This was such an unsuspecting place. We came after a gym session and we were ravenous! Our table of 3 got complimentary chips and dip upon our arrival, which they kindly refilled for us too. Our water came in a small pitcher with lemon and plenty of ice, amazing!! The chips was a heaving amount, and we knew this place was not going to skim on their portions. I got the grilled steak that came with cactus, small portions of guac, salsa, spring onions, beans and rice and omg the steak was juicy and I loved the fatty bits on the edges. Everything was so seasoned, I cleared the whole plate... My bf and friend shared the meat platter for two which came with an assortment of meat (grilled chicken, pork, pulled pork, shrimp, ribs, and steak, and cactus) with cheese AND it came with an assortment of small bowls of rice, beans, guac, and salsa omg. Their portions are huge, the decorations are amazing with such an authentic feel. The servers checked on us and were super kind and we are definitely coming back. We didn't think we can find such a place in Long Island, especially since I'm from queens and near a lot of Spanish restaurants.

The flavors here are very good. They cook their meats, the shrimp, the vegetables with finesse. I'm a big fan of huaraches, which is not something I knew about before my experiences here in westbury (here and el nopal). What's not to like about a crispy pillow of thick tortilla with three types of barbecued meat atop? The salsa they put on the table is a little spicy but perfectly. Just enough for me to like and keep eating without discomfort. Bravo amigos!

Shrimp Burrito: $14.06 ($15.27 with tax). Take-out. Cut in half.

BLUF: 2.75 stars out of 5 stars. We visited El Mercadito for take-out and ordered: - Shrimp Burrito: $14.06 ($15.27 with tax). OK. The shrimp was very salty, but the guacamole was fresh. - Mole Enchilada with Chicken: $15.60 ($16.95 with tax). Not so OK. The enchiladas had a lot of dry and flavorless shredded white meat that depended on the mole for flavor. However, the mole was over-salted to the point that we stopped eating after a few bites.

True Mexican place with lots of good food to pick from. Their Birria taco was good. Their fajita (don't recall what they named it on menu) was very big and filling. We were only non Mexican here. Very welcoming, cute decor. Save a flight to Mexico, come here to eat instead. Parking is not easy, but worth it.

The food is so solid that I don't want people to know about this place. We've been searching for amazing Mexican food in Long Island and we hit the jackpot with El Mercadito! The Lengua and fatty beef tacos were delicious. I enjoyed some of my husband's birria tacos too, soup was heavenly. their rice and guacamole were also tasty! Service was good on a slow Wednesday afternoon, waitress was friendly and recommended dishes to us. Decor is adorable and bright - you can't tell how cute it is inside from the exterior storefront. Can't wait to go back for more tacos and a margarita.

Three tacos w/rice & beans $18 (Birria Taco was amazing!!)

Visiting NY for the weekend, I woke up and was craving tacos so I spent 30min looking up tacos in the area lol & most were just overpriced. A bigger food chain could never! The ambiance was so chill & the young man who served me was just the kindest! I had no idea what to order and he took the time to make recommendations which I appreciated. I was there on a Monday around 1-2pm I believe so it was fairly empty which was kinda nice. I just don't think I would have gotten the quality & quantity of food I got if I went to a bigger, more known restaurant which is why I love smaller gems like this. It was a nice solo meal & thank you for the authentic experience!!

I would definitely recommend EL MERCADITO the tacos are excellent & they will definitely fill you up I'll be back again to enjoy a great meal. Thank you

Amazing Mexican cuisine, just like you are in Mexico Tacos delicious, mole really delicious. Everything is so flavorful and yummy and if you like spicy, you can have it Service is always amazing. Bryan and the rest of the staff care about their customers. And this place is always busy (cause it is always great). Don't be too surprised if you have to wait for a table.....it is definitely worth the wait

Tacos were salty and greasy. The rice and beans were cold and the guacamole not freshly made. The watermelon margarita I ordered wasn't that great either. Had indigestion later that night. The service however was pleasant.

I've been to Baci next door several times and never realized this restaurant was where it was! There is a free smallish parking lot in front as the lot is shared with the other stores in the strip mall that it's located in. I arrived around 12:45pm and was lucky enough to find ONE spot remaining. When I left around 2:45pm, there were a lot more available spots. Upon entering, I just sat where my friend was sitting. It looks like you can pick anywhere to sit and eventually someone will come over to take your order. All the wait staff were very nice and patient with us, as I was indecisive with what I wanted to order; everything looked so good! To order, there was a QR code on the table that you can scan and then browse the menu on your phone. A bit random but I really appreciated the bag hooks that were on the side of the table! I ended up ordering a Grilled Shrimp Quesadilla and my friend ordered a Regular Margarita and a Carne Asada Burrito. We were both very happy with our choices! Flavorful and fresh, my quesadilla was the perfect size and my friends burrito was pretty filling that she had to pack the rest to go. There is also a clean and spacious bathroom in the back if needed. Credit cards are accepted and they can split the bill if needed. We will be returning!

Phenomenal Mexican food at Ruta Oaxaca... the Woodbury location. Pretty much my favorite Mexican…read morefood restaurant... too bad we live almost 3,000 miles away. Yeah, you read that correctly... not a typo. We were visiting my daughter and her family while on Long Island, but we had to fend for ourselves one evening while they had other plans. We were in the mood for Mexican food, so Yelp to the rescue... and this place popped up. Well, it lived up to all the hype, I'm happy to say. The restaurant is really small... the only negative... and it can get kind of loud, so okay, two negatives, but the food more than made up for it. We had a really good waiter, who was very helpful in helping us place our order. We ordered guacamole, and they made it to our specifications, minus the hot peppers and cilantro. It was FABULOUS and just like I like it.... as good as Besito, by the way !!! I love that place, too. However, what really won me over was this salmon dish in red mole sauce, which I had never had before. It was AMAAAAAAZING. My husband and I SPLIT an order of their Salmon Con Tropical Mole, which was pan-roasted filet of salmon, mole manchamanteles, sweet plantains, papaya pico de gallo. We got some extra plantains and some street corn, and with the gargantuan size of salmon, it was more than enough for the both of us... plus we definitely filled up on chips and salsa (and guac for me). Everything was superb, and I want to say that the salmon was some of the best I've ever had. It was flaky, flavorful and succulent with a very light but appreciated outer crunch. It was soooooooooooo good. So we came away from this place, raving to everyone and anyone who would listen. We talked my daughter and son-in-law into ordering takeout from here as they were worried it was just too small to deal with a bunch of us going, esp. with their young children. Anyway, I'm disappointed to say that their takeout was an entirely different situation. We ordered the "same" salmon dish, and it was like HALF the size. It was the size for one... not that two could split. (If you look at my photo of it, you'll see how large it was... now cut it in half... that's what we got on takeout.) I let my husband have it cuz I was too angry. It had the mole sauce, but I didn't care once I saw it.... plus the salmon itself looked different... it didn't have that nice crunchy shell from pan roasting it. Just so disappointing. The guacamole was still as good as I remember, as was their salsa... but the portion size and quality of preparation... at least with the salmon... was an abomination. I can't speak to what my daughter and son-in-law ordered for entrees because we didn't try it in the restaurant, so we have no point of reference. I feel bad because I raved and raved about their food, and this takeout experience sucked. There should be NO difference. I guess my takeaway would be to recommend that you dine-in there. I'm awarding all FIVE stars for DINE-IN ONLY... and nothing to do with their takeout process. Brave the crowds because they will be there, make a reservation which will help, and eat THERE. I just don't trust the takeout experience with them.

My date had the verde entree and it was really good. She enjoyed it. The chips and salsa on the table were delicious and the they are clearly homemade. Ambiance is "ok". It's showing its age a bit on the flooring and the molding. The service is why I'm deducting point and I'd give them 3.5 stars if I could. We sat a bit and waited to have our orders taken and sat a bit longer for the check. They were nice, polite, friendly but a little quicker service would have been appreciated. Would I go back? Sure. I'll try something else.
