'm giving it only 3 stars because when we walked it we saw nothing but dirty tables and 1 employee. We decide to eat at the bar. We eat here weekly. Sometimes I dine in, sometimes carry out. If they ever started delivering I would be in big trouble cause I ask for a chimichanga more days than I actually get to eat a chimichanga. Speaking of chimichangas, get a beef one here with queso on top! It's easily my favorite dinner. Their carnitas are incredible, they are always so nice to my family and accommodating of my kids. But I went in one night with my girlfriend and we got food that wasn't fresh and had a hair on it and to top it off the whole place just didn't seem too clean... so great. This place has been open for a few weeks (to my knowledge at least) and I've eaten here a few times already. So, first let me start by saying the interior of the restaurant is nice and clean. It has plenty of booths, several tables in the middle, and you can sit closer to the cooking area where you have stools or where you would go to wait for a pick-up. The service was good, the turnaround on the food was pretty quick and most importantly, the food was also pretty good. I had no issues at all and the prices are very fair. If you live in Winfield or in LOFS...there is no need for you to drive to Merrillville anymore for Mexican food. read more

Probably safe to say this is my favorite Mexican food place. We order from here all the time over the last couple of years. My favorite items are the carne asada tacos and the Chile rellanos (soo good!) Hubby often gets the Gordo burrito with lengua. The only issues we have ever had hasn't been with the food,but with items being forgotten in our take out order like tortillas or some side item like guacamole. Other than that we love it. Found hair in my steak tostada and asked one Of the kids with curly hair to speak to his manager he said he doesn't work in the kitchen so there is nothing he can do about it, after saying that he said I guess I can go and get my manager. Young man with curly haired lady returned to ask if I ate my food I replied most of it he replied then there is nothing we can do about it and zoomed off fastly. I have been to this restaurant many, many times and have ordered take out many, many times. Tonight I called to place an order on my way home and got a girl on the phone and when I told her what I wanted, I could not understand anything she was saying. I didn't know if the item was unavailable or what. She had a very strong Hispanic accent, but that was not the reason I could not understand her. She spoke so fast it was impossible to understand. I finally said I didn't understand anything you said and she says "call back maybe you will get someone else" and hangs up. I was floored, I wasn't rude, all I wanted to do was place an order. So I call back and she answers. I said didn't I just talk to you and she says "yes" and I asked to speak to the manager. She starts raving on again so fast I do not know what she was saying about her manager. She then hangs up yet again. So I stop there on my way home and talk to the manager, who really could have cared less. He said she put him on the phone and I wasn't on the line. I said because she hung up on me again. He says he doesn't know who it was, I told him she had a strong accent and he says with a smirk, we all do. I had no problem understanding him! He says, so what do you want me to do? As a manager, you would think he would have at least apologized and said he would speak to the people that answer the phone. I know I can't be the only one that has been treated like this. I realize they are very busy on Friday night, all she had to do was be polite. Anyway, not that they will care, but they have lost my business. Lots of restaurants have good food. read more
