Classic/traditional Mexican. Prices are amazing for the portion size and flavor. La chori burrito is topped with queso and chorizo which was the highlight of the dish. The filling of the burrito was all steak, which was a little dry. La cinta portion size was insane and SO much flavor. Absolutely recommend this. And it was topped will with probably an entire fresh avocado with a pile of jalapeños and corn tortilla quesadillas all around the edge. Menu is very large with a whole lot of options. & free chips and salsa :)

She had such a bright, sunny attitude that honestly made the whole experience better. She checked on us often, made sure our food was good, and always asked if we needed anything else without being annoying or rushed. You could tell she genuinely cared about her job and her customers. Even though it was busy, she stayed upbeat and patient the entire time. The food came out about 15 minutes after we ordered, which was great. I got the Baja chicken tacos they were super hot and fresh, but not so hot that they hurt your mouth. The total for all our food was surprisingly affordable, which made the experience even better. Because of Sammy's amazing service and the great food, we will definitely be coming back. We love you, Sammy! -- your honest reviewer

We had fun on Trivia Night first time. Service is good, but can be a little sparse when they are busy. The tacos: Butternut squash is tasty and spicy, Brisket (2 of our party got sick after eating these ), Gringo supreme is good but the sour cream is overloaded and kills the taste of the other ingredients. Tacos are around $4-$6 each. Some in our party didn't like how the flour shell was dry and crispy instead of soft. Drinks are adequate. We may try again on our next visit, but we will be careful what we order.

I'm not a fan of corn tortillas but these were AMAZING... the salsa was wonderful too. Now they did not serve chips and salsa so don't be disappointed when they don't bring you chips, but the food was totally worth it. The tacos were big and full of chicken or beef (which is actually steak). Don't be fooled by the grocery store attached. There's a little restaurant beside it. The service was wonderful and she spoke English, which was great, cause we don't know Spanish. I would totally recommend this place!!! Forgot to take pictures...

(I highly recommend the chicken.) For those still reading, if you're used to going out for "Mexican" food where sombreros hang on fake adobe walls and the lunch menu includes something called the Speedy #5, forget it. But, if you grew up in the South like me and know that a craving for Nanny's biscuits and gravy means avoiding flashy chain restaurants like the plague, you'll understand Carniceria Y Tienda La Mexicana the minute you walk in the door. This is a wonderful place serving up authentic examples of Mexican down-home cooking. A few things to keep in mind: 1. The menu seems to be fairly extensive, although I've never actually seen a menu. 2. If you don't speak Spanish, you might be in for an adventure. Don't let that scare you away though! Persevere and you'll be well rewarded. My first time, I was a bit out of my depth. Luckily a nearby table of young ladies came to my rescue and acted as my translators! 3. When you're ready to pay, take your ticket to the counter in the attached grocery store. Make sure to browse while you're there for tasty treats unavailable in your local mega-mart. 4. If you're concerned about a language barrier, go to the grocery store counter when you arrive and ask for a little assistance ordering, they're very nice and quite fluent in English. I've saved the best for last. On Fridays and Saturdays, the ladies in the kitchen make up a giant batch of the best Tamales I've ever tasted. In fact they might be one of the best anythings I've ever tasted. So, run by on your Friday lunch break and pick up a couple. You won't even have to wait since the guys at the grocery store counter keep a bunch on hand. Your mouth will thank you!
