    Burrito bowl with chicken
    Elena S.

Stopped here for lunch with my boyfriend and didn't leave disappointed. My boyfriend ordered a burrito bowl with chicken - good sized portion with delicious, fresh ingredients. I ordered a cochinita pibil taco & an al pastor taco. Both were well-prepared. Meat was juicy & flavorful. The sever gave us some of their homemade hot sauces, both of which paired well with the food. Although I didn't try any, I noticed the restaurant had a full bar and an extensive variety of margaritas. An all-in-all good experience.

Lets start with the amazing Mezcalita drink.. it was really good!! Not overpowered by juices and you can def taste the mezcal Had a few different tacos and the ones that stood out to me was the fish and shrimp. Good size shrimp and big chunk of fish. The al pastor was just okay. I had ordered a birria tostado but there was no dipping sauce or even sauce in it. It was really dry. The nacho and guacamole was really good with their chips

A very nice lunch this past Sunday, 2/15. Very good Mexican food! For appetizers we got the guacamole. To me it was a small portion but it was good. We each ordered a drink and they were so good! I loved my enchiladas and my friend loved her tacos. Service was good as well. The place inside is small so I'm not sure how larger parties would work but it was fine for us.

The city isn't where all of the best tacos is at. Mala Madre Taqueria is a restaurant with a location in Mineola as well. They prep and everything themselves and made fresh! 10/10 would recommend. Taste: 5:5 Ambiance: 3.5/5 Service: 5/5 Value for money: 4/5 The highlight to us was the Lengua and the salsa. 10/10 would recommend those two. The Baja fish was also not bad and the Birria was great too.

As you can see from my past reviews I have been here twice before in 2023 and 2024 for lunch at the bar. I returned here again solo at the bar for lunch. I enjoyed my regular margarita with salt for $14.51. I also enjoyed my burrito Birria with braised beef with a small side salad and consomme for $19. I used my credit card so I was charged an additional 4% credit card surcharge. My credit card total bill was $36.40 excluding gratuity. The 4% cash discount total bill was $34.94. I will continue to return here for Mexican food. Happy Mother's Day! Enjoy your special day!

Food is always fresh and delicious. Their guac and chips is definitely some of my favorite around. Go on taco Tuesday for great deals and try the margs!

I finally made my way to Mala Madre Taqueria in Westbury Located at 1610 Old Country Rd, super easy to get to and they have parking which is always a plus!First of all the inside is sooo cute very colorful, creative, and super clean. The vibe is fun and lively with multiple seating areas and a full bar The service? Amazing. Our server was the sweetest. We definitely started with drinks a classic margarita and a guava margarita (mine on the rocks of course ). Both were so good! For appetizers we got the cheese fundido with chorizo and WOW now that's some good food the chorizo was sooo good and that red hot sauce?? I was obsessed. For my main I got the carnitas burrito and it was a 10/10. So flavorful, perfectly made, no complaints at all. Then happy hour started so I had to try their frozen margarita also really good.I loved everything the vibes the food, the drinks I left happy and full which is all that matters Definitely recommend if you're in the area!

This is definitely a hidden gem in LI at a small shopping area. I nearly almost passed it but follow the directions on maps, waze will definitely get you lost. Food was pretty damn good. I ordered the Birra, fish and al pastor tacos. Very flavorful and fresh. The churros were good too. Service: They do have drinks but if you ask for a drink not from the drink menu, they side eye you and tell you they can't make it. With a full stocked bar, I would think you can make any drink. The service could have been a bit better, as the waiter was a bit impatient when we were giving him our order. I took one star off on that note. But the food definitely on point.

We love this place. It's quaint, great staff and service and the food is amazing. Everything is freshly made and has authentic Mexican flavors. I'm a taco gal, so I try different tacos each time I visit. There's nothing bad on this menu. The guacamole is a must try!

I came here for lunch with a coworker based off of his recommendation. It was definitely a great lunch spot! The drinks were absolutely amazing with a natural juices inside of my Mojito. We came in as soon as they opened for lunch and they were already on top of our needs. The food came out quickly and it was absolutely delicious. I'm a very big enchilada fan and I went with the birria enchilada. The prices are on par with a high-quality Mexican meal on Long Island. I will definitely be coming back shortly.

Very easy and quick ordering process with table service. A fairly sized menu with a good amount of food and drink options, this restaurant is perfect for fresh food. Service was great, friendly and helpful. Clean and inviting decor When you're in the area, this is a better option than your run of the mill chains

Mala Madre Taqueria = new fave The staff could not be nicer, and the place is small but cute inside, nice the vibe. The chips are long, and crispy (addictive!) and the salsa... wow. One of the best I've had, no joke. My son's a total taco snob and he loved the carne asada taco. We also got the mini nachos, Baja (fish) taco, and a side of guac, all so good. Even my son, who rarely veers from his usual Tacos N 1, said these tacos give them a run for their money. We'll definitely be back!

This is a great place for tacos, but the drinks are good too. It's very casual but not a cafeteria. The staff is friendly and helpful.

I was headed to another Mexican restaurant But the brightly colored windows which were painted for thanksgiving made me decide to stop. Inside it. My granddaughter and I were the only customers. I pick up a menu on the way to sitting down. There was an oil smell which made me think their tank was just filled and maybe had a leak. I sat for a few minutes and was just about to leave when someone came to take my order. We shared chicken enchiladas with rice, beans, and a small salad. It was actually decent until I bit into a chicken bone. This is a complete turn off for me. And it's unfortunate because the enchiladas had good flavor. Nothing unusual about the rice and beans. I asked for water to drink. In my world that means a glass of ice water. Instead I got a bottle from Costco. Would I go back? Probably not. There are too many Mexican restaurants in the area who's food I like better.

Yes the girl finished her food a bit before getting up to help me.. in fact they all looked at me like they assumed I would likely leave.. why would I?.. and no she didn't wash hands before serving me. Did I leave.. Heck no. This made it more authentic, real deal Mexican, not all Yelpwashed. lol So I ordered a few things but stayed simple. Finding tacos that impress me on the East Coast isn't easy... but Azteca absolutely delivered. I ordered the tacos de lengua and tripa platter, and every single bite was perfection. Add the radishes, fresh cucumbers, lime, and all the little touches, and it felt like I was back home. The agua de tamarindo and agua de jamaica were both spot on--refreshing, flavorful, and not overly sweet. The only thing I wasn't crazy about was the horchata. My kids ordered it, and it tasted a little artificial with an odd gummy texture. Thankfully, that was the only miss. The service was friendly, the food was phenomenal, and the restaurant had a great atmosphere with beautiful Mexican décor and a soccer game playing in the background. It just felt right. I had my reservation for 7 and arrived early at 6:40, I knew that I wouldn't get the table but I was early so I just decided to wait inside, BIG MISTAKE! Checked in with the manager where he told me it would be about a 20 minute wait or so which was fine, no waiting area so I was able to strand by the bar, not a big deal! After about 30 minutes of waiting I am seeing how busy it was getting and I am waiting with another two person table by the bar, when we both see a woman walk in and asked if they could accommodate 4 people to which the manager goes "do you have a reservation ?" And she says no, didn't matter as he replies with "okay we can accommodate you give me 3 minutes for this table to pay"??? At this point I am now upset, first of all, we had a reservation and have now been waiting for nearly 45 minutes for something that should have been ready at 7 for and the table who I was waiting with also took this badly and walked out, my wife asked the unprofessional manager how it is possible for a 4 person table with no reservation to be sat so promptly but he has 2 two person tables waiting standing by the bar for a long period of time? This manager replies with "well I can't break the four top table and give it to the two tops"?? Like you can't sit the 2 reservations waiting to be sat for an extended period of time? Didn't offer any apology or nothing, some audacity, I will never be back!
