I came here during their busy lunch rush and I was very impressed with the cashier Jesus. He greeted every customer with a warm, sincere smile. He kept the line moving and thanked each person at the end of their transaction. What a gem! I tried the chicken, shrimp, avocado tostada salad for the first time. I always order the tostada salads, but this time around, it seems as if the amount of rice and beans were a little skimpy. The shrimp seasoning was good and had a little spicy kick. What I really do like about this particular El Pollo Loco (and why I come back to it as often as I can) is it has one of the consistently best customer service experiences I've ever seen out of a fast food chain...the employees here always greet you with a smile AND almost always make sure to tell you to have a good day when you leave. My only complaint of this pollo loco is the team members who ignored me and didn't acknowledge that I was waiting for over 15mins at the counter to pick up my online order. And I'll keep going here until something bad happens to change my mind. Which hasn't happened yet. I can't speak to the quality of their burritos and premade items and such. I never got them. The reason why I love El Pollo Loco is the fact that I make my OWN burritos. Step1: Order family meal deal. Legs and thighs (dark meat is superior, STFU). It also comes with tortillas and 2 side orders. Step2: Side orders. Make SURE to get the Spanish Rice. No debate. The second one is your choice, none of the rest really stand out. Step3: Get a BUTTLOAD of salsa. And everything else. I think the management there hates us, since our family basically takes half the freaking salsa bar with us home. But we've given them loads of business, so its ok right? Right? Step4: Go home. Combine all ingredients. DEVOUR. They say El Pollo Loco is fast food, but eating this style really blurs the line. Its like going to a supermarket and buying premade ingredients and putting it together. Except everything is sized just right for one meal.
