This is one of my husband's childhood favorites, and it holds up. I've been here before, but haven't reviewed it. When we went recently I ordered the enchiladas chicanos, two chicken, one cheese. It was so darn good. And I almost didn't get the cheese option, but that would have been a mistake. The cheese enchilada was probably the best I've had, if not in a long while. Havent been here in a while, but it's in COLORADO, not illinois. The map is wrong, the street, as listed, doesnt yet exist in google maps. The closest I could come up with is 850 e valley road. Regardless, the restaurant is very good. The decor is nice. The food is very good. The last time I was there in 2011, they were busy and still had time to pay attention to our young child. My friends and I were told to head to El Korita after our favorite mexican place in the area had closed a few years prior and we had returned to vacation. We love this shopping center area and were optimistic about the food. Since we went for lunch, I ordered the chicken enchiladas with red sauce, rice and brown beans. The enchiladas lacked serious flavor and the sauce did not provide any type of kick that I was hoping for. The chicken, while cooked through, also didn't taste that great. The beans and rice seemed like your typical mexican restaurant spot sides - nothing to ride home about. The chips and salsa were yummy, which made up for me not loving my entrée. I don't know if i'd return, but it was worth a shot to try it. read more

We stopped on the way from Grand Junction to Snowmass. My brother has eaten here several times. We shared the ceviche appetizer. We are used to Peruvian ceviche and this was different - and VERY good. It was a nice size portion too. Then we shared an enchilada which was very good. There was plenty for both of us (we actually left a little). The salsa which was served upon seating was a bit too spicy for me (I don't like spicy foods). Overall I found the food to be fresh, pentiful and very good. I read in several reviews that the service was slow and didn't find this to be the case at all. I am from the Coastal Bend in South Texas, (and hispanic) so I know what good Mexican food and Seafood is. I've got to give this restaurant credit for being very delicious and being in Colorado! I had the hot seafood stuffed pineapple and it was AMAZING! A lot of other restaurants that I had while I was up north left me disappointed, but this exceeded my expectations. If zero stars was an option.... Wow- just horrible. The only thing good was the salsa. The chips were stale, tostada soggy, taco salad barely had lettuce to call itself a salad, the taquitos were dried out and flavorless. Not to mention service was so slow.... If you are Latino/ Hispanic or a POC do not come here! The service is downright terrible the waiters/waitresses don't even come to your table until like an hour later after you've been seated and then they take another 30-45 minutes to even bring your drinks out. Also when they do take your order it's an even longer wait to get your food you'll see other tables (usually where white families are sitting) get their food before you even though you've been there for 1-2 hours already. Not to mention they expect you to tip so even if their service was horrible they include a 20% tip on the bill. I remember one night i went with my family for a birthday dinner and we were there for a few hours bc they didn't bring out our food together yet they still included the tip on the bill. Again if you are Latino/Hispanic or a POC don't come here they are prejudice against their own people while they put all their attention on the white families. You will be waiting for hours just to get someone to come check on you and your family or friends. read more

Everything was fantastic, and after we compared El Korita's menu and prices to those of La Palapa's in Aspen, we discovered that the menu was almost identical (more of a selection and more seafood at El Korita) but the prices were, on average, at least 40% more at La Palapa. There is no doubt in my mind that the quality of the food, atmosphere, and service of El Korita surpasses that of any other place in the area. You will not be disappointed! read more

Great food but a bit loud. I would not go here for an intimate time, at least during the peak hours. There was a wait of about 20 minutes and they did have overflow outside. The food took about 30 minutes to be served which we did not mind because the company was entertaining. Lupe is the best! She really knows how to run a restaurant and keep her patrons happy. You could look at the menu for 15 minutes and not see it all, a plus and a negative depending. El Korita was pretty good on previous visits. Outright delicious! That was in the past tense though. Went the other day though and ordered the carnitas plate. Dry as a bone. Almost like Pork Jerky! I have been here several times in the past month and on each occasion (different weekdays and times) it has taken nearly an hour for the food to arrive. The affordability of this restaurant combined with its large portions, use of fresh ingredients, and great service made for a pleasant experience. When I walked through the door, I was eagerly greeted and promptly shown to a table. I had complimentary chips and salsa. I ordered the molcajete which was super fresh and full of flavor. For a non-alcoholic drink, I had the horchata which was refreshing, particularly on this warm day. Depending on how adventurous you are feeling, I would recommend horchata or jamaica. These traditional drinks are both tasty and delicious! If you have any room left for dessert, there are several options. The fried ice cream was fantastic and left my stomach more than satisfied. The service was very prompt and friendly. The ambiance is warm and welcoming, much like being in your grandmother's house. Overall, I give this restaurant a five star rating. If you're looking for quality Mexican food without breaking the bank, El Korita is definitely the place to go! read more

Absolutely love this place! I lived in Texas for 20+ years and believe me when I say I know my Mexican food! Chips are great. Not to thick but not to thin either. Salsa is always fresh. The fajitas are a staple for me..get them every time. They are great. Portion sizes are great. Lots of mixed veggies and meat. Only complaint is sometimes they put to much oil but nonetheless.. wonderful!! Overall El Korotas is up on my top 5 list of mexican food places. Longest I have ever had to wait was 10 min.(during off season). Haven't been during winter yet but that will change soon. Servers are great and friendly especially if you know Spanish. read more
