I've been here twice now and it's has constantly been a dependable Mexican restaurant. Is the food outstanding or brag worthy? No - Some of the food I'd order again. - Portion size of meal is definitely not small - Price of food is not bad especially for the amount of food. - What my wife and I had, - - Chips and salsa (complimentary) - - A LITTLE OF EVERYTHING Bean tostada with guacamole salad, chile relleno, beef taco, enchilada, tamale, rice, and refried beans. (Definitely overwhelming would have been too much food if we weren't sharing). - - QUESADILLA MEXICANA Large quesadilla stuffed with beans, cheese, and your choice of chicken, chorizo, beef tips, or mushrooms. Served with guacamole, lettuce, tomato, and sour cream.( Definitely plenty of food but shared with the wifey) Are the drinks yummy? Yes - - Jumbo size Lime Margarita - - Mixed Berry Signature Margarita Is the hospitality constantly good? Yes - They're quick with serving and attentive to their customers. The ambiance is typical suburban Mexican restaurant with no special feel. However, I'd definitely would try their patio seating in the summertime.

This new restaurant was off to a good start during my dine-in lunch visit. I enjoyed the professional, polite, attentive staff, the short wait times, the clean but somewhat spartan atmosphere, the tasty food, the good portions, and the good prices. My #4 lunch burrito ($7.25) was served just five minutes after I ordered at the table, which gave me time to work on the complimentary chips and salsa. The burrito was packed full of shredded white chicken with no rice filler (nice) and topped with my choice of sauces, while the good portions of Spanish rice and refried beans were nice and flavorful. I also noticed three hot sauces at the table to spice things up. I liked the spacious, divided dining areas with upbeat Mexican background music (not too loud), several TVs (off), and a full bar. Very nice overall, and a good lunch value.

El Maguey, Whyyyyy? Upon Walking In We Noticed The Restaurant Was Hustling And Bustling For A Friday Night This Was Absolutely Fine! We Waited To Be Greeted And Were Seated Quickly. My Husband And I Had Our Eye On The Margarita Flight (Pictured) We Selected 4 Flavors And Were Surprised That The Flight Was Not As Pictured And The Size Of Shot Glasses. This Was Disappointing But My Husband And I Just Looked At The Positive, At Least We Got To Try A Few Flavors. The Margs Were Very Good!! We Ordered The El Toriado, Fajita Mix And Queso Fundido. Our Queso Was Forgotten And Our Entrees Came Out. I Reminded The Server About The Queso And This Was Quickly And Kindly Addressed. Our Food Per Usual Was Hot And Enjoyable But Noticeably Less Seasoned Than Any Other Time. It Was Hard To Catch The Server To Order Anything Else But Once My Husband Was Finally To Catch Him, He Ordered Another Marg To Remedy The Flight Fiasco And Was Happy. I Loved The Casual Vibe, Impeccable Service With High Quality Food From El Maguey In The Past However Now, I Can Tell The Volume Has Affected The Service And The Quality For Food. I'll Continue To Enjoy El Maguey But Via Delivery Apps As I Don't Think I'll Return In Person.

Went here because I was craving enchiladas and we were in the area. The reviews were decent so I had my reservations, but everything was delicious! The place was clean and I liked the decor. The margaritas were very good and they had a ton of flavors. I ordered the enchiladas verdes and the sauce was amazing! Definitely had a kick to it. The chicken was perfect and juicy. I am excited to come back and try more of their menu because they really had a lot of options.

Fish taco plate & rice & beans (no bueno)

Alright pals, this place was a huge let down. $12 for this fish taco plate...I've never had minced fish tacos, & I will always ask about this in the future at other restaurants. These were by far the worst, driest fish tacos I've ever eaten. I thought they were shredded chicken tacos when they were brought to the table. They tasted cold and bland. I asked for limes to add a little flavor and they gave me the wimpiest limes I've seen in a hot minute. Guys, nothing about this plate was good. I was so excited to try this place, but when me and my friend both got bland, "naked" tacos & left half our meals on our plates...you know it's not great. The chips were pretty thick. They were decent when they came out warm & the salsa wasn't terrible. (Our orders took 45 min to get to us which was why the chips and salsa were demolished.) I'm just really sad to say that I can no longer say, "I've never met a taco I didn't like."

1st time in and nothing to complain about. Taco Tuesday was choice of 3 tacos for $5.99. I had two ground beef and one chicken. The chicken had good flavor but the ground beef was maybe some of the most flavorful GB tacos I've had in KC Metro. And the cheese (a lot) they put on the tacos is delicious. Free chips and salsa was a pleasant surprise because there was actually some heat in their salsa with great flavor. Chips a little on the thick side which just made me use more salsa. We also shared an order of bean/cheese nachos with jalapenos. Very good as well. Great first time and definitely won't be our last.

A staff member, for lack of a better word, gave me the cold shoulder and said the kitchen was closed. My wife was still interested in getting some tacos, so I thought about where to go. This place came to mind. We had been there before and had a good experience, and when we got here, there were maybe about 15 minutes before the kitchen closed. I believe the person who said to us was also the manager, a really nice lady. She let us know that the kitchen was closing in about 15 minutes, but we were more than welcome to order and we'd be taken care of. Sure enough, we got a nice seat, good ambience, and a great waiter. They got us a seat, gave us some recommendations on the menu. I ended up ordering the Steak Quesadilla along with the complimentary chips and salsa with the three different types of salsa that they have. Came with that. My wife ended up ordering the Soft Shell Crab Tacos. I'll give the quesadilla a 4 out of 5. Great steak flavor, had some other grilled vegetables on the inside. Not as much cheese as I would like, but it had great flavor. The guacamole that came with it was pretty good. I loved the green salsa that came with the trio of salsas. I'm going to say it's tomatillo. I didn't ask. I'm not sure, but it tasted great. Good portion size, really good waitstaff. He took care of us. I was pleasantly taken care of on my side. My wife had the soft-shell crab tacos, nice and fresh, really big portion. She liked my quesadilla, so she went ahead and ordered her a plate of those as well. She only had about half the quesadilla portion. She had to take the other half to go. She did get a pineapple margarita, which she really enjoyed. She finished that completely. We really enjoyed the ambience of the restaurant. It was nice, and I enjoyed myself. The soft-shell crab was a four out of five for the taco. She was a little thrown by the fact that the shell was still on it, which was a whole thing that she laughed with the waiter about. I'll say that we'll definitely be back to try their brunch, which the manager invited us to. If you've never been to this restaurant, you should definitely give them a try.

We didn't see her again for at least 45 minutes. I had to ask another server to check on my drink. We waited an eternity for my friend to order her drink and to order our food. A guy came over and introduced himself as our server. Shockingly, our initial server that went MIA, delivered us one of the dishes we had ordered. The food was great but the flies on the patio were insane. Ultimately, we finished our drinks and dessert inside at the bar. That was also a strange interaction. The bartender and our server were both very awkward about us moving inside. Given the service snafu and the swarm of flies, one would think they'd be friendlier. Anyhow, the food was great. We shared the aguachile shrimp, chicken fajitas, enchiladas and tres leche cake. We both had a couple margaritas which were delicious. I'd probably come back but sit inside and hope for a smoother service experience.

Living in South…read moreFlorida influenced me to learn much more about Latin foods which are much more diverse than Mexican. I've had a very hard time finding much Latin diversity here so far but for Mexican this is quite good. I've mostly gotten combo platters because I like the variety. I believe every combo platter should come with rice and beans. I can tell how authentic a place is by the beans and salsa quite often. So far I've liked the combo platters and the taco salad that I tried. Again, if I remember correctly, I had to pay extra to get beans on my taco salad. That would be one complaint I have. Beans should be a staple and come with everything unless the person doesn't want them. The service has been good. No complaints and it's been busy when we've eaten there usually during lunch hours. The decor and ambiance is pretty typical Mexican. Nothing fancy. The one thing I will note is I didn't see any Mexicans working there. Maybe someone in the kitchen I can't see so that's usually not a great sign. I know they've been around a long time. I'd probably go a smidge lower to 3.5 if I could just because I'm rather picky about Mexican and Latin food but I don't think it's fair to go down to 3 so I'm rounding up. The prices seem a bit high but everything is so expensive in 2026! They are probably pretty average for eating out and I'm sure it's costing them more just like all the rest of us have seen food prices sky rocket over the past year. I would certainly recommend them for a lunch bite and a nice Mexican American experience.

I thought it would be different than what it was. The portion size was fine, and the green sauce that they offer you on the side really makes it better. Also ordered the CHORI queso dip lied on the chorizo for the portion size. The flavor was also a three out of five. The chip that they give you with it has a nice, good texture and reasonable seasoning. My wife had the mushroom Tinga tacos. She gave him four out of five. She really enjoyed them. I'm definitely probably alway going to order this when I go. I also tried a taco with carne asada. The tacos are the street variety but they are really good sized. They don't skimp on the meat. And the carne asada was really good. No gristle or gross bits. It was chopped finely and I'd definitely order it again. I also had to try a burrito. I tried the El pastor for that and added on all the toppings-cheese, sour cream, lettuce, tomato, and avocado. I also opted for extra meat because it was super cheap-like $1, so why not? We had a party of 8 and ordered a ton of tapas to share and the staff/kitchen timed their delivery perfectly along with entree delivery and drink refills so our table was pretty busy. Overall two great experiences, super delicious food, and lots of options so you can try something new with every visit! I'm already looking forward to going back
