For 10 years my family and I LOVED El Pollo Loco Rowland Heights, sooo friendly, they were like our close friends. Now, about Diamond Bar's... The male young manager is RUDE, IMPATIENT, never smiled and treat us like we are annoyance to him. Many times when taking my order, he will walk away and come back to continue. The past 3 orders, they forgot my salad dressing, making me to drive back and requested the dressing. No apologies, they would just say, oh, here you go and move on. I came here during their busy lunch rush and I was very impressed with the cashier Jesus. He greeted every customer with a warm, sincere smile. He kept the line moving and thanked each person at the end of their transaction. What a gem! I tried the chicken, shrimp, avocado tostada salad for the first time. What I really do like about this particular El Pollo Loco (and why I come back to it as often as I can) is it has one of the consistently best customer service experiences I've ever seen out of a fast food chain...the employees here always greet you with a smile AND almost always make sure to tell you to have a good day when you leave. My only complaint of this pollo loco is the team members who ignored me and didn't acknowledge that I was waiting for over 15mins at the counter to pick up my online order. There was 1 girl with blonde highlighted hair who was calling out the orders who never once greeted me nor bothered to ever ask how she could help me. First of all, they fired all the old employees including one of my friends! The food is horrible! Mac n' Cheese is overcooked and watery. Rice is sticky and gross. Classic chicken burrito is all rice n' beans! Where's the pollo senora!?! Manager re-made me one but I wasn't satisfied. Salsa station's a mess with old salsa. I'm boycotting this location until they shape up their kitchen. How dare they mess up my fav. chicken spot!?! Going to the Grand/Valley location. Or at least this location. We've been getting their family meal deals here for as long as we've lived in Diamond Bar. Which is to say, my entire life. And I'll keep going here until something bad happens to change my mind. Which hasn't happened yet. I can't speak to the quality of their burritos and premade items and such. I never got them. The reason why I love El Pollo Loco is the fact that I make my OWN burritos. Step1: Order family meal deal. Legs and thighs (dark meat is superior, STFU). It also comes with tortillas and 2 side orders. Step2: Side orders. Make SURE to get the Spanish Rice. No debate. The second one is your choice, none of the rest really stand out. Step3: Get a BUTTLOAD of salsa. And everything else. I think the management there hates us, since our family basically takes half the freaking salsa bar with us home. But we've given them loads of business, so its ok right? Right? Step4: Go home. Combine all ingredients. DEVOUR. They say El Pollo Loco is fast food, but eating this style really blurs the line. Its like going to a supermarket and buying premade ingredients and putting it together. Except everything is sized just right for one meal.
