Absolutely horrible service. We have tried to support El Korita a few times over the years, but they have the absolute worst service. We regularly have to hunt servers down for anything we need (water, napkins, menus, check, etc.). Never saw our server again after he took our order. An expensive tourist trap. I've been warned about the waits here, but they also said it's worth it. We arrived on a Sunday night around 6pm and were 4th on the wait list which equated to about a 20 minute wait which is far shorter than what I was to expect. The menu is a bit much to take in, but if looking for lots of options then the menu here is exactly that. We started wth the medium shrimp cocktail which was average, decent amount of shrimp though. For entrees we ordered the kebab combo, Steak, and korita combo. Everything was delicious. Service was great! read more

I came in on a Wednesday around 2PM. There were other patrons enjoying their meals when I arrived. I chose a booth and chips were already on the table (my only tip would be to bring chips fresh upon guests seating). The hostess brought salsa and I asked for the extra spicy salsa which was promptly brought out. (75 cents extra but so worth it- SO SPICY! I recommend mixing both salsas if you like it HOTTTT) I ordered cheese enchiladas and they were probably the best enchiladas I've ever had. Granted, I'm from Florida and we just don't have good Mexican food. I'm happy I'm here in CO now & have El Korita to look forward to! The place in the valley for Mexican seafood. El Korita has all the standard Mexican plates you expect, and some decent vegetarian offerings, but really shines in seafood dishes like the ceviche, or aguachile. There is a pretty extensive menu, but they are happy to modify dishes. This is a local's favorite, and dinners are almost always busy, summer and winter seasons. Come early, before 6:00 or after 7:30, or list your name and park at the bar with a perfect margarita with hornitos. read more

Great food. We probably stop here three to four times a month. Food is always great. Sergio does great at serving us. Yes there is a wait sometimes, but is well worth it when you get your meal. Good, authentic Mexican with a focus on seafood. El Korita is a popular place, and deservedly so. It boasts a large menu of fresh, authentic Mexican dishes, and the focus on healthy seafood distinguishes it from other places. Atmosphere is festive and casual, and the interior features a unique decor, brightly colored with lots of seating. Pricing is very reasonable. We started with complimentary chips (house-made, very fresh and crisp) and salsa. Then it was on to the aguachile ceviche tostada, a ceviche featuring shrimp, lime, onion and tomato, served on (you guessed it) a tostada. Very fresh and good. They actually have quite a few different ceviches on the menu, so if that's something you enjoy, this is your place. For my entree I went with shrimp and fish tacos, which were bargains at $3.50 apiece. I really loved the shrimp tacos, which were quite generously filled. Would definitely order those again. The fish taco was also good, but I'd say I liked the shrimp ones better. The only disappointment was my margarita. I ordered the Don Julio, and was surprised when it was served not up, but rather on the rocks (I guess I should have specified up). The flavor was OK, but heavy on the lime, not as well-balanced as the best ones I've had other places, and not worth the $12 I paid. Protip: go early. We went for dinner at 5:00 pm on a Sunday, and even then the dining area was full. When we left at 6:30 pm, there was a large group of people waiting for tables. read more

Delicious. I stay in Aspen about 4 weeks each summer. This is a first time one of the locals suggested this place. I was skeptical having come from Los Angeles and the Florida. We were pleasantly surprised. Although service was slightly slow, everyone was nice, the food was outstanding and the margaritas were delicious! Nothing was too over priced, which was nice. We stayed for quite awhile and enjoyed he chips and salsa, enchiladas and tostada salad. We will definitely be back!! read more

An ok place for Mexican food. Service was very slow even though we were there at a non peak time. Waiter was friendly enough but it seemed like the other staff would rather be somewhere else. I had the carnitas which was very dry!! I liked that it was served with white rice and cilantro (along with regular rice and beans) but I couldn't add enough sauce, salsa, etc. to overcome the dryness. My boyfriend had the steak ranchero. This was ok too but lathered the steak in spices - are they trying to hide the meat? There needs to be a good balance of spices. Not sure I would visit this place again read more

Wow...thirty years in Colorado and finally some classy Mexican food served by people proud of their heritage and delighted to share it with us gringos. I had a whole red snapper with seafood stuffing that was like what you see the people who know better order and it was delicious...delicious to the max! My wife had an enchilada and tamale that were as good as any I have tasted in 50 years...and I eat this sort of food a couple times a week. Such a yummy place to eat. We were visiting some friends in Carbondale and they recommended this place. The food and the ambiance was really authentic. The only reason I didn't give five stars was because the service was REALLY slow. I feel like they needed a couple more people helping out with waitressing. I wasn't aware of this when I visited this place, but Latino restaurants that are not Americanized are very slow with their service. Dining is an experience & not something that is rushed. With that said, be prepared. When the restaurant wasn't busy, we were there for 2 hours (no dessert). The food, however, is great! I've only eaten the vegetarian dishes, but the fajitas were by far the best. The margaritas are also quite superb. They're not as large as those at the Rio, but they're just as strong. read more

Visited Basalt for a week w/my wife and she wanted Mexican, we stopped in and it was AMAZING!!

We had high hopes for this place, but we're let down unfortunately. We were told our table would be just a minute or two. We ended up waiting about 10 minutes and then a family walked in and were shown right to an open table. The servers all look confused and came up to us and apologized that our table had been given away. We were finally seated after another 5 minutes or so and placed our food order rather quickly. It took exactly 28 minutes for our food to come out. Overall, poor customer service and just an unacceptable amount of time to wait for food that's coming out of a casual restaurant. read more

The restaurant has an eclectic decor. When we walked in at 9:30 pm there was no host so we sat at the bar. Both bartenders were friendly. They have an extensive collection of Mezcal and tequila. You can order some of the drinks with your choice of Mezcal and tequila.They use fresh ingredients. The portions of the appetizers and entrees are huge. The tacos don't come with hand-made tortillas. I was disappointed in the food here. It's a bad sign when the salsa is bland. My chili relleno had a velveta cheese spread over it instead of green chili that had no flavor at all. The relleno was completely tasteless. The shrimp enchilada was cold. Dessert was flan which came with whipped cream and a maraschino cherry (I'd never seen that before). Awesome food but poor experience The bartender forgot to ring in our order so we were sitting there for 40 min. After she apologized and rang it in, the manager even came to the table to try to offer a good service or to show that they cared that we were just sitting waiting for our order that wasnt put it in the computer. The horrible service cant even make up for the food or the price, Id rather pay more and have a good experience than sit and feel the servers' attitude as if they were doing me a favor. I went there again on july 12th 2017 Me and my friend chose to go there because it is in a convenient location. We got there at 9:20 and ordered drinks and an appetizer, and we let our server know that after the appetizer we would decide on an entree. After that some other serve came to check on us two times but just asked if "everything was ok". When our server finally came back, we were more than ready to order more food, but she told us that the kitchen had already closed. We told her that they could have let us know im advance, and the kitchen staff was nice enough to do one dish for us. After that, they turned it on a very loud music and started cleaning, meanwhile me and my friend were ready to order another drink. We had to wait for the server to show up about 10-15 min and when we ordered the drinks she let us know that the bar was closed as well. Overall was a very disappointing experience, showing the lack of training of the staff and management, who didnt do anything to help us. The server has to let the customer know when the kitchen and the bar are about to close, and if the restaurant is also closed, they have to bring us the check instead of let us hanging in there thirsty and hungry. When we complained to the manager, she said "it was their most popular dish and we must just not like the way they cooked them". She refused to do anything for us. This place is awesome! It's simple and authentic, and does not break the bank. Their drinks are well priced, and well made, and they don't skimp out on the alcohol to save money. They have a strong variety of both drinks and menu items, but they menu doesn't feel crowded at all. It's really easy to pick what you want because of how the menu was built. The graphic design of the menu could improve a little bit (Comic Sans, really?), but all in all the food and drink here is great! The only downfall is the service is a little sluggish, and sometimes feels a tad understaffed. Other than speed of service, the staff is really friendly and really are doing the best that they can. This place has 4 stars? I can only attribute that to the fact that people in Mountain towns must have no idea what real Mexican food is. When you walk in the ambiance is nice and there is typically a wait I have heard. We waited for 5 minutes and were sat. The TRUE wait came when our server came for a drink order, and disappeared for 10 minutes. Then brought the wrong drinks. Then the waitress practiced her best Houdini impression again for 10 minutes. We ordered chicken enchiladas and the tortillas were cold and spongy. There was hardly any chicken inside of the tortillas. Wow, only 3 reviews for this place so far? I'm surprised. This place was great. They were packed even on the early side on a Friday night, but we just had a short wait. (We were told they don't take reservations). I couldn't help but notice the two restaurants up the side walk looked pretty empty compared to La Korita, even their outdoor tables and this was on a beautiful fall evening. The food was excellent. Large selection on the menu. Lots of seafood choices. While we munched on chips and excellent salsa, I asked my sister and her son, who are regulars here for suggestions for what was good and they had a hard time narrowing it down - it was all good. I ended up getting a combo plate - chili relleno, shrimp taco and a tostadita all served with rice and beans. When the plates came I couldn't believe the size of them. So much food and it was all excellent. The chili relleno was spicy, saucy and not too doughy (chili rellenos are one dish it seems restaurants back east just can't get right!). The shrimp tacos were seasoned nicely and the shrimp tasted very fresh. They were served in a soft flour tortilla. The beef tostadita was excellent as well and the small size was excellent for a combo plate. The refried beans were really tasty too. Its nice when the beans are as good as the rest of the meal and just just an after thought. Oh and the house margaritas were good and strong - wow, one margarita and I was feeling it! I'm glad my sister warned me about them, I usually get two back home, but here I barely finished the one. Excellent place for Mexican food! read more

We received very good service although I would have to say that towards the end of the meal, as people are lining up by the door for a seating, I felt rushed and they wanted us out. My friends and I were told to head to El Korita after our favorite mexican place in the area had closed a few years prior and we had returned to vacation. We love this shopping center area and were optimistic about the food. Since we went for lunch, I ordered the chicken enchiladas with red sauce, rice and brown beans. The enchiladas lacked serious flavor and the sauce did not provide any type of kick that I was hoping for. The chicken, while cooked through, also didn't taste that great. The beans and rice seemed like your typical mexican restaurant spot sides - nothing to ride home about. The chips and salsa were yummy, which made up for me not loving my entrée. The Seafood Molcajete was possibly the best Mexican food I've ever had. I'm a California girl raised on and addicted to Mexican food so you need to take me seriously on this one.
