    Barbacoa Tamale??

As a long time Tmaz fan I was super excited when I came home to find that there's a second (and closer!) location. But I think I will order at the other location in the future. Food was ok... but nothing like how I remember from the other spot: * Tacos were good. (I'm gonna start positive) * Front room kinda smells smokey but that's not their fault, but unsure I'd sit down here. * Took 15 minutes longer than they said on the phone. * Pozole seemed a bit water down. * Barbacoa tamale.. seemed less like shredded beef and more like flavorless bean paste (unsure if this was a swap up or what) but I couldn't eat more than a bite. * Enchiladas were bland and super dilapidated (it wasn't wet because it was soaked in sauce.. just moist tortilla and bland). * Churros were dry (I watched them sit on the grill) and thus hardly any cinnamon sugar stuck to it. (Also someone told me it should come when chocolate sauce, but there wasn't any so maybe thats a misunderstanding?) TLDR: I will be ordering from the location, probably not here again.

Carnitas taco and sides of beans and rice!

I cannot express how delighted I am to have Tmaz open a second location close to home on the west side of Ann Arbor!!! There is something magically different about the tortilla flavor and texture of their tacos that is superior to the other taco options on the west side. Delicious tacos, friendly staff, and for $25 you can feed your whole family dinner. Awesome!!!

I read about this new place in the recent February 2021 Ann Arbor Observer. None of us wanted to cook this evening, and this place is close by, so it was the perfect chance to give it a whirl. Online ordering was a bit unsettled, but the owner assured me later at the shop that he's working on getting it cleaned up. It impressed me as just growing pains. There are lots of traditional choices of fillings for the usual assortment of Mexican classics. We look forward to the addition of burritos, which seemed to be the only thing they're not yet offering. We ordered gorditas and quesadillas al pastor, as well as a potato flauta, tostadas al pastor, and a side of guac. Our order was 100% accurate and carefully assembled. Everything was fresh. The al pastor flavor was reasonably good, though I felt the food could have used a bit more seasoning all around (not more salt, which was well balanced, but more spice). The guac was a bit heavy on the raw onion - a little too much for us - but was nicely spicy and fresh. Tostadas turned out to not transport well. 15 minutes after leaving the shop, the fried tortillas had not much crunch left. The gorditas were quite generously sized. One might be enough for you. Two would almost certainly be plenty for most. The salsa sides were quite good (spicy red, milder salsa verde) and the sour cream was really outstanding (they might even make it themselves, it was that good). Oh, and they comped us some tasty chips, which was kind. The three-entree meal was easily enough for a couple of meals for us, so the reasonable prices became even more reasonable on a per-serving basis. The store itself was very attractive and clean and three staff were busy pulling together orders for a steady stream of customers when I was in on a Saturday evening. Pandemic protocols were clearly enforced and it was plain that they care about their customers. Customer service was excellent. Overall, the food was solid, a bit of a cross between Mexican and TexMex, which they pull off well. Our favorite from this order was probably the quesadillas. We'll dig into some tacos next time and work our way through the menu from there. We wish them well and plan to return!

Excellent food! Both locations are great but I like this one just a little more than the Packard rd location. Great service too!

Well-prepared and high quality ingredients - owners/staff are very conscientious. This is our favorite Mexican takeout choice.

Take a seat anywhere you like; we chose to sit at the bar. This is a well-equipped bar for such a casual setting: Dos Equis, Modelo, Bell's, and Sierra Rose hard cider. Waaaaay better than Chi-Chis (and any real Mexican restaurant I can think of, too). And, my wife ordered a margarita, and she loved it. Best of all, the price was very reasonable: $17 after tip for the margarita and a large Dos Equis. Food orders are placed at a separate counter, and they are ready quickly. A single fish taco is a good size, and only costs $4.75. The daily special is $10.29, and includes two tacos, rice, and beans, with a small up charge for the fish tacos. I feel like I've traveled back in time to the last century with these prices. The fish tacos are outstanding. The fish is freshly prepared, and not fried. You will want to get more than one to make it a meal, and the rice and beans in the combo are a nice complement. The rice could have used more seasoning, but this is easily corrected by mixing in some salsa. This is truly a wonderful find.

I'm big on ordering enough for multiple meals so I went with the nachos and a kid's steak quesadilla and got 3 meals out of the deal! The kid's portion came with two mini quesadillas and a side of rice and they were definitely generous with the steak portions! They had hearty chunks of steak, perfectly cooked and seasoned, surrounded by a nice melty cheese. Really tasty! For my nachos I went with the carnitas though I think they may have accidentally given me the al pastor as I bit into more than a few chunks of pineapple, which honestly was not my favorite when blended with the other elements of the nachos. I'd definitely get them again but I think I'd pick a different protein just in case. Probably the steak since it was so good in the quesadillas. I went through less than half of the nachos since they were a huge portion and tucked away the rest in the fridge for the next day. Sure, nachos don't always reheat great but I tossed mine under the broiler to crisp everything back up and then added some fresh chips on the side and it was perfect. I still had a few leftovers even after that and took the rest of it and added an egg on top for a makeshift chilaquiles dish! Pretty good! My one regret was not trying the churros but I'll definitely be doing that the next time!

A small taco shop in a nondescript strip mall, Miny's is turning out some seriously impressive and authentic tacos on par with places I love in Southern California. My friends and I swung by around dinnertime and while it was not crowded, there was a steady flow of customers and take-out orders. There is no dining area, but there are tables outside where one can sit and eat. I ordered 3 tacos: al pastor, cabeza, and Cameron, with spicy salsas on the side. The total was about ~$13. The first thing that stood out to me was the size. These were some hefty tacos, lovingly double-wrapped in pliable, warm, corn tortillas and neatly packaged for takeout. Salsa can be hit or miss but the salsas here were SO GOOD. Made in-house, they add the perfect moisture and flavor to each bite. Their green salsa has a mild, tingling kick, and tastes very rich and refreshing. The orange creamy salsa, however, stole the show. It is spicier than the green, and has a super addicting smokiness that enhances, but doesn't overpower, every bite. I was bright red and sweating but could not put this salsa down. The al pastor taco was my favorite. Sweet, soft, smoky pork with the crunch and freshness of onions and cilantro, drenched in the above salsas, simply divine! I wish it had come with pineapple for a pop of sweetness, but it was still a super good taco. I was thrilled to see that Miny's offered cabeza and lengua, as they are cuts of meat less familiar to the average American diner. I opted for cabeza and was greeted with a pile of soft, collagen-rich meat, bursting with juice and oil. The meat by itself is definitely a bit bland so the salsas did the heavy lifting in terms of flavor. The gooey-soft texture though, that was all due to the perfectly cooked meat. This was a pricier taco than the Al pastor, and there was definitely a bit less meat than in the Al pastor, but still a very good taco. The shrimp taco impressed me the least. The shrimp were unseasoned and looked to be boiled. While bouncy and tender cooked in this way, I prefer the char and juiciness of grilled shrimp in my tacos. In addition, I tend to expect my seafood tacos to have a slaw on them, versus the standard onions and cilantro. With the salsas, this taco was fine, but I would not order it another time. A very healthy but uninspired taco. Overall, for where it's located and what it is, Miny's does some amazing tacos, though I will probably skip the seafood ones next time. I will be DREAMING of that orange salsa, and now understand why on their menu, they sell it by the carton.
