I ordered arroz imperial for 50 people, the cashier said that two trays should be good as each tray feeds 20 to 25 people. On the day of the party when I went to pick up the two trays a lady gives me two boxes that are around two inches high and she said 'here are your trays', I asked her if that would feed 50 people and she said yes 'this is another worker'. Thank God I had around ten people that didn't attend the party because I would have run out of food. Each tray only gives you 15 portions regardless of how you cut it. They are cheap with their ingredients, almost no chicken, little cheese on top, overall a disaster, we paid almost $200 for this and I will never again buy catering from them. read more

To start, the customer service in this place is AWFUL. Lack of friendliness in staff, they take a long time to ask if you need help, you kinda just have to hover and try to get someone's attention otherwise they likely won't ask if you need help. The food for the most part is great. Portion size is amazing for the low price. Food normally tastes great. I recommend the Lechón (pork) and the arroz imperial (almost like a rice lasagna). I recommend going in the afternoon because the food is fresher and hasn't sat there too long. The actual restaurant is always super hot and crowded. I would not recommend actually eating there; take your food to go. Overall, the customer service is a big minus for me and I will likely not be returning. I don't speak Spanish and there was only one person of the entire restaurant staff that spoke very little English but she figured out what I was ordering by my pointing and holding up fingers. My friend and I ordered "una completa" which is basically food for "one person" and we shared it. We still had left over. That's how much food they serve here. There are two food stands offering several buffet style dishes. I tried the crunchy, fatty, salty, warm, pork belly with rind (chicharrón); sold by the pound, must eat right away! Also had the oxtail (rabo) with white rice and sweet plantains, soooo delicious! Tried the ajiaco (chicken meat potato soup), soo flavorful and hearty. The portions are definitely for two, even three people. Heads up, if you order at one stand you must pay at that one, can't order from one and pay at the other. If a meal is not what you want and instead you want something quick, there's a stand that has sandwiches, breakfast, coffee, pastries, shakes and juices. Had the Cuban sandwich with a Cuban coffee, amazing simply delicious. Also tried the pineapple juice and passion fruit juice. Though advertised as fresh, didn't quite feel that way. The prices are reasonable, the staff may seem unfriendly due to the speed in which they have to carry along. Definitely feeds more than one person. Since I live far from Hialeah I made sure to take a lot to go. This time we went we ordered a Cuban coffee, empanadas, tequeños, ropa vieja with moro, fried corn balls, and fried malanga balls. This was my first time trying the malanga one. It was delish!! And it was like 2 for $1.25. The ropa vieja plate fed me and my boyfriend twice and it was $12. Like previous reviews said, it is served cafeteria style...but there are 2 full set ups. I nearly walked out as I couldn't figure out where to start and nobody seemed to speak any English. A nice female employee realized we were a little lost and got our attention... through pointing and nodding my girlfriend and I ordered what was visually appetizing. It was amazing! I think the lady helping us got a kick out of the lack of communication. ..and that was ok. "ALL WE HAVE IS RIGHT HERE!" and then pointed to a small drink fridge tucked away at the end behind the register. I get a sprite. Get to the register and present my amex. "WE DON'T TAKE AMEX!", despite the giant sign on the fire that says they do. So I give them my bank card. I run it as credit. Suddenly, the girl that fixed my order and the girl running the register start sucking their teeth and rolling their eyes and hand me the receipt to sign. I check the receipt. It's approved, so what's the issue? "YOU SHOULD HAVE TOLD US YOU WERE RUNNING IT AS CREDIT!". Based on what?? You never asked me. How does it change anything about the transaction? It doesn't. The charge is approved and looks like we're done here. Get over it. I grabbed my food and walked off. I'm going to move onto the food. It was bland at best. The rice and beans were ok. The chicken was dry. I won't ever be back for a second helping of their garbage customer service. They were rude. I will say the food was cheap. But you get what you pay for.
