Stopped in here after flying into Sacramento to visit family in Elk Grove. Friends of ours who are native Californians highly recommend we try this franchise. We came in just after the lunch rush so no trouble with parking. Parking lot in front of the restaurant appeared clean as did the front counter area of the restaurant. I did notice that there were several tables that still had food left behind from prior customers and the tables needed to be wiped down. The counter staff was helpful and courteous as we were trying to make our selections from the menu. After placing our order we chose a table and within a few minutes our order was ready for pick up. Everything was in order and everyone was pleased with what they chose. I had the chicken quesadilla and it was a good portion. Taking one point off for the dining room cleanliness. This is the location I go to for el pollo since it's the closest one to my house. El pollo is a great meal if you don't know what to eat, and I enjoy their sides (Mac and cheese, Spanish rice, and corn). I also prefer the flour tortillas over the corn tortillas. They'll give you a lot of salsa if you ask for it, although I do miss the salsa bar to grab it your self. I like the house and the green salsa. I stopped by while out shopping around 7pm on July 3rd. The cashier (I think her name starts with the letter L) was so kind and offered great customer service. I really appreciate that, because it can be hit-or-miss with fast food type restaurants. I ate inside the restaurant and I was impressed at how diligently everyone was working the whole time I was in there. The cashier also came out when she had a chance and made sure the dining room was clean. This is a big plus, because so many places I have gone to have dirty tables and employees are standing around on their cell phones. I've never been to this location but someone brought us food here and I was pleasantly surprised! The chicken was really tender and moist. The corn was my favorite side. The mashed potatoes and rice were okay. The gravy was watery and I could've done without it. Loved the green and red salsas though! Wish they had a really spicy one. Absolutely amazing experience!! Went through the drive through and got our food super quick yet the food tasted hot and fresh ! The longest bit was me and husband being first timers and asking about the food. The young man working the drive thru , Isaac , sat and explained the different items and what things he likes to order with no complaints and no rush. When we were leaving Isaac also realized we had forgotten our tortillas and ran after our car to hand them over ! This has been the best fast food experience I have gotten in California ! The chicken tostada salad was actually good. This place sometimes is a hit or miss situation. I remember during the covid season they were making a lot of mistakes on their orders but i was willing to bypass it. Their 3 piece chicken meal is what i usually get and had no problems with it. If there was a way to put zero stars I would. Tonight is the 3rd time in a row so we are done with this location. Chicken was over cooked and very dry. They once again screwed up and didn't give us the correct sides only this time only gave 2 when a 12 piece family meal has 3. Not sure if a 12 piece meal mixed is this complicated, but for this location it is. Last night I ordered a $25 family meal that came with 16 pieces of legs and thighs, 3 large sides, warm tortillas and fresh salsa. More than half of the chicken were either burnt or over cooked and they were super stingy with the "Large" sides. The mash potatoes was only 2 small scopes. There were more emptiness within the container than the mash itself. This goes for the Mac n cheese and coleslaw as well. By far the best experience I've ever had with el Pollo loco with customer service from Isabelle as well as the food being nice and hot. I usually go through the drive thru bit this time I dined in. Isabelle was amazing at taking my order and just being friendly and helping me, with extra salsas and utensils as well as telling me about the specials. Food came out fast and very fresh and hot. Came here for dinner and looking for a well balanced meal I got chicken tostada salad bowl and for lunch the next day, the Keto burrito. Both were tasty! The chicken tostada salad bowl has been recurated from a few years ago so it is a smaller portion with slightly less tostada. However, it was flavorful and fresh tasting! We had an unpleasant experience during our drive thru visit this evening. We follow a vegan diet and due to our choice its difficult to find quick food that has option we typically use this location as it is our only option. As we normally do we ordered the tostada salad just beans and rice because we usually bring them home and build them up with our own plant based proteins cheese etc. ( ***this is not uncommon for a plant based eater***) unfortunately the female who took our ordered found it hilarious and decided it was appropriate mock me and basically talk shit to all the staff as I was sitting in the drive thru, not paying attention to her job she didn't realize I could hear everything she was saying thru the speaker and also while waiting at the window. It is unfortunate the that level of professionalism is lacking at this location, but also that hire closed minded individuals who really don't realize if it wasn't for customers In general they really wouldn't have a job. On that note I hope that someone in leadership for this location takes the necessary action to coach and educate their staff in the various doest that this resurgent chain supports but also that in some cases diets and food choices are a result of religion. So next time staff should stop and think about how mocking a debt and insulting the individual to another co worker could be very offensive. If it were possible to give this zero stars I would. I ordered my food through post mates food delivery. This was not Post Mates fault they did there job effectively. However whoever decided that it would be ok to give me and my family and entire order of burnt nasty chicken should be fired. I have called the store a total of five time since my order and I can not get through. The phone just rings. I tried to get my money back from post mates and unfortunately could not provide me with a refund as they are not responsible for the nasty inedible food that my family was served and that I spent my hard earned money on. I understand these are hard times we are under right now. However that is no excuse for making such a horrible judgement call in packaging me burnt food. All of it went in the trash! I made sure to take pictures however!! I would like a full refund and an apology.
