This is so bad it's almost funny. I love this restaurant, but do not go to this specific store. I ordered DOUBLE protein AVACADO Bowl. Not one single piece of avacado, and I counted 3 teensy tiny pieces of chicken squares. The entire "bowl" is iceberg lettuce. Oh wait! There are about 12 kernels of corn. We have had delicious food at el pollo locos restaurants but yesterday's order was full of disappointment. My husband ordered the grande avocado chicken bowl. He had it before at Indios Pollo loco but at this location it had very few pieces of shredded chicken and only two slivers of avocado. It was mostly rice and beans. It had no flavor. I ordered the shredded chicken quesadilla and it tasted like something else. The flavor was not there. It had cilantro and a birria sauce. What got me is that there wasn't hardly any cheese and it was clumped together not even melted. We asked for salsa and we got only one green and one red. I wasn't even asked how many I wished. We pulled into the drive thru and ordered two classic tostadas, with avocados to replace the chicken. The drive thru attendee said ok, and sonwe asked to add more avocado and he said it'd cost $1.50. "No problem"--we were told. Lastly, we added a small mashed potato, and that concluded our order. The one star is because when we received our order, and opened it up, there was a salad plate, no tostada, and the mashed potatoes were spoiled. The odor was so strong and repulsive that I thought it was my child's diaper (#2). My husband discovered it was the mashed potatoes and that spoiled my appetite. New GM Daryl Raymond has completely turned this place around: it is clean, the staff is welcoming and the food is great- good portion sizes and well-cooked chicken. Food is good, I'll give them that. I work nearby & my son love beans rice so this is always a first choice as it's close. I always go through drive-thru which sometimes takes longer than waiting inside. I've been here 2-3x a week for the past two weeks and I'm honestly so disappointed. EVERY time, I'm always missing something in my order. First my sons rice, then large order of Guac/chips. I don't live close by so it isn't worth the drive back, but needless to say I probably won't be stopping by here much now. This is a positive comment even if it starts off negative. 2 days ago we got an order (2 of the 10 piece family meals) that were not quite up to the advertisements or our past orders, chicken dry/salsa soured/rice n beans dry, so we called to let the manager know. Daniel returned our call and we talked about the quality of the items. He asked us to come in and he would replace the meals at no cost. Glad we did. We returned today and the Chicken was fresh & juicy, salsa was great, rice and beans were fresh also. Thank you Daniel for showing us that the customer does matter. Staff is super friendly and always acknowledges us even when they're not right next to the cash register. They promptly take our order. The food always comes out correct even though we have some preferences. It's delicious. I do wish they had the salsa bar open as we feel bad asking for more salsa. It is delicious. Friendly staff. The experience was very poor. I placed an online order and was given a pick up time. I arrived and waited at the pick up station as instructed. I was completely ignored for at least five minutes while people coming in after were dealt with first. The order was not ready. Finally the cashier asked me and proceeded to prepare the order. The chef was slinging bits of chicken around the room while cleaning the grill. It did not look clean and sanitary. Other staff were walking back and forth with the multiple cups of ingredients and dumping them somewhere inefficiently. The chicken was ok. If I could give a negative number review I would. Went there today to order a family meal, and 4 employees were too too husy talking to take my order. Another employee came in, ran her red card through the register, then mentioned to the 4 about a cashier. One looked at me, and turned away to carry on with their conversation. I called the store, spoke with the manager, and she seemed to be very upset about this incident. She asked if she could give me a 25% coupon to get me back, and I said no. This location is consistently disappointing. Generally, El Pollo Loco's provide a consistent product and quick service. The last two times I have been to this location to pick up food, the doors have been locked. The girl who opened the door said the Manager did not show up and it was Stagecoach weekend! She could not take cash since she had no keys to the cash register. This seems like a very BAD way to run a business when you can't take money. Another time the doors were locked and they thought it appropriate to let customers stand outside in the 104 degree heat. (Not to mention the food was late-I ordered online) Additionally, nearly every time I go through the drive through, my order is wrong or they fail to include napkins and/or utensils. I rarely eat meat but when I do I generally enjoy El Pollo Loco but I have been disappointed so many times at this location that I will not go back. If you MUST have El Pollo Loco, do yourself a favor and drive to the location in Indio-that location is managed about 1,000 times better. Rarely do I write reviews but I am so disgusted & disappointed with this location I am hoping that they actually read their reviews and make some much needed changes. read more

Instead of the mashed potatoes, they gave me a Mac and cheese and corn, so I ended up with two Mac and cheese and had to go inside and get the potatoes. Seriously? These people demand more money but can't even count? Maybe take less gummies and maybe just maybe they can get orders right. I'll just go back to Indio. This Brand new El Pollo Loco was here in La Quinta about a month ago. The decor is pretty warm and welcoming in natural tone colors. The staff is nice and helpful, food is great! Keeping up the facility cleanliness is so far as my concern! There are some mess on the floor and table by the time I was there. We occasionally have gotten food from this El Pollo Loco and it has been ok. The chicken has been tasty if somewhat dry and beans and Cole slaw have been decent. Prices are fair, so it's been ok for takeout. That was not true on my last visit. The chicken was extremely dry and the corn tortillas were dry and stuck together. Not good, but the final straw was the slimy and inedible Cole slaw. We ate a bite of it and that was one bite too many. It's incredible that this place got a solid health department score as that slaw had clearly gone off. We won't be returning. Stopped in to grab a quick bite while out shopping. My sister-in-law and I were immediately - and very pleasantly - greeted by Daryl. We placed our order and Daryl said if you order this way you get more food for a lower price. So, we did. We had the taco box combo which was 3 al carbon tacos and 3 chicken avocado tacos. Perfect as this gave us what we each had wanted and we had a couple of tacos to bring home to my brother. The restaurant was clean, well lit and at a comfortable temperature. Much to our surprise, we ended up getting a "bonus!" The gal cooking accidentally made 3 extra chicken avocado tacos and Daryl gave them to us for free. Now all of this would have been a moot point if the food wasn't tasty. It was very tasty indeed: chicken was juicy, toppings and salsas fresh, and the tortillas were warm and soft.
